I'll have you know Otto is a full five minutes older than Pete in Boy Genius. So there.

Your strip is a well-drawn parody. 'Year One' is a $hittily-drawn revision. If I had a mad-on for you on account o' 'Boy Genius,' you'd know about it. :o

I know that facted tritium globe is just awful, but I can tell you this much: it's truly "awful" to draw, too. I was getting worried I was going to wear through the paper, I did so much erasing on that. It will probably get a bit more tweaking, but it'll never be perfect, because geometry and my brain are strangers to each other.

The tentacles have changed a bit, I'm using a hybrid I culled in part from the movie book. I swear I have tried, and I now totally understand why Bagley draws the pincers as all but organic things with no jointing. Good God, what a fight.

Since I'm using my own hand wearing a dress glove as a model for his, I'm a little concerned his might look too feminine. I'll see what I can do.

Can you see what's going on near the edges of the paper?! Heck no. :)

I love it

The tritium ball looks awesome. Is that electricity or something between it and Ock's fingers?? His hand looks fine btw.

Love the detail on the tentacle pincers.Very cool.

Keep these progress pics coming Sym.

As soon as my net stops acting up hopefull that red X will become a picture. :) Can't wait to see it.

And Logan, you're such a sweet-cakes. I'm doing a drawing wherein kid Logan is about to wail on a fellow student. Which so fair un-seen character cameo should it be?

The top half of the tritium globe will be lit from above by the tentacle. The bottom half will be in shadow, and I'll have yellow/golden plasma arcs coming off of it like like they do during the experiment, sort of.

Does this make sense? No. I just like special effects & consider them fun to paint. :(

[If BC hasn't shown up in Boy Genius yet, have Logan wail on her. It's an idea whose time has come! I am bad... irredeemably bad to advocate violence toward female characters.]

If this is a test to see if I've read every strip and therefor would know which characters have and have not been seen in cameos... I failed. :(

Has the Toad been in it yet?

Oh I get what it is,it's those energy stream things that emit from the fusion ball.Something like this:

Very nice touch Sym :)

Funny you should mention that,Felicia Hardy was just recently introduced as Eddie Brock's prom date :D

Sym - great rendering on those tentacles and spectacular job on the hand. I don't think it looks particularly fem, maybe the only thing you might do to 'man' it up might be to make the fingertips less pointy and more blunt, square shaped. But that's being SUPER picky and it wouldn't bother me either way.

I can see your pain with that tritium ball though. Yeesh - I wouldn't want to tackle that at all. I'd rather draw all of his tentacles in painstaking detail. Have you tried nabbing up a screenshot of the tritium in that one scene in the movie where he's going to grab it out of Harry's safe in the wall? You might try lightboxing a print out of the tritium ball underneath your drawing to get those shapes down smoothly. But seriously, if you're gonna color this baby up, you could probably make it through with some shinies and put lots of flares around it. :D

Either way, very impressive.

Sorry if it sounded like a test to you; I'm not that clever to find ways to air your dirty laundry about lack of loyalty to a comic strip. :O Toad hasn't been in there, but I ended up putting him with someone else. :)

Did you post it yet?

Sym, I'm sorry I never commented! I Think it is coming along great and I can't wait to see some colors or shading put into it. I'm excited for this piece.

Keep it up! :)

[wonders if that would actually work] Now there is an idea.... that is some THICK paper though, it's high-grade watercolor paper. I may see what I can do with that, IF I can see through it. I'll have to improvise, since I don't own a light-box. What I should have done was set this idea up and then took it to clinical with me, our debriefing [debriefing = nurse-chit-chat about patients] conference-room had one of those Radiology light-boxes on the wall, you know the kind, so dr's. can look at X-rays. I wonder what my instructor would have said had I popped the artwork up on that & started tracing... :) She's a cool lady, though, she would not have gotten mad.

Thank you Logan, Nick & everybody for your kind comments. This has just a bit more to go before I start inking, and after that comes the paint. Every project I do gets that much more difficult than the last, I am expecting some real hair-pulling with this one :) But that's the kind of thing that stretches you as an artist.

Woah! I stop going to the Lair for a few days and these master pieces show up? Beautiful job Sym and...whoever drew that other one

If all else fails, construct your own light box - if you've got a window with direct sun, that'll work. Got a coffee table with glass panels in it? Set a light underneath it. We managed all sorts of strange get ups before I got a lightbox. :)

Can't wait to see the next stage.

Awesome drawing Sym, it's really coming along nicley. I can't wait to see the final, finished version. £10 says it'll kick ass. :venom::up:

Also, am I the only one who thinks that S6 Doc Ock statue looks....well, kinda crappy?

*ducks & covers*
