Comics Doesn't anyone else read Spider-Girl??

Anybody pick the new issue today? If so, please feel free to discuss the issue!

OK, mild spoilers:

What I loved about this issue is how classic it feels. Tom and Ron really go back to the Lee-Ditko era where Peter Parker was always feeling miserable, only the mood has been adjusted to fit May's personality and problems. She tends to worry more about other people than herself.

In a way this issue is a pause in the action, checking the ammo before the fireworks start next issue. But it also shows the greatness of this title that even though the main character doesn't battle a supervillain, it's still the best comic I've read in months! Basically we see the Scriers recruiting Roderick Kingsley, and while that's going on Tom cuts back to Queens where we catch up with various members of the cast. Some have major things to say (we learn exactly why Normie hired Kristy Watson) and others give Mayday basic friendly and meaningful advice: Davida and -- surprisingly -- Felicity. My only gripe is that Peter and Mary Jane are absent for the second month in a row.

And even if there's not a lot of traditional Hoo-Ha! action, the last page will have you jumping up and down in excitement and cursing fate that we have to wait a month for the next issue. In other words, a good old-fashioned comic book!

Seeing Kingsley again made my day, I also liked the Davida / May interaction on the court, and of course Roddy showing us what he's got.

Roderick is a badass. He made the escape look like a walk in the park. Which, for him, it was. :D

I haven't read Spider-girl since issue 83 and I have been buying just trades for now due to money being tight.

Anyway I made a point to pick this issue up since the original Hobgoblin was appearing. Was not disappointed in the least, great issue.

It shows why I think Tom Defalco is a great writer.I know from past interviews he wasn't a fan of Roger Stern's choice to make Kingsley the Hobgoblin, but he has respect for other writers and the characters not to spit on them.

In my opinion the issue was a great read for either fans of Hobgoblin or regular Spider-Girl fans.

Sorry to stop you spider-girl fans but I didn't want to start a tread on it. So tell me why I should read spider-girl cus if you do I might buy the next few issues and back issues.

No TPB pacing, each issue is full of action, it has good writing, it's one of the longest series (if not THE longest) that a female super hero has starred in, and last but not least, it doesn't have a crappy "MAJOR HUGE LIFE-SHATTERING EVENT" every other month .

Oh, yes and unfortunately I don't get 97 till next week at the latest. Bummer.

If you liked Spider Man prior to the reboot than you'll really like this, simple, well written fun. With great cast, dialouge, and, did I mention the writing is top notch? Old school feel and easy to get into (I remember Shinyle saying that after starting a few months ago) essentially one of the few books designed to work your heart and not your wallet

Pitch Done

I hope you've got it on your pull list, because that puppy is selling out! :D

That may be the best pitch I've heard for Spider-Girl yet!

Alright! Now wheres my commision Blaque? :D
We're soliders on the frontline C.K.- there IS no commision for us! (LOL!) But that was a great comeback though! :p

When is the last issue of Spider-Girl set to come out?Chances are i will buy it,just for the hell of it.Its a shame,i also wished the comic had a better artist...

My comic store guy told me that Diamond had sold out of SG #97. Can anybody ask their store owner guy and confirm that?

Thanks!

And anybody out there who isn't reading Spider-Girl right now, just the latest issue a shot and see how you like it. Screw this cancellation noise. Put it on your pull list if you like. :)

Marvel had a strange press conference today to announce Spider-Girl is still canceled.

What this means to us is ...the battle is on!

This is not the time to despair. This is the time to read the St. Crispin's Day speech from "Henry V" and run out onto the field yelling like the devoted maniacs we are.

Spider-Girl 97 is selling out all over. Why? Because of us.

The next step is to get the national media to tell our story. The first thing I want you to do after reading this message is to send an e-mail to [email protected] and recommend that they do a feature piece on our never-ending battle to save Spider-Girl.

I recently put a bug (should I say spider?) in the ear of a highly placed person on the Today show staff, and if a ton of e-mails with "Spider-Girl" in the subject line started to hit their in-boxes, we stand a good shot of getting our girl on national TV.

Do it! Right now!

Because the fight for Spider-Girl No. 101 has just begun!

Well, I just got 97 today, and I must say the Hobgoblin looks as bad as ever. His escape was awesome, especially when he beat down those security people. I'm excited to see the fight next issue hopefully.

Aiight gang, you heard the man! Lets get those e-mails out NOW! Thanks Jeffers, you know how to get me excited about our S.O.S efforts again! Just for you guys FYI, i was injured in an accident last week, and i may not be around a lot. So please guys, PLEASE help keep this thread on the first page. I really believe folks are in the "know" because of this thread, and with all that we're faced against- we need to keep Spider-Girl fresh in everyone's mind. Thanks again.

Alright, i just e-mailed The Today Show in regards to Spider-Girl. So i hope that we all do our part, and send in these e-mails! Remember, they don't have to be too deep, but yet- hightlight all the things that make you love this comic/character, and why she should be a featured topic on the show. Aiight y'all, time for the meds. I'm outta here!

We hope you weren't hurt too badly, buddy, and we'll all just have to fight a little bit harder to fill in until you're up to battle strength again.
