so my mom was lecturing me on how i stopped going to church like almost 3 years ago and how she blames thjat on my poor performace in school this semester, i gave her a real wtf look. i don't want to say that god should'nt be the first place to go when you're in trouble, i think he's helped me through alot. but to say god is basically a good luck charm, is kinda insulting. the reason i stopped going to church is that im not really into oragnized religion, so it really pisses me off when people start to blame my problems on menot going to church and telling me how im not praying.

whats up these people?!

Mine says the same whenever I don't go with her on Sunday. You need the lord in your life, that's why you sometimes don't have any direction. It's basically the same principle as being involved with any group or social function, people feel it'll make you more well rounded. Also, please don't turn this into a religion bashing thread, we already know your thoughts on the subject.

No, i have never been to church, even though i believe in a higher power.

Well you don't have to be in church to have a connection with God. Also, it's not so much a good luck charm but being in His favor you'll be blessed, doesn't mean you won't have hard times though.

I went to church to appease my grandmother for a while. Didn't do anything for me except leave me bored, uninterested, feeling lied to and in the end grouded for upsetting the kids in Sunday School.

I think its all a farce IMO, worship a being you never met seems odd to me. Im a human first kind of guy, Humans and humans alone through good karma can make their own lives better.

I dont go to church and my life if just fine.

Amen! My view on the subject exactly. We are the keeprs of our own sin!

Well, to each their own I suppose. Well to the first post: Sometimes church can help emphasize faith with it's various sermons, but it can also hurt(test?) faith with the people who you fellowship with there. There's alot of divisiona nd two-facedness at many churches. But then again, if you feel motivated to go because you think it's God telling you, then by all means, go. But I don't think you should have to go because of what some else's opinion is on the subject. But I'm of sound mind that Organized Religion is good at sometimes ruining good things.

It gives you the illusion that it makes ur life better,

No, it's a waste of time.

If you need a building to find your GOD, you have bigger problems then that. Like a few people above said, take care of one another and yourself, then the good things in life will come and have meaning.

When I went to church when I was younger, I didn't see the point of it really. I mean, if God and Jesus love you and that, would they mind if you didn't go? Why not do it somewhere else? If you still have faith and that, surely they'd know?

Isn't it written somewhere "Where two or more are present" or something. You don't have to belong to a huge congregation.
I always get really bad vibes when I go to church,I'm super sensitive to stuff that's not right, one day it will implode when I enter I know it. :csad:

Going to church is great, but going there doesn't straighten things out. Faith in God does that.

I get bad vibes too. I've been in a few different places, and the only place that didn't give me a bad feeling was the society of friends meeting hall. All the others made me twitch.

Interesting, ask for me, im an exile a wanderer. I walk that thin line between beleiver and non-believer lol. I don't need church or a god, and if that means im going to hell, then so be it.

Ah church the best place to find all kinds of freaky ladies.

The marriage woman who cheats if you wink and notice her.

Daddy's lil angel who will screw you 6 ways from Sunday.

The Preacher's daughter who does more drug than Courtney Love.

You got love church...

My mother is a full blown goddess worshiper who believes in making our own choices. I decided to believe in me. I don't need to look elsewhere for strength. If I can't do something, it is because I am lacking, and I need to rectify that in myself, not ask someone else to do it for me. As such, I am the keeper of my own sin.

Some people prefer to practice their worship/religion in their own homes or in more personal settings.

I don't go to church as much as I'd like, but not going to church doesn't make anyone any less of anything. I like my church because it is very small and tight knit and everyone is close. It's more like meeting with friends and stuff because it's a more intimiate setting.

i don't like churches where i feel like i'm being judged or talked about. things like that can dissuade someone from faith or going to church altogether.

God's already trying to help you GAH, you made a thread that isn't about women or relationships.

Church can make your life better. Depends on you, really.
