Comics Doesn't anyone else read Spider-Girl??

Hi I"m Doc Ock 4Mugen and I'm a Spidey girl fan!
I've been a fan since issue 10... first nine read them online...
It's been awfully hard to get S-G issues but I've got near fourty(Non-repeats) of the 78-ish issues and 5 repeats. I've done my part on avoiding the C-word.
Why I like Spider-girl:
a)I'm a Spidey fan and was angry after the dissapearance of th baby in the normal continuity.
b)May reminds me of the late clone Ben Reilly which I like(Don't kill me) since she's enjoying being S-G unlike her dad.
c)I'm also a fan of the what If? series and May is the biggest What if? 78-ish issues and still counting...
as long as Wolverine doesn't become May's next trainer make mine Marvel!!! (And more Spider-girl issues for me and for many of May's fans to collect...)

C-Word?

Unless its the C-Word that can be used to describe an irritating person/lady's private bits....... I dunno which word you mean. And if it is that word.... why would you want to use it in relation to Spider-Girl?

Welcome aboard Doc_Ock4MUGEN, and thanks for not using the C-word! This is Spider-Girl Hype, where the star of this thread is May "Day" Parker, and her alter-ego, Spider-Girl! So make yourself at home, and post as much as you'd like, because a fan of your calibur needs no introduction (what a way to help out!)! Now that you mentioned it, May is very much like her "Uncle" Ben, and don't worry, we won't send the peasants with the torches to your door for the comparison!

The only thing that pisses me off about Spider-girl is the c- threat that Marvel has against her... And that she doesn't have a figure with ML articulation... May Deserves to be a Marvel Legend because she never gives up...

You're right Doc, Spider-Girl does have enough loyal fans that should be rewarded a Marvel Legends figure, (which would go nice in my collection by the way! ;) ), but Marvel'll probably come out an Amazing Fantasy figure, being that she's the Spider-Girl they'd like to promote. Ugh.

Hobby, i think you've had one too many lagers, mate! LOL!

Blaque, do you have every MC2 issue? A-Next was a great series that didn't get too much attention.

Should May get a pet kitty? This has been brought up on the Spider-Girl message board quite a few times. I think it'd be a nice touch.

Is the amazing fantasy spider-girl the Mexican/PuertoRican version? I'll stick with the spider-girl with PARKER DNA... The REAL Spider-girl...
Congo Kong: Great honest S-G reviews... Yes she should get a kitty... more responsibilities for May... I also like my Parkers to balance a lot of stuff in their lives (Sick relatives, slipping grades, missing dates, the usual lunatic runing their night... a pet might be a great addition... as long as it isn't a symbiote in disguise let Mayday have a kitty)

Unfortunately not CK, i had taken a comic hiatus at the time of the MC2 line, i was fortunate to get the Spider-Man 2099 series, 1-32, with a few issues missing, and a couple of Hulk 2099 issues as well. When i'm able to put away some free money to spend as i please, i'm planning to buy them all. Especially the whole Clone Saga, i too enjoyed Ben Reilly as Spider-Man. Anyway, i think May having a pet would really add to her sense of responsibility (as if she doesn't have enough already!), and add some great humorous dialogue! Just like Peter in "Amazing Friends", Miss Lion!

I feel you on that OCK, i like my Spider-Girl in the Parker tradition, thank you very much, and CK's reviews are really good, huh? I enjoy 'em myself!

Thanks for the compliments on the reviews. To be honest, this is one of the few times that people have responded about them.

I'm sorry to hear you haven't got all the MC2 issues Blaque. What do you have so far?

Isn't it about time for Tom and company to wrap up the current storyline? How long can this thing be dragged on for? I'd like to see a definite outcome in the next couple of issues!

Which is why I came close to dropping the book. This storyline has been really quite dull IMO. Last issue saved it though because it finally looks like its gonna be resolved. But this storyline has really been going on since "Marked For Death"!!!

Look:

Issue #61 - #66: Marked For Death (Canis takes down Kingpin and various other crime lords but gets banged up in prision because of Black Tarantula and Spider-Girl)

Issue #67: Mosnters (A break from the mobs and gangs! This is a great issue which involves those uncanny X-People!)

Issue #68: The Rules (Its a story continuing from the Buzz mini which involved Buzz (duh) Jade and a mysterious Octopussy thing at the end)

Issue #69: Those Who Hunt Monsters (More Buzz, more Jade and the reveal of Lady Ock... and Man Wolf is there too)

Issue #70: When The Abyss Looks Back (More Buzz, more Jade, more Lady Ock! Mayday 0 - 1 Lady Ock)

Issue #71: Eye Of The Beholder (Another break from mobs, gangs and Ocks! Nice little story featuring Doc Magus and J2!)

Issue #72: The Games Villains Play (More gangs, more mobs, more Lady Ock, more Black Tarantula. Mayday 0 - 2 Lady Ock)

Issue #73: All Men Are Jerks (The Claw - never mind eh? - and more Black Tarantula)

Issue #74: Buried Alive (More Lady Ock, Canis, Black Tarantula! Mayday 0 - 3 Lady Ock)

Issue 75: Team Spider (More Black Tarantula, more Lady Ock, more Canis, more gangs/mobs)

Issue 76: Keeping The Faith (More Canis, more Lady Ock, more Black Tarantula, more gangs/mobs)

Issue 77: A Taste For Treachery (More gangs/mobs, more Lady Ock, more Black Tarantula, more Canis)

So really we've had this storyline for over a year!!! No wonder I'm getting bored with the whole thing! Move on!

Well for right now i have nearly every Spider-Man 2099, a few Hulk 2099's, and of course the Stunsational Spider-Girl! (But i don't have 0-11, i started buying Spider-Girl @ issue 12, but had read the book through a friend who was a collector of comics...)

You both make a great point gentlemen, this arc does need to wrap up, but i've been enjoying it though, it takes me back to the old school when arc lasted a long time. But enough is enough, and things do seem to be coming to a close, so i'm excited to see how this will all end.

I'm looking forward to the new story arch. It seems like Toms recent Spider-Girl arcs aren't very exciting until the last 1 or 2 issues of the arc... where upon my thoughts of dropping the book are dismissed.

Well, Marked For Death wasn't bad at all, but issue 66 is one of my favorite Spider-Girl issues.

This part of the arc had a few more good issues than bad ones, I just couldn't stand the lead up to her asking Turantulla for help, with the ruined costume and Claw. I enjoyed the concept, but the execution was lacking.

I was hoping that the "gray" Spider-Girl would carry on for some time (minus her squad), seeing her desperately juggle upholding her morals and being under the control of a large scale crime boss at the same time. One that was actually skilled at personal manipulation, rather than what was actually used. Unfortunately, it looks like even the black costume is just for this storyarc and then things will return to how they've always been.

It's sad to hear how so many posters on the Spider-Girl thread (where some of the biggest fans are supposed to be) are disappointed with the book.

Blaque, MC2 isn't the 2099 titles. I'm talking about Spider-Girl's "what if" universe. That's MC2. The other titles were A-Next, J2, Wild Thing, and Fantastic Five. Mini-series were Darkdevil, and the Buzz.

I thought it was just me......

Like I said, I think this whole story has gone on for far too long it it is really starting to bore me. Unfortunately for Spider-Girl, I'm an unforgiving person when it comes to comics. I will go on at people who whine about Chuck Austen/Grant Morrison/Chris Claremont ruining their precious X-Men, I will tell them to not pay for something that they aren't enjoying and instead spend their money on something they are enjoying.

I am very close to dropping Spider-Girl at this point because it isn't providing me with enjoyment, infact it is doing the opposite and providing boredom. It never used to do this, but I am getting a little tired of Lady Ock, Canis and gangs.

I love the Black Tarantula, he's one of those villains that really made me thing "how the hell is Spidey going to beat this guy?". The truth of the matter is that he didn't, he got let off. I'm very interested in what Normie's "wife" has up her sleeve. I want to know what the hell is wrong with Moose. I wanna see more of Uncle Phil and the New New Warriors. The great thing about Spider-Girl has always been the supporting cast as much as the villains or the web-slinging or the action. At the moment, the book is missing that.

Not all is lost though, because issue #77 made me happy again and I'm really excited to see Kaine Vs Black Tarantula!!! Since Kaine is Peter to some degree I wonder how well he will do.... main difference is that Peter doesn't have Kaine's mean-streak. Its gonna be good, I can tell.

Oooh....well then in that case, i only have Spider-Girl, the complete Dark-Devil mini, and i wasn't really high on the Buzz, so i didn't pick his mini up, but i intend to soon.

Hey Hobby, i respect your feelings, and appreciate that you took the time to post your feelings about things as well. Just like you, i'm very giddy to read the upcoming issues of Spider-Girl, to see Kaine and BT throw down, and to finally see May and Ock duke it out too. Canis has turned out to be a very weak character thus far, and i hope that with this arc wrapping up, it'll be the last of him! I also miss the "Amazing Cast", that makes this title shine, and standout, i hope we'll get more school daze at Midtown High in upcoming issues. What secert is Moose keeping from Courtney that's making him brush her off the way he has? And we need to put out an A.P.B. for Phil Ulrich too, his prescence has been missed, and will May ever learn the identities of the Ladyhawks? (One being Davida, her best friend!) IMO, i feel that Spider-Girl will back on track soon enough, i think Tom wanted to enthrall us with mystery and all that. I'll always keep the faith when it comes to Spider-Girl!
