Infinity War Does Whatever a Spider Can - The Peter Parker/Spider-Man thread

Clearly the Iron Spider suit comes with an obvious wig.

Peter Parker is nowhere near as good as an adult. He's a much more fun and interesting superhero as a kid at school having to juggle school responsibilities with superheroism. Marvel won't do any of the tragedy and loss thing because they know that's not what audiences want from superhero films; audiences want light and breezy feel-good movies, and that has always been the best tone for Spider-Man stories.

Did you not watch the previous five Spider-Man films, in which we see the deaths of Uncle Ben - twice, Norman Osborn twice (once onscreen and once off), Doctor Octopus, Harry Osborn, Captain Stacy and Gwen herself?

Not forgetting Peter is an orphan who pines for his parents throughout the Amazing films?

Spider-Man 2 is often considered the best Spidey film, and it's full of angst from Peter who gets dealt an endless series of hard knocks by life.

Yeah I'm not sure If that guy is being serious or not

What does everybody think about the school bus finding how peter is spiderman....? He jumps out the school bus and then puts the mask on......

Students definitely know now and im sure that will spread like wild fire. Im guessing no identity for spiderman after this movie

I'm betting all the kids are looking out one side of the bus, and he sneaks out the other side.

He's so carefree with the secret identity here, showing it to aliens and sorcerers like that.
Best thing about that bit with Doctor Strange is the two Ditko characters in one room having a conversation.

lol that interaction btwn them was funny.

i bet steve ditko doesn't even care that his two most famous characters are up on screen together.

does he even get any royalties for this?

He may care for royalties less than he pays attention to either one of these characters.

yea i read a bit bout how ditko is pretty much a recluse now.

Amount of Spider-Man comics that are a school comedy: 0.

A good portion of the original Lee/Dikto run is a school comedy. Peter's high school life was a major focus of the series. The Brian Michael Bendis Ultimate Spider-Man run also focused heavily on that aspect at the beginning.

Someone on Reddit pointed out that the hair makes him look like Denny from The Room and now I can't unsee it.

Well that comparison will never leave my head now.

Really liking what I'm seeing from Spider-Man in this. Glad he's matured and becoming the Spidey we all know and love

I hope we get a TON of him geeking out.

My goodness, I hope not. It got grating pretty fast in Civil War, plus it's been 2-3 years since he got bit. He can be shocked/in awe, but given the serious nature of the threat we don't need more annoying fanboyism from him

Russos make Spidey more competent than Jon Watts does. Heck he seemed more capable in Civil War than Homecoming so that doesn't come as much of a surprise (especially given the 2-3 year time frame mentioned from Civil War to now)

I don't think that's it at all. If this were Spider-man's first (or even second) cinematic outing I have no doubt Marvel would have focused more on Uncle Ben and Peter's troubles. I think the reason they didn't do the Uncle Ben angst stuff again was because it's all been done to death TWICE in five prior Spider-man movies in a 12 year span. It's played out. People were sick of Peter's crying by SM3 even before the Amazing films started it all over again. If Spider-man: Homecoming had gone down that same path and regurgitated the same "woe is me" beats from prior movies it may have very well gotten panned as "been there, done that x 2" by critics and audiences alike. And after TASM2's reception Marvel really had no choice but to give Spider-man a fresh take to breathe life into the character again.

I must say, I LOVE Tom Holland as Spider-Man.

Don't worry, the Time Stone will revert everything back to normal again.

Ha, that’s his real hair.

He had to cut his hair for Chaos Walking. I think it is a wig. If it isn't there, I remember hearing he had to wear one at one point.

Agreed. My biggest gripe about him in Civil War.

Yep, pretty much. If it's 2 years, I wonder what age he'll be in the Spider-Man sequel. Assuming he's 17, will it be his junior year or summer before Senior year?

I could see it being Spider-Man: Summer Vacation.
