Gwen Stacy? Are you for serious, here? I can't roll my eyes hard enough to get the point across.

I don't want to be at work until 6 tonight. Bleh.

Ooooo! Do it! I, too am a terribly busy person but if I can find a way to contribute, I will. [having recently hit a roadblock with Carnage... ]

I'll post it when I get home and find the paper I wrote all over. I have a sneaking suspicion its not as good as I thought it was at 1 in the morning, but oh well, like it or leave it. :)

I take it this was the BIG NEWS that Avid was talking about.....:( :down I don't like it

After further thought, this news has a mighty effect upon me: every time I think about it, I feel an overwhelming urge to yawn.

Why am I supposed to care about this.

How many "hot" chicks can we cast in this movie? And why even bother? They'll "uglify" her just like they did to Dunst; I could almost begin to think Sam does not like women much, with the way they all end up looking like Aunt May onscreen. The definition of what is considered "hot" nowadays really has me raising an eyebrow.

I guess my stance is that I am not here [as in, in the theatre or buying the DVD] to see Peter Parker's love-life; this is the root of my problem. Something in me lacks. I dunno, I show up expecting to be sitting on the edge of my seat, thrilled with awesome clashes between paranormal opponents. Instead we are getting "Love, American Style." This bores me, fellow fans of dynamic action centering around characters we care about; it incites no fervor within my breast to see it.

I had this stupid idea the films should be about Spidey's struggles to overcome foes so powerful that he can just barely overcome them, and each time that foe should become more powerful. Silly me.

These films are not for -us-, it is clear. They're for the tween-age crowd.

I feel a vast and echoing disappointment. "Well, that's just you" some might say... but I wonder how many other people not even on the Hype are thinking the same thing. Any potential plot with all these characters I can think up, ends up being stupid, I cannot think of anything so much as coherent.

I do not have a good feeling about this.

I'll admit I have to agree with that - more than half the time for these movies, most especially SM2, I felt like we were watching soap operas. And I despise soap operas. The drama! I get enough of that in everyday life, why do I want to pay nine bucks to get an extra dose of it?

So does that mean MJ is gonna kark it? And if she does, I hope it's a spectacular swan dive off the top of some building, aided by a certain someone wearing tentacles.

At this point, he can throw the entire *cast* off the top of the Chrysler Building, for all of me.

edit: dear Christ, have you people seen the Spoilers forum.... I feel sick right now. Variety is saying Gopher is indeed Venom.

Words fail me.

:ogles at news and shrivels up:

Why does it seem more and more like this is all a terrible nightmare that we can't wake up from?! :(

Every new piece of news we get for SM-3 makes us feel worse and worse about this movie.Seriously can anyone name something encouraging we've heard or even rumoured?? I know I sure can't.

Anyways on a lighter note,I managed to score this off ebay.A personally autographed SM-2 pic from Alfred Molina:

I feel so lucky to own this.To think the great man himself held this in his very hands :D

why's everyone so down about this? We see names, we freak out the movie will suck... you just don't know till you see it.

You're very, very lucky that Ock takes a shine to you. Otherwise, he might punish you for your crimes against reality.

:wolverine

lol, punish me, please. And I don't quite see it as a crime against reality as much as I see it "not counting my chickens before they hatch into half-mutated-sandy-monsters".

Which would you prefer, Nick: to keep your hopes low and be happily surprised when the finished product is released, or keep your hopes high and be disappointed?

The negative emotions that come with assuming the worst (in this case, assuming the truth) last up until you're surprised with something better than you expected. The negative emotions that come from naively (is that a word?) expecting a good product and seeing something crappy when the moment of truth comes last indefinitely, to whatever degree they happen to be.

Topher Grace as Venom.
Read that last phrase again, pretend you're looking me in the eyes, and tell me that you think this movie's creative team has their sh1t together. Go ahead, do it.
If you feel stupid when the movie comes out, it'll be your own fault for denying the obvious.

:wolverine

Well, it's like this, Nick:

You know how they switched Ock all around, and had him quoting poetry and other such anomalies...?

They're about to do *100 times worse* to Venom; that is why everyone is so upset. That's all the detail I'll go into, since this is the Ock thread, not the Venom thread. We've went from "ho-hum, this sounds totally boring, but maybe it can be saved" to apocalyptic craptasticness. And so people get negative.

True but I still don't like the idea that Grace is playing Venom :o :(

Think of it like this.

We knew CINO was a monstrosity of crapiness loooooooooooooong before that hit theatres. We didn't need to see the movie to know it was going to flop like a cake.

And flop it did. They made a complete sham of the Catwoman character, much like Raimi may do if he makes Grace Venom,or introducing Gwen Stacy at this late stage. The movie is too crammed with characters as it is.Ock fought for 40 minutes of screen time, and he was the main and solo villain.

Raimi's doing it all backwards, bringing in Gwen now.She missed the boat when Norman was at the bridge.

Exactly. The most famous thing Gwen ever did is die.

Doc Ock also missed his chance to knock a chimney on her old man, killing him.The Stacys are a very unlucky family ;)

at least that's an honest opinion and not a blanket statement.

I keep envisioning venom as everyone else does... CGI. So whose to say Grace even has time to screw it up? I respect that opinion though.

Didn't expect a good movie off hand, I just don't already assume a bad movie, but I forgot. People are like the media sometimes and bad news/stories/rumors are more entertaining ;) It will indeed be hard to top the Doc Ock session, but you see, I still enjoyed that second movie, despite the drama-esque slowness of it. I liked the Doc Ock attitude... EVEN though it wasn't perfectly true to the comics. How could it be, there's so many different arcs.

Maybe you're catching on to why I'm so "naive" or in the case of entertainment, I like to call "open".

If you feel stupid when the movie comes out, it'll be your own fault for denying the obvious.

hehe, you're a funny peer-pressuring person you. quit it :) I respect your opinion on not liking the whole movie cause of the casting, but I obviously disagree personally.

Ock, you've clearly worked very hard to educate your disciples properly, but you've still got more work ahead of you. A man should keep his house in order. ;)
