Infinity War Does Whatever a Spider Can - The Peter Parker/Spider-Man thread

If it's 2 years, I wonder what age he'll be in the Spider-Man sequel. Assuming he's 17, will it be his junior year or summer before Senior year?

I could see it being Spider-Man: Summer Vacation.

I remember reading/watching an interview where Feige said the second Spider-Man movie will take place literally minutes after the events of Infinity War. I'm thinking your assumption is correct.

My goodness, I hope not. It got grating pretty fast in Civil War, plus it's been 2-3 years since he got bit. He can be shocked/in awe, but given the serious nature of the threat we don't need more annoying fanboyism from him

Honestly, I'm not a big fan of Spidey acting like such a fanboy. I like the more old school Lee/Ditko Spidey where he's not necessarily in awe of other heroes.

I love that we have a small Spider-Man. Holland is like 5'6 or 5'7. Garfield was 5'11, but I felt he was too tall for the role. Something about Holland feels so natural as youthful and an underdog.

Though I wish they kinda did more dialogue with Rhodey or someone critiquing his use of a 14/15 year old in the airport fight.

I still remember Spider-Man 2 when JJ name dropped Dr. Strange and thought "Dr. Strange exists in this world and how cool would it be if they showed him!"

2018, now it's a reality and they're shaking hands.

How great are these movies that some may take for granted!

To be fair, Ditko Spidey became a hero around the same time all of the other heroes were popping up. Spidey had already been active for a a year prior to Stark becoming Iron Man.

Agreed with those.

I loved the moment in Ultimate Spider-Man 150 when Tony Stark was telling Carol Danvers about how admirable it was that a teenager read about his armor and knew how to use it to end a conflict in an exhibition.
He was a competent fan that did not geek much in an annoying manner.

Basically this  I remember when it was said that Ultimate Spider-Man was the main inspiration for the MCU Spider-Man, I imagined Peter and Tony having a similar relationship as the one they had in the comics when Tony agrees to train Peter (in that while he obviously admired and respected him, he wasn't some annoying childish fangirl and could actually function without informing 'Mr Stark' about his daily routine as Spider-Man or being told what to do by him). Funny enough, their first encounter in Peter's room seemed to work that way, and was actually very well done.

Honestly, him being awed by other heroes isn't bad, it's the fangirling/geeking out that gets grating. If it's been that long since he became a hero, it becomes even more annoying.

Its weird how i think this might be the best superhero film of all time and i wish spidey wasnt it.....myself being a huge spiderman fan. I just hate mcu spiderman. Especially homecoming. I loved all the other mcu movies. Beyond excited for this movie. Literally cant wait but i couldnt care less about my favorite character of all time being in this movie. Oh well i still have cap, iron man, thanos, bucky, black panther, hulk, and so on LOL

The Russo brothers seem to handle him considerably well for Civil War, I wonder how they made him for this movie, other than being callous with his true identity around aliens he's never met before this movie.

I don't think that's it at all. If this were Spider-man's first (or even second) cinematic outing I have no doubt Marvel would have focused more on Uncle Ben and Peter's troubles. I think the reason they didn't do the Uncle Ben angst stuff again was because it's all been done to death TWICE in five prior Spider-man movies in a 12 year span. It's played out. People were sick of Peter's crying by SM3 even before the Amazing films started it all over again. If Spider-man: Homecoming had gone down that same path and regurgitated the same "woe is me" beats from prior movies it may have very well gotten panned as "been there, done that x 2" by critics and audiences alike. And after TASM2's reception Marvel really had no choice but to give Spider-man a fresh take to breathe life into the character again.

They didn't do it because audiences don't want that in superhero movies. Look at how the DC films have flopped. Audiences want fun and laughter.

Did you not watch the previous five Spider-Man films, in which we see the deaths of Uncle Ben - twice, Norman Osborn twice (once onscreen and once off), Doctor Octopus, Harry Osborn, Captain Stacy and Gwen herself?

Not forgetting Peter is an orphan who pines for his parents throughout the Amazing films?

Spider-Man 2 is often considered the best Spidey film, and it's full of angst from Peter who gets dealt an endless series of hard knocks by life.

Yes, and the tragedy/loss stuff was the worst part.

He had to cut his hair for Chaos Walking. I think it is a wig. If it isn't there, I remember hearing he had to wear one at one point.
He shot CHAOS WALKING after he shot INFINITY and A4 though. They started shooting AVENGERS in January 2017 (this set video of them shooting IW is from January 2017 - https://youtu.be/sAOzrChqmd0) and Tom cut his hair in August 2017 (https://***********/tomholland1996/status/897245007261962240?s=21) for CHAOS WALKING. He had already wrapped shooting his parts for A3 and A4 by that time.

Long hair:
Here’s him in Feb 2017 - https://instagram.com/p/BQoRjokA8tn/
Here’s him in April 2017 - https://instagram.com/p/BS88I9ogN4y/

If you look at the Vanity Fair shoot AND the one-sheet for INFINITY, his hair is short with no wig and that’s because the VF shoot/media shoot was back in October 2017.

Clearly you haven't read enough Spider-Man comics. Spider-Man is constantly quipping during the school issues.
By school do you also count his grad school time? His comedy times are plenty even after graduating high school.

So are we not going to see the immediate aftermath of May knowing Peter is Spidey in Homecoming 2? That would be strange. I still think Homecoming 2 will be a prequel of sorts. Maybe its starts right after Avengers 4 but most of the film will be a flashback.

i don't think it'll be that big of an issue at first. But as the villains get more dangerous and Peter grows as a hero we could see much more reactions from May crying because her son leaves to die every night. ESPECIALLY post-IW I'd love to see a film where he tries to quit being Spidey for May. But she realizes it's for the greater good.

I certainly hope not. To not pay off that scene, which has great potential to be quite emotional even, would be seriously disappointing.

And wasn't it confirmed a while back that Homecoming's sequel would take place after Infinity War?

It's coming in 2019 I hear so I wouldn't be suprised. The question then remains how will Peter act after experiencing life as an Avenger.

I could see Homecoming 2 cold opening as Pete and May having the talk about the revelation he is Spider-Man. Maybe we finally get the Uncle Ben reference. May is worried about Pete risking his life. Pete reassures her he will be careful and not do anything where he is in over his head. May reluctantly agrees. Pete says it will be fine. Smash cut to the insanity of Spidey in Avengers 3 & 4. Then Marvel logo with the cartoon theme. And then film starts minutes after Avengers 4.

Yes, I'd go with that too. If the Sony films had never happened, Marvel's first film would have had all the radioactive spider bite, Uncle Ben murder, Peter's angst, etc. It would be silly to think otherwise.

I would hope that scene is played out in infinity war. I mean it will be weird that she ( Aunt May ) found out he is spiderman and now she watches in terror as he fights against the armies of Thanos. I mean even if she doesn't see him, she would suspect that he's involved by the simple fact that that ordeal is going on and he's not home .
