I've got every amalgam issue that was put out by DC/Marvel and I loved a number of them. Most of the amalgamated characters were very cool, though admittedly a few were total crap (generation hex, lobo the duck)

I wish Marvel/DC would collaborate on a mini series focused on a couple of these characters sometime.

What did you guys think of the amalgam comics?

LOVED them. There were some clunkers, but mostly pretty fun and interesting!

I liked just about everything from the first batch of them, but never got around to reading any of the second batch. The only ones that interest me are Iron Lantern and the sequels to JLX, X-Patrol, and Spider-Boy. Never did get around to reading them though. Were they good? Any other suggestions out of that second batch? And I'm not much into the goofy stuff... so no Lobo the Duck or Darkclaw Adventures.

It was nice as a one-off thing, but I don't really need to see the Amalgam universe again. Access could actually be a cool DC character now that they've got a Multiverse again, though.

I did miss the Amalgam universe, thankfully.

Obviously I liked Challengers of the Fantastic. Good idea and didn't resemble the everyday Hero Comic. Felt like a throwback.

I also liked Bruce Wayne : Agent of Shield

:ff: :ff: :ff:

I missed Amalgam, but my aim has improved since then. :D

I loved her:

and I would love to read more of her stories and world :D

Doesn't the Diana from that story wind up partnering with the Amalgam Punisher dude in Bullets and Bracelets, too?

Yeah she sure does. There was a lot of good content in those amalgam books.

For the person who asked about the second batch: anything JLX or X-Patrol was pure gold imo. Bruce Wayne: Agent of shield was also amazing, which really surprised me because I'm neither a fan or bruce wayne or of shield.
I wasn't a big fan of the Iron Lantern comic but it was alright (note: I don't like green lantern or iron man comics).

Bullets and Bracelets was great (kinda like a low powered wonder woman teamed up with punisher).
Assassins was also awesome. Not even sure which characters were combined for it but it was great.

Amazon, Dr Strangefate, and both Super Soldier comics were also awesome. Speed Demon was a really neat idea (combining ghost rider and flash) but the comic itself was only mediocre to me due to one character's speaking only in rhymes, found that very irritating.

I also recommend the two crossover mini series DC/Marvel: All Access and Unlimited Access for the really cool interaction of DC and Marvel characters if nothing else (I really liked both). Though I will warn that there is one terribly written part where Venom takes on Superman and is winning until help arrives. How's that for character inconsistency!

I still have to read Unlimited Access, I have All Access and we do get to see Amazon in there for a bit, plus the X-Men vs the JLA!!!

What I loved most about Amalgam was that the books were written as if the characters had existed like forever, even referencing books that never existed like Contest of the Amazons 456 or stuff like that, they even had letters pages like any normal ongoing. I really loved that.

I'm not sure I miss it, but it was kind of fun. I remember thinking it was an awesome idea back in the day and preordering ever issue of it. If they did it again, I'd probably pick it up.

it was enjoyable and had some cool concepts, but it was more a product of the times and wouldn't really work today.

though it would be cool to at least acknowledge the fact that doc strange ahs the enitre universe in his home from the all access series

i know dc and marvel both own access so neither can use it without the others say so, i don't know maybe and interesting idea would be strangefate leading the amalgam universe to destroy the marvel and dc U

That's a great idea! And they could make a big event of it. Since Marvel and DC seem to have an addiction to big event storylines at this point anyway might as well make an interesting one.

I had some kind of comic ordering thing myself back then, and I ordered every issue of both sets. I got a nifty Amalgam poster that's still on the wall in my childhood room to this day. :)

Regarding the Bullets & Bracelets comic: Obviously two of the Amalgamated characters are Wonder Woman and the Punisher, but who else is involved in that? I don't know why "the Punisher" is blonde, for example.

And who were the two amalgamed in Assassins? I'm thinking one was Catwoman and Elekctra and the other was Daredevil and I'm assuming a DC female character. Anyone know for sure?

Assuming that Wikipedia is right, Assassins consisted of Catsai (Elektra and Catwoman) and Dare (Daredevil and Deathstroke). Now, why Daredevil and deathstroke would combine into a woman is a question i'd like answered. perhaps they have some internal feelings they've never shared .

And apparently Punisher is blond because he's a combo of punisher and DC's Steve Trevor (whoever that is).... I just glanced over his info and he's apparently the equivalent of lois lane to wonder woman.

It'd be really cool to see some other comic companies doing this too and making merged versions. I'd love to see The Darkness merged with, well, just about any major DC or Marvel character!

Or imagine Wolverine and Spawn! Oh, the possibilities.

Ooooooh, he's the Punisher and Steve Trevor. I get it now.

And, to be fair, Steve Trevor's become pretty obscure. He might as well not even have existed at all these last twenty years.
