Comics Doesn't anyone else read Spider-Girl??

I read issue 90 yesterday. I know all issues can't be great, but the issue kind of stunk. And the villain is a complete ripoff of Mysterio. Both were involved in the film industry, but used psychological war fare, and I am pretty sure that exact scenario was used in ASM (or at least one very similar). Oh well, looking forward to the next ones :D I hate Frenz's work. :(

I hate Frenz's work.

I haven't gotten the issue yet, but I got a spoiler request ...

... was the legacy villain's name Misery? And if so, wasn't she the same person Spider-Girl battled in SG Annual #1?

Yeah, she kidnaps her, and puts her into a statis pod again

See, i'm afraid to see another team come in to do this book, but i know that Tom can't write it forever either. I personally can't think of anyone i'd like to see take over the reigns of my beloved Spider-Girl- i just can't. Sorry!

It wasn't the strongest story, i'll agree, but hey- ya can't win 'em all!

No, you can't. But I did really enjoy the Aunt May part and the last few pages with Normie. That was pretty intense.

Yes SpideyInATree, that was good, and not to be left out because the rest of the story was subpar. A lot of interesting things going on with young Mister Osborn!

Aloha,
This is why I don't post more often, I just got issue #89. Thought it was great. Normally a comic dealing with domestic violence would be a Give Away comic from some non profit that specializes in this area. That it was a part of regular SG continuity made it even more enjoyable for me. Keep up the great thread. I am a proud owner of the entire series.
On another note-I'm sure this was discussed somewhere on this thread-Isn't May Parker a Mutant unlike her father who is geneitcally enhanced?
Spidey rules and so does his daughter

Well Donanld, NOT exactly. Her powers didn't emerge until she was 15, similar to when Pete was bitten by the radioactive spider. Yes, she was born with the power, but they didn't development until her teens. (Did i say that already?? LOL!) So technically, she IS, but she's NOT. Forget it, i give up! (LOL! Help!)

Mutants powers usually manifest during puberty. As if they don't have enough problems at that age.

Sorry i've been away, things have gotten busy for yours truly, but i'll never forsake my duties here! (Real superheroish, eh?)

I would think that she is a mutant. She was never bitten by a radiated Spider, and yet she has the powers. So even though Peter Parker wasn't a natural mutant, I would think that the mutated genes of Peter Parker would indeed make May a "natural" mutant.

I guess you could consider her a mutant since she didn't obtain the powers the same way Peter did. Kids are born with the X-gene and May was, obviously, born with the spider power genes. So, technically you could call her a mutant. This would be a good question for Tom Defalco or for the letters section of Spider-Girl...see what they say at Marvel.

Though I wonder if baby Ben has the spider genes or not. Chances are he could, considering they are dominant genes. But there always is that slim chance he may be a regular human. :o

By the way, does anybody know how Peter was able to swing around and fight, etc. as Spider-Man during Last Hero Standing when he has been hobbling around with a fake leg ever since the Spider-Girl series began? Seems like DeFalco forgot to explain that. Or maybe whatever Loki did to the heroes allowed for this. Who knows.

I have the Spider Girl TPB with issues 0-8 or something but I never really got into the series on a regular basis. I think it is an interesting concept though.

The cover of the 50 ft. Spider-Girl issue has got me curious though. Plus I like the sound of stand alone stories.

Sorry if this has been posted before, but I thought it worth mentioning. I read a few days ago from Wikipedia that Spider-Girl has become the longest-running superhero book with a lead female character ever published by Marvel.

How cool is that?

It's crazy cool! And I think it has been mentioned before, but it's always worth reminding people how awesome the series is. :o
