SO, Joker, what cover for issue 600 will you be geting? As I said, I'll probably get the Alex ROss cover.

Oh I'll definitely be getting the Alex Ross cover, too. Has to be the Doc Ock one that I get. No question.

Lets re-post it because it's sooooooo nice:

I wonder what the ROmtia jr. cover looks like?

I thought it was the one of Spidey swinging?

^^ Oh yeah! My god, lol, I forgot I even saw that...but I did. I think I'm losing my mind.

Speaking of issue 600, wouldn't it be awesome if we got a statue or a figure of how Ock will look in issue 600? You know, since it's been so long.

Assuming he looks awesome in #600, I'd be all for a new Doc Ock statue or figure.

The main thing I'm hoping for that'll come out of #600 is a great story. And one that will hopefully open new doors for Ock since Slott said they're elevating his threat status.

Fingers and tentacle claws crossed, folks!

^^ Indeed! I'm looking foward to the future of Ock and how he'll rock the Spider-Man/Marvel universe. It's going to be one hell of a ride, no doubt.

Good news guys, Ock (even though we shoudn't trust IGN's rankings as Ock is far more supreme than captain cold and other villains in front of him) was ranked 28th best villain in the world!

BTW soz I havnt been here I had GCSE

Correction: He was voted as the 28th best COMIC BOOK villain in the world. Which is BS, Ock should be rated way more higher than that!

That list was nonsense. They ranked Catwoman above the likes of Two Face, Green Goblin, Bullseye etc.

And there was no Spidey villains in the top 10. Plus they made Magneto number one, when Joker or Doom should have got the top spot.

Crap list.

Bloody hell, it's the ghosts of Christmas past :wow:

Welcome back, guys. Long time no see. You have both been sorely missed. Hope you're both doing good.

Did you both here Doc Ock is making a big return in the 104 issue of Amazing Spider-Man #600, which is out in mid July? I hope you'll both be here to voice your opinions on it.

Dan Slott, the writer who's writing it, said Ock is being elevated to a Dr Doom, Red Skull, and Mandarin level threat in it. It's gonna' rock!!!!

HA! Love it. Now he needs to start calling him webslinger and insect, too.

"I've been kinda busy."

Glad to be back. I haven't even seen a comic in about 4 months, there isn't a comic shop around for miles and miles. So, usually I have to get the heads up on what's going on through my source.

I missed all you guys. Especially my mate, Joker! We need to catch up brother!! NEED OCK PICS IN HERE!!

Oh and how epic was it on Disney XD today? They showed all of SSM.:woot:

Lazy bugger! Post your own Ock pics!!! Think you waltz back in here have them served to you on a plate? :cmad: :oldrazz:

Hop on MSN sometime and let me know when you're on. Love to catch up with you

Btw, I don't care if you have to travel to the moon to get yourself a copy of ASM #600. But you'd better get one. You REALLY don't want to miss this.

Curse Marvel and their variant covers! Now I want both JR Jr's and Alex Ross's! versions!

I must be hard to please, because I could take or leave Romita's and Queseda's covers. They're nice, but not epic enough for a landamark issue.

Now Alex Ross' gorgeous cover of Spidey entangled in Ock's tentacles, that is epic!

I have that issue, and the outfit looked better inside than Byrne's rendition on the cover.

I can't say I agree. The costume, and the story itself in those issues, were dire, IMO. I'm glad it was only a one shot.

In most quizzes involving quotes, the task is to tell who originally said the quote. This quiz is different in that we all know who said these quotes. Your task, instead, is to figure out where he said it—what issue number or episode! I combed through my entire collection and searched my knowledge of the inimitable Doctor Octavius to bring you this compilation of trivia. (It was hard going through it all night, but I bravely slogged on just for you.)

Ladies and gentlemen…fasten your seatbelts.

  • “Pay attention, you incompetent clods! Though others may fear radiation, I alone can make it my servant!”
  • “The Vitruvian Man has come, General. And in his octo-limbed world, you are quadriplegic.”
  • “The only people who should be permitted to behold the genius of Leonardo are his intellectual equals. And regrettably, that is a rather exclusive club.”
  • “I will not die a monster.”
  • “I can’t tell you how long I’ve dreamed of silencing your incessant nattering.”
  • “Once again you have saved me—although have you not as many times been the instruments of my defeat? Or do I lay blame falsely? Did I not always doom myself?”
  • (of May Parker) “I’ve sworn to defend this dear woman with my life—and my super-powerful tentacles will shred anyone who tries to take her from me!”
  • “These…monstrous things belong at the bottom of the river…along with me.”
  • “And think of all the damage I could do in an hour…starting with the girl.”
  • “Defeating these mindless dolts is so simple, it’s almost embarrassing.”
  • “Please spare me your baby stinkeye…or I will be forced to put your mask back on.”
  • “Well, I’ve spent a lot of time trying to get out of one sort of box or another, and just as much time shaking people up.”
  • “I have to turn this around. I have—I have to do something of value in this world before I die. I have to contribute. I am a man of science.”
  • “I really don’t enjoy senseless killing. And under different circumstances, I might have allowed you to live.”
  • “Don’t you have more faith in your fellow man than Otto Octavius does?”
  • “Come out, little spider! The doctor is in…and this won’t hurt a bit!”
  • (feeding his pet) “I hope you enjoy your chompy-chomps, Olga.”
  • (upon unmasking Spidey) “Parker! Brilliant—lazy—smug—Parker! Of course it would be you!”
  • “Tell me, Spider-Man…how does it feel to know that you’ll never see your loved ones again?”
  • “From now on I allow no one to interfere with my plans! I will permit no one to defy me!”
  • “Doctor Octopus lives! And Doctor Octopus kills!"
  • “You think Doctor Octopus will accept help from you? I’d rather die!”
  • (of his tentacles) “What makes you think I desire freedom from the very thing that makes me powerful?”
  • “My arms now work independently of me, Spider-Man. I’ve given each its own artificial brain—more than enough fuzzy logic to deal with a moron like you!”
  • (to the Sinister Six) “Gentlemen…and Rhino…”
  • “Why did you call me Doctor Octopus? My name—my name is Otto. Why did you call me that?”
  • “Farewell, Spider-Man—enjoy your tomb!”
  • “I’m an Octavius! You do not trifle with my kind!”
  • “Silence you imperious moron!”

*cracks knuckles* Oh, do I get to take first shot at this?

No cheating; I'm not looking at my own collection at all, or any webpages. Pure brain-memory thingie. Also deleting the ones I can't answer.

“Pay attention, you incompetent clods! Though others may fear radiation, I alone can make it my servant!”

ASM #3 -- Doc Ock's first appearance.

The Vitruvian Man has come, General. And in his octo-limbed world, you are quadriplegic.”

Year One

“The only people who should be permitted to behold the genius of Leonardo are his intellectual equals. And regrettably, that is a rather exclusive club.”
Dangit. I know the story arc but am blanking on the title. The one with the photographer patsy named Haight. This quote was from #1.

“I will not die a monster.”
Spiderman 2

Once again you have saved me—although have you not as many times been the instruments of my defeat? Or do I lay blame falsely? Did I not always doom myself?”

Again, can't name the issue but I know the story, one of those when Ock was in the mental hospital and his spider-man-themed nightmares caused the arms to break out of their restraints and come "rescue" him.

(of May Parker) “I’ve sworn to defend this dear woman with my life—and my super-powerful tentacles will shred anyone who tries to take her from me!”
Sounds like it's from the Ghost of Hammerhead arc.

“These…monstrous things belong at the bottom of the river…along with me.”

Spiderman 2

“And think of all the damage I could do in an hour…starting with the girl.”

Doc Ock's first episode as a villain in Spectacular Spider-Man.

“Please spare me your baby stinkeye…or I will be forced to put your mask back on.”

Ultimate Spider-Man, Hollywood arc. Near the end, on the plane. After the tooth extraction, as I recall. :)

“Well, I’ve spent a lot of time trying to get out of one sort of box or another, and just as much time shaking people up.”

ASM number... oh, I dunno. The Carlyle arc, first part of it. When Carlyle's offering the doctor a consulting job.

“Don’t you have more faith in your fellow man than Otto Octavius does?”

A classic line from "Web of Death". :)

(feeding his pet) “I hope you enjoy your chompy-chomps, Olga.”

Again, I know the arc, can't recall the issue. The one with the hallucinations-fears guy with the prosthetic limbs scheme who thought he could use Otto as a minion... idiot. *smirk*

“My arms now work independently of me, Spider-Man. I’ve given each its own artificial brain—more than enough fuzzy logic to deal with a moron like you!”

The Ramos Ock arc in Spectacular -- the comic, not the TV show a'course.

(to the Sinister Six) “Gentlemen…and Rhino…”

SpecSpidey cartoon, "Group Therapy" IIRC.

“I will not die a monster.”
Repeat! :D

By the way, I FINALLY managed to get my hands on a copy of Essential Spider-Man vol 9. Yes, apparently it's finally out! It was in a Borders in Tampa, FL, the only copy they had.

OK, so that's more general Spidey-fanthing than Ock-fanthing, but still, it does have at least one Ock arc in it, IIRC. :)

Wow, now here's a challenge and a half. Lets see how good my memory is....

“Pay attention, you incompetent clods! Though others may fear radiation, I alone can make it my servant!”

Amazing Spider-Man #3

“The Vitruvian Man has come, General. And in his octo-limbed world, you are quadriplegic.”

Doctor Octopus Year One

“The only people who should be permitted to behold the genius of Leonardo are his intellectual equals. And regrettably, that is a rather exclusive club.”

Negative Exposure.

“I will not die a monster.”

Spider-Man 2

“I can’t tell you how long I’ve dreamed of silencing your incessant nattering.”

Negative Exposure

“Once again you have saved me—although have you not as many times been the instruments of my defeat? Or do I lay blame falsely? Did I not always doom myself?”

Sounds familiar, but I can’t put my finger on it.

(of May Parker) “I’ve sworn to defend this dear woman with my life—and my super-powerful tentacles will shred anyone who tries to take her from me!”

Ghost of Hammerhead arc.

“These…monstrous things belong at the bottom of the river…along with me.”

Spider-Man 2

“And think of all the damage I could do in an hour…starting with the girl.”

The Reaction episode in the Spectacular Spider-Man cartoon.

“Defeating these mindless dolts is so simple, it’s almost embarrassing.”

No idea. But what a wonderful line. Very Ockesque.

“Please spare me your baby stinkeye…or I will be forced to put your mask back on.”

The Hollywood arc in USM.

“Well, I’ve spent a lot of time trying to get out of one sort of box or another, and just as much time shaking people up.”

The Carlyle arc.

“I have to turn this around. I have—I have to do something of value in this world before I die. I have to contribute. I am a man of science.”

No idea.

“I really don’t enjoy senseless killing. And under different circumstances, I might have allowed you to live.”

The wonderful Adam Troy Castro novel, Secret of the Sinister Six.

“Don’t you have more faith in your fellow man than Otto Octavius does?”

Web of Death.

“Come out, little spider! The doctor is in…and this won’t hurt a bit!”

No idea. But how wonderfully cheesey.

(feeding his pet) “I hope you enjoy your chompy-chomps, Olga.”

The Fusion arc in Peter Parker: Spider-Man.

(upon unmasking Spidey) “Parker! Brilliant—lazy—smug—Parker! Of course it would be you!”

No idea.

“Tell me, Spider-Man…how does it feel to know that you’ll never see your loved ones again?”

No idea.

“From now on I allow no one to interfere with my plans! I will permit no one to defy me!”

Not sure. Definitely from one of Stan Lee’s stories.

“Doctor Octopus lives! And Doctor Octopus kills!"

No idea.

“You think Doctor Octopus will accept help from you? I’d rather die!”

No idea.

(of his tentacles) “What makes you think I desire freedom from the very thing that makes me powerful?”

No idea. Might be from that horrible Out of Reach mini.

“My arms now work independently of me, Spider-Man. I’ve given each its own artificial brain—more than enough fuzzy logic to deal with a moron like you!”

Countdown arc.

(to the Sinister Six) “Gentlemen…and Rhino…”

The Group Therapy episode in the Spectacular Spider-Man cartoon.

“Why did you call me Doctor Octopus? My name—my name is Otto. Why did you call me that?”

His first issue as a villain in USM.

“Farewell, Spider-Man—enjoy your tomb!”

The Shear Strength episode in the Spectacular Spider-Man cartoon.

“I’m an Octavius! You do not trifle with my kind!”

No idea, but it sounds very familiar.

“Silence you imperious moron!”

The Reaction episode in the Spectacular Spider-Man cartoon.

“I will not die a monster.”

Spider-Man 2

Oh dear, I'm a bit rusty on some of them. Still that was tons of fun to do. Cheers, MP :D

You should also pick up volume 3 of the Essentials for Spectacular Spider-Man. It covers the awesome Ock/Owl gang war arc.

Btw folks, next month in Wizard Magazine, they're doing a feature on the forthcoming Amazing Spider-Man #600. I'll definitely be getting that, and I shall scan the pages from for you all.

Hopefully we get some little taste of what to expect from the tentacled one in this milestone issue.

*cracks knuckles* Oh, do I get to take first shot at this?

No cheating; I'm not looking at my own collection at all, or any webpages. Pure brain-memory thingie. Also deleting the ones I can't answer.

ASM #3 -- Doc Ock's first appearance.

Close but no cigar! Actually from Unlimited #3, echoing ASM#3. (In ASM he doesn't call everyone incompetent clods, lol).

Dangit. I know the story arc but am blanking on the title. The one with the photographer patsy named Haight. This quote was from #1.

Close enough, it was Negative Exposure.

Again, can't name the issue but I know the story, one of those when Ock was in the mental hospital and his spider-man-themed nightmares caused the arms to break out of their restraints and come "rescue" him.

You have it right, the specific issue was Web of Spider-Man #4.

Sounds like it's from the Ghost of Hammerhead arc.

It is indeed :woot:

Ultimate Spider-Man
, Hollywood arc. Near the end, on the plane. After the tooth extraction, as I recall. :)

ASM number... oh, I dunno. The Carlyle arc, first part of it. When Carlyle's offering the doctor a consulting job.

Right you are, and at this point I can't remember the issue number either... wait (checks notes) UltSM #57 and ASM #43 I believe.

A classic line from "Web of Death". :)

A fan favorite. Mostly because of The White Armani (drools)

Again, I know the arc, can't recall the issue. The one with the hallucinations-fears guy with the prosthetic limbs scheme who thought he could use Otto as a minion... idiot. *smirk*

Fusion learnt his lesson the hard way in Peter Parker: Spider-Man #39, didn't he?

The Ramos Ock arc in Spectacular -- the comic, not the TV show a'course.

#10, to be technical about it!

SpecSpidey cartoon, "Group Therapy" IIRC.

Correct!

D'oh! Copypasta can be a b**** sometimes...
