i personally like the idea of hulk getting bigger with anger, just cause it makes hulk seem more angerer and more powerful.....what do you guys think?

nope, Ang f**ked up on that one

I think it's a great idea as long as the relationship isn't linear...

He gets initially bigger anyway so why not elaborate on this. Madder he gets, the stronger he becomes, the best way to showcase this is by increasing his muscle size but there is only so much this can be done on one scale so when he gets even more angry, his size goes up and then there is all the increased muscle mass that can now be shown to add even more anger to this size.

it's a very easy pictoral way of showing hulk getting stronger. ESPECIALLY without the use of any dialogue.

people are merely upset that he could end up growing to a crazy size but most people must realise that in any movie or when recreating any character in the real world, you must understand there is a limit to blind rage a 'peak' anger people get to and with this will come the peak to the hulk's growth size.

The growth option also makes it easier for him to do certain feats, a car that he may need to pick up with two hands when he's not so angry, he can fit in the palm of his hand and throw like a football when he's larger and pissed. It's clear a larger hulk can perform larger things, especially on the big screen because his size has been altered for years in comics to have him perform feats the writers have wanted him to.

with a smaller size he has more intelligence as well and then becomes relatable to humans, there can be simple speech in like a 7 to 9 ft hulk but as he grows, he gets more enraged and you get less reasoning out of him and he becomes more destructive and less methodical about his means of destruction.

as long as his growth to larger sizes doesn't happen very soon, i think it's perfect because maybe in the ang films it happened soon both times it occurred and that made it hard to relate to the smaller beings (humans).

i thought if there was anything they wanted to keep from ang lees, movie that would be it, just not make him as big as he was in the first movie

Not really liked it, it's the incredible Hulk, not the inflatable Hulk

I like the idea that he get a little bigger when he get madder and stronger... but not to 15'... just a little, that gives the idea of growing power and rage.

Completely stupid! Getting bigger and bigger was the worst idea! Like November Rain said, musculatur is one thing, more ripped and veiney to the point where he looks roided out would be cool but taller is just not working! Also the face more and more distorted would be good, like Jeckyl and Hyde...

The thing is Ang didn't make him that much bigger, only big enough to interact with military equipment as so that they were on the same scale.

Again, there is only so much anger that verbally and physically one can portray at a given size without dialogue.

The problem is that people will think this extra growth is probably limitless like the hulk's strength when in reality when it comes to showcasing this on a film, there IS going to be a limit to the size because the hulk IS going to have a strength limit simply based on what feats are feasible to show and work into a storyline.
it's all about scale.

if you exhaust all your options in one film, there is nothing to build on in subsequent films.

This is the reason why anime characters go through transformations regularly to show an increase in strength/speed/power, they do it by introducing another scale based on a physical characteristic change.

I would be simply happier with increased eye dilation showcasing this trait BUT physical growth is the simplest, easiest and most effective way to show this.

I hated the getting bigger thing. It looked really bad when he was down in the bunker with all the foam, that just looked cartoony and when he was at the cabins fighting the dogs it looked horrible. I think 8 1/2 feet tall is fine. If the director or CGI people cannot show anger good enough to impress an audience then they should not be making films.

you know it's not really shown in the comics either, it's mainly stated in text or thought bubbles of either the character or another character.

ps, he was about 9 ft when he was down in the bunkers originally.

the rest of the cartoony argument is more about the cgi than the actual size.

To be fair, i've never seen a non verbal cue for the hulk getting stronger in comics but you can't have this type of dialogue continuously occuring in the films.

Even bill bixby's hulk was never shown getting stronger, he was at base level throughout the tv run as well as the show.

The 'getting stronger' has been carefully avoided in the 3d world but it's been done in a way people didn't notice. You have to at least give credit to ang lee for attempting it.

I'm not particularly sure of a better and quicker way or doing it Strange, it's certainly not obvious.

I feel the next film may mentions, something about his anger strength ratio but they won't go into practice of actually showing this change in power like lee tried to do.

Isnt that how its suppose to be?

Remember the onslaught fight?

again another example of how action is derived/explained via dialogue.

dialogue explaining his anger rather than letting the pictures tell a story (which happens to be what films are about).

Nope...never been a part of the character in the comics, so why place it in the movie. A simple line of dialogue....."he seems to be getting stronger as he get's angrier" would suffice. Growing Hulk = The Suck....

One size only.

I do like the idea of getting stronger as he gets madder like he does in the comics.

I dont see what was the big deal...the idea got so much backlash(reminds me when Spider-man flipped over organic web :whatever: )
Big deal, he gets a little bigger, its done to show that he gets stronger, I mean as long as hes not freakin King Kong or Godzilla...Im cool with it.

I'm with you

The getting bigger to make him stronger just seems like a lazy way to show the hulk getting mad. When Wolverine gets angry and goes into bezerker rage he doesn't need to grow bigger or anything like that he just screams loud and loses control. With the Hulk and the Abomination being in this new movie it just wouldn't work if the Hulk grew and the Abomination did not and if they both grew it would be really stupid. The Abomination needs to seem stronger than the Hulk when they first meet and the Abomination needs to kick the Hulks butt. Then the second show down the Abomination should start out with the advantage and then as the Hulks anger grows he gets stronger and you can see it by his intensity and his rage. He should then start to be able to handle and then overpower the Abomination. This could all be down with out the growing.

No, jesus that was stupid. 15 foot Hulk was the absolute most laughable part of that movie. I like having a 9 foot Hulk being able to kick the ass of monsters twice his size. It's just a really cool image. It kills it if he's that huge himself.

It was not stupid... it was realistic. The nano-meds answers to frustration(interpretated like a physical damage) producing new cells... then there is the physical growth...

worst....idea....ever!! he looked so stupid at the biggest size. he didnt do it in the comics, dont get him to do it in the movie! im so sick of these comic movies changing waaaayyyyy to much!! galactus any one??
