Such an awesome cover.

I'll be back in Cali next week, so i will continue on in our SOS efforts. In the meantime- i continue holding on to hope for this book.
Then it's time to make it happen! I've just returned home yesterday from my stay in Chicago, so i'm definitely gearing up for our SOS efforts.jarkoer said:#96 should start to show the first signs of the campaign's influence. Only another 9 more days. If Marvel plans on making an announcement, I think it should come sometime in April to give the creative team the time they need to work on #101 and beyond. Been planning on designing a new flier, and sending a second wave sometime in mid to late March to help keep the hype rolling up through #100. Hope to see the cover to #100 by then so that I can incorporate it, but I don't think they'll show it until this summer. Joe said that SG #100 is coming out in August (instead of July), so there's going to be at least one month without Spider-Girl.
I just told my shop I'd buy 20 extra issues to give away to people with pull-lists that include Spider-books. The owner told me he'll give me an even better discount than my usual, essentially charging me a meager 40 bucks.jarkoer said:Bit of bad news, boys and girls. Joe had a discussion with Tom. Depending on how things turn out with this campaign (and that's the big thing still up in the air), if things turn out bad then Marvel has no further need for the MC2 Universe and Last Planet Standing may be the end of the MC2. In other words, Marvel just confirmed what CylverSaber said last month -- that there's no plan for a reboot. So if anybody has been staying out of the campaign because they thought that Marvel would just relaunch the series ... well, think again. Go check out

We need to start getting hot on these letters to Marvel and to newspapers, and getting these fliers out to the comic book stores. The fertilizer just hit the fan, and we don't have much time left to make sure that #97 - #100 blows the roof on sales. I don't know when the deadline is for comic stores to order more copies of #97, but at best I think we've got maybe two weeks.
The great news is that the Hobgoblin is here to stay for a few issues. He'll be in #97, #98 and #99 at the very least. That gives us something to work on.

Come on people, if I can do that for others, you can too!
If it gains support, it's worth it.imdaly said:That is both incredibly noble and incredibly smart of you to do.
I won't be receiving one of those issues from you, but I still want to thank you for that. That's just too cool for words!![]()
Damn bro, you STOLE my idea from a month ago! But at anyrate, that will definitely help increae sales, and hopefully those that recieve the comic for free will be intrigued to pick up the book to help our efforts with saving the book. I'm about make a serious financial investment into this, and i wouldn't do it unless i felt so strongly about this book's chance to survive. Hats off to you Marc for being "like-minded", and making a HUGE sacrafice to see this thing out to the very end.Marcdachamp said:I just told my shop I'd buy 20 extra issues to give away to people with pull-lists that include Spider-books. I mentioned the idea a little while back, but it didn't seem to get much support. I really hope it works and more people do the same. I've been talking to people from all different forums and trying to convince them to start reading. I'm not convinced that this is the end for our web-stunner, and I'm still willing to fight. Hopefully more of the books readers are, too.BLAQUE-SPIDERMAN said:Damn bro, you STOLE my idea from a month ago! Doesn't anyone else read Spider-Girl??

Hi, thought I would answer the original posted question because I just started reading Spider-Girl! I got the mini Marvel Age Graphic Novel that covers Spider-Girl #0-5. I must say I like it in this pocket book format, and I plan on getting more.
I bought it to read with my daughter who wanted it when she found out there was a Spider-Girl. My oldest son is a Spider-Man fan and we read the classic comics together and my daughter wanted in on the action. Now all three of us are enjoying Spider-Girl together.
I enjoy also seeing a more mature Peter Parker and MJ, its cool seeing these characters as parents of a superhero teenager along with a look into a possible future for the rest of the Marvel universe.
I also dig Spider-Girls Ben Reilly costume, I always thought that costume rocked. I thought the art of the series is very solid and I look forward to getting to some Ron Frenz issues who was one of my favorite and I think most under appreciated Spiderman artist.
newsarama said:Marcdachamp: Joe, my question is in regards to your recent comments about Spider-Girl. My question is, how can Marvel cancel a book on the basis of low sales when they have done little to nothing to promote it? Here we have the first Marvel book to reach #100 (without stopping) in a long time, which also happens to be a book with a female superhero, something Marvel has never done outside of the recent She-Hulk #100 (which even you admitted was a lame stunt).
Where is the promoting? The hype? You recently talked about how you've taken it upon yourself to hype lower-selling books like Runaways and She-Hulk, while also hyping new ideas like Nextwave. This is commendable because those are great books that need more readers, but what about Spider-Girl? Why is it always up to the fans to help save this book? The only time I ever hear you mention it is if someone asks, or if it's being cancelled (again).
JQ: Hey, Marcdachamp, I think at least two or three times in past Joe Fridays Ive discussed how and why marketing dollars are spent, I just cant repeat it again, its too long winded. Could someone please dig it up and post it?
Okay, so that said, we have done marketing stunts with Spider-Girl in the past. She has been brought back from the brink of cancellation several times. Does anyone remember the letter from Brianna that melted Bill Jemas heart and saved the book from cancellation the first time?
But now, let me ask for a show of hands, how many people on this board right now havent heard of Spider-Girl? How many people on this board havent heard about how a good book it is? Havent heard about the troubles its having?
By the way, Ive asked this same question at convention panels and everyone raises their hands. Ive asked this at comic shops and everyone is aware of the book, how beloved it is and of course its impending cancellation. Everyone knows about it, everyone knows about its plight, yet it isnt getting more people to buy it. If everyone knows this, what the heck is an ad going to do for the book? Its not an awareness problem, I guarantee you that.
True some books go unnoticed and below the radar, Spider-Girl is not one of those books. So, looking at it from my point of view, if everyone I encounter knows this about Spider-Girl, then why would I spend any more money on it at this point, its a losing proposition. And yes, at this point with so much awareness about the book, it does fall on the hands of the fans. If more people were reading it we wouldnt be canceling it. But all that said, stay tuned, we havent completely turned our back on Mayday, just please understand that we have to be judicious with our funds and how we spend them.
