Does anyone think that Green Lantern is going to end up getting slammed by critics?

Like real bad, I shouldn't care, but I only do (care) because I don't want to end up knowing that inferior movies did better with the movie critics in general than it. And I also don't want it to be 'Razzie' worthy. Those awards are reserved for awful movies after all. To further shed light on my original concern, movie critics can be an unpredictable and 'very' picky bunch, lastly I want to make it clear that I am not looking for an opportunity to be 'happy' just because the movie critics in general dug the movie.

I am more worried about how it performs at the Box office because in truth that's what really matters, this whole project has been a risk from the get go. The first cosmic Superhero film, if it does well it could open up a whole new avenue in Superhero movies. Think of a Silver Surfer movie done, right without Fox having their grubby little paws on it.

I think it'll do good both critically and financially. Well enough for a sequel, which is all I care about. The fact that it's been undermarketed to the general audience could help it become an overnight fever hit.

Movies don't usually get crushed by the critics unless they actually suck, so I really hope this doesn't get crushed by critics.... That said, reviews aren't all that important to me. I want to like the film and I want sequels.

I'm much more concerned about box office.

Captain America is the one i'm afraid.

Razzies are actually reserved for soso movies in the spotlight that a small circle of critics use to promote their little show.
So yea if GL does gang busters but is so so, it will be there.

Every movie has the possibility of being slammed by the critics... but the critics have liked comic book stuff like Spider-man 1 & 2, Iron Man, TDK, all of which are >90 on Rotten Tomatoes... so if GL is truly good, it will be up there as well.

I'm more concerned about how the general public who are not familiar with GL are going to react because some of my friends are like "wow, you have to charge the ring?? Lolz!"

It will if the movie sucks.
Worrying about it is lame.
Nebbishly starting a thread feeding into it is even lamer.

Why is worrying about it lame? If there is one thing that I don't like, it's b.s reasons. Secondly, I don't appreciate your antagonistic attitude, it's not like I said that the movie is going to be one of the worst comic book movies ever or that it's going to be the worst one. Lastly, it's not my fault that movie critics can be very picky and 'judgmental' when it comes to reviewing movies.

I dont think this will be slammed. I think theyre will be a lukewarm reception (50%-65%) from critics and myself

I hope to be surprised

I think that the cosmic stuff will be great, while the earth stuff on the other hand end up ranging from 'average' to 'great' to 'good' (but not in that particular order).

This.

I 'solemnly' swear to not break the commandment that is "Thou shall not have a curious moment pertaining to a comic book movie."

:whatever:

I actually think/hope it'll be a hit.

I doubt it'll get slammed by the critics because people who have read the script say it's good. I predict a tomatometer of 70% or higher.

I don't care what critics say. It won't change the movie for me.

Why would the critics slam Green Lantern?
That's a horrible thing. I mean, can you imagine how horrifying that would be?
I wonder how they would go about it. Just like...come up from behind him and slam him?
ugh...I hope he's prepared for that kind of stuff. Poor Green lantern.:csad:

Oh there will be some critics. Why you say? More than likely because SciFy and comicbook films may not be their cup of tea or they might not like either one of the actors or the director in particular. I wouldn't worry too much about one or two critics, but rather the consensus of the reviews as well as the first two weekends after the film releases.

I think Lucifer here is trying to take the thread's title literally. Lucifer is trying to be funny.

I think that the movie will do good enough at the box office (if the movie isn't 'undermarketed') and if the footage continues to be good enough before the movie is released, and thankfully, this movie will be "critic proof". As for word of mouth, I don't think that it will have a big impact. I just don't think that many people care for spreading the word when it comes to a movie wether it's good, bad, or alright. I'm hoping that the movie doesn't somehow wind up in 'obscure' territory come June.

I think there's going to be more of a slanted view towards Green Lantern than the Marvel films. That's just the vibe I get online...that Marvel's films will work and DC's Lantern, even if good, won't get the credit.

Why do you care if the critics slam Green Lantern. If you enjoy it, that's all that matters.

What, you need some kind of validation? That the movie you like is liked by others? If so, i feel bad for you.
