Don Payne (writer) talks FF sequel!!!

I thought he was really lacking in the first film. He was like a piece of wood. He became a bit animated at times but then would shrink back into his shell. He never looked like he had any confidence until near the end of the film. Even his voice sounded kind of weak. Surely him jumping into such a prominent role had something to do with it. I've never seen him in anything else but is that just the way he is? Hopefully he can really step it up a notch.

I was worried about Payne. Now I an much more hopefull. It seams he has a good understanding of what FF is all about.:) Stronger, more of a leader, Reed is indeed what that charactor needs. No mention of Galctus. Silver Surfer prominent is good. Nothing about Doom either. I think that is the best keep secret. I see no mention of Doom, or Julian in anything pertaining to the cast. We know the basic 4 will be there, along with SS. Mabey Doom is the big surprise. The Fantasticar. I like that very much. :) So I am much more hopefull, however I still worry about the editing idiots at Fox. That has always been my main concern. POTC shows that people will sit thru a 2 1/2 hour movie, if it is good and entertaining, and it can make a ton of money to boot. And speaking as only 1 FF fan, a 2 1/2 movie is np here. :) As long as I get to see a good FF sequel, with all the goodies we fans deserve. :)

Well Story already said we'd see the full Doom. We'll probably be cutting back and forth between the FF's mastery of their powers, the new baxter building, the silver surfer development, and Doom's rise. I think all will culminate into a grand 3rd film with Doom being killed saving the Earth with the help of the Surfer and the FF. Will we see Thanos in part 3?

Both Julian and Kerry Washington have been added to the cast at IMDB. I know it is not always accurate but they were not there before.

This ugly mug in place of Galctus ? That would work. Think it would be easier to bring to the screen then Galctus.

Tks. :)

I really believe that Galactus will not be seen until the end of the film and probably not in full to get people all hyped to want a third film. I hope Tim delivers. I liked the first movie, flaws and all, but they'll really have to get this one right if they ever hope to see a third film. I've heard people mention that Doom will likely go after Surfer's powers and that makes sense. I doubt Thanos will make an appearance in any Marvel film. The fact that FF is tackling a SS/Galactus storyline is surprising enough.

Not in place of Galactus but replacing the Surfer as the Herald when the Surfer defects.

Well, Richards being smarter and more of a leader is one of the hundred things they need to fix... Just hope there will be still enough interest in the sequel for improvement to pay off.

It's good to hear they'll try to improve Reed.

None of the characters were introduced properly in the first movie IMO, so I hope he plans on working on more than Reed. If the editing is the same it won't matter how much he writes for the characters half will be cut. BUT good to see that the writer at least WANTS TO DO A GOOD JOB.

Well that is a major problem when making a film with 5 characters with powers, on top of it being an origin movie, there's not a whole lot of time to dwell on each character, but, they did kind of screw up on Reed.
I never thought he was THAT wimpy, he was too meak even for the Nerd Reed is.
I remember the Reed back when they introduced Doom, to be more agressive, he stood up to Victor, more than he did in the movie.

Personally I think that they'll save Origins of SS and big G for the Surfer film.
I really think they are going to approch FF2 like they did in the comics, 1st the Surfer appears and the main story of SS vs FF then Galactus toward the end with Reed and the nullifier, then go onto the Surfer movie.

Im liking the sound of what this guy had to say. Reed definatley needed to be more confident, i think he showed that during the end battle with doom. I think it was deliberate, showin how he turns from nerd to becomming this confident leader.

All in all this film is sounding better and better with each piece of news.

How come nobody cares about:

The Watcher....!!!!

He was an important part of the Silver Surfer/Galactus sga in Fantastic Four 48-50.....

In some ways I'd like to see him . . .

. . . but reading the synopsis, I sort of like the idea of the Surfer coming and them not really knowing what's going on. If the Watcher is there to explain everything, it may lose some of the fun.

Also, since they didn't have the watcher in the first movie, they'd need to introduce him in this one, and that wouldn't work as neatly as it did in the comics when they already knew who he was.

Yeah but Willie Watcher could be there in the back ground, or even after Galactus appears at the end, have Watcher start talking saying something like "and the Surfer's story is for another time and place" We don't really need to know Who the Wather is just yet.

If he's there IN A VERY SMALL ROLE....go for it.....right now the screen is getting too crowded....

It warms my heart to hear that Reed's finally going to become a bigger power-player in this film. Aside from Doom's mischaracterization, Reed's taking a back seat was a problem for me.

Sounds like this new writer has a good idea of what needs to be addressed; that's encouraging.

I really don't see a need for the Watcher to be in the movie.

I mean... he alerts the FF that the Surfer's coming to alert Galactus about the planet's status. Then he gives them an explanation of what the Surfer and Galactus are... then he provides a means for them to acquire the Ultimate Nullifier and run Galactus off.

This can all be handled with just the Surfer... a third party doesn't necessarily need to be present.

That might be cool. They could even open the film with some narration from him to fill the audience in so they're a little ahead of the FF as to what's going on.

There are a lot of possibilities, it all depends on what direction they decide to go, and I can imagine a number of alternatives to the original story that could still include most of the key elements.

sounds positive but i agree with Kel and Zer00 it's only one piece of the puzzle, still a step in the right direction:up:

What worries me is he said they will try to make it funnier! The FF shouldn't be funny at all, there's absolutely nothing funny about the SS or Galactus!

Isn't it a very light hearted comic

I think he means funny, in the sense of Ben and Johnny type funny. Seeing them argue over driving the Fantiscar should be a riot. Don't think he means funny in the sense that this will be a comedy. More Ben, Johnny moments. More of the wisecracking Johnny, that is the type of funny he means, I'm sure.:)

For someone with the name Kirby fan. You don't seem to be overly familiar with the work.
