Something ive thought about with all the new batman movies. To me, begins and darknight are a trilogy in waiting. But there development has only be singular as if they only wanted to make one movie then see where it goes.

Now each movie so far has been great, Heath really won that part of joker... But im thinking, maybe they should of had a treatment for at least each three movies... it was a throw away joke at the end of Batman Begins where they had the joker card. But they found that the joker was brilliant enough to pull it off. But there is no thread to go into the third movie.

Personally i think the best node that you have is that during the dark knight the question of who is the batman? could drive a character like The Riddler to try and solve it. I love the riddler, and he sounds a dead cert but im begining to figure that riddler is the wrong choice...

To top Dark Knight you would need say, The Riddler, Pengiun and Mr.Freeze all alternatively done, could you imagin what mr.freeze would look like, no no no, im talking focus on Mr.Fries the scientist.

No cuz I feel the Dark Knight would've suffered as a stand alone movie.

That being said, it could've been the greatest trilogy ever made if planned from the beginning.

I think they're doing just fine as is.

I thought Nolan and Goyer did originally plan out a trilogy.

^ Indeed they did. Their third film was to be The Joker scarring Dent. So, essentially, the third movie became the last half of TDK. That being said - Goyer only went through the villain choices for the trilogy, so it's quite possible that they're still following their original plan and coming up with new villains to substitute.

That's silly. Any villain can be in a movie that's better than TDK and those three villains would not be my top choices to "top" The Joker anyway...

But there is no thread to go into the third movie.

Batman is on the run from the police...that's a bigger thread than a Joker card.

I think that was just a silly internet rumor. I'm pretty sure Dent's scarring was always meant to be in TDK.

Of course they ironed out a trilogy. Even if Nolan had decided not to come back for more, it's always good to plan out what each individual film will be & how they'll all connect together before beginning the first film, to prevent just throwing anything together for a sequel. It's just a smart way about going about a franchise like Batman, even if you only end up doing the one film or none of them.

Thank you to the last two posters. There's no need for further discussion.

i also think nolan is doing fine as is, although it would have been nice to see two face get his own movie and not some 5 min long scene. but then again that'd mean no riddler :woot:

just be glad we got closure from heath ledgers joker, it'd be horrible if that was wat they were doing and he didnt get to finish.

heard that too, I still believe they have secretly planned the whole trilogy from the very start.

If I recall correctly, they said, the third film would have been the second half of TDK but they decided to do it in one movie instead, because Nolan doesn`t like to think in sequels.

If that was true, why did they plan TDK that early on, way before the release of BB?

No, I guess Goyer has the same plans for Nr. 3 he had 5 years ago. Probably they have to change some stuff because of Ledgers death, but thats it

There were reports that Nolan and Goyer had a basic storline for three or maybe four movies. As Nolan said, they´re out to finish the story they started, so they have a plan.
