Dr. Lecter Invites you to Dinner. The ''Hannibal'' Thread - Part 1

Dat finale. This ****ing show, I just.... I can't even. Too good.

I'm guessing Hannibal and Gillian Anderson were dining on [blackout]Abigail[/blackout]?
That's what I assumed.

Is Dr Du Maudier aware of Hannibal being a psychopathic killer? I got that impression as well.

I literally flinched when Will finally saw who Hannibal really was when Hannibal was standing behind Jack. Freaky.

Wow, I did not see that ending coming. It was beautiful like others have said.

I really enjoyed how they filmed Hannibal walking toward Will's cell. He looks normal under the light but when he walked under shadow he looked kind of like the stag. Really nice.

I love this show so much!

I've been saying for over a month now that the stag was Hannibal. The way the dream sequences were syncing with real-time events was amazingly done. The way Will's subconscious was telling him it was in front of his face the whole time. Plus his line to Hannibal was ****ing brilliant it was something like "You have no trace of emotion. Which is why you were so hard to see. You were just, curious what I would do. Someone like me. Someone who thinks like I think. Wind him up and watch him go. Apparently Dr Lecter, this is how I go." OMG the goosebumps! And then Hannibal turning into the stag while him and Jack are hovering over Will, BRILLIANT! And seriously I have to bring this up again but this reminds me so damn much of The Cell, the elegance and artsy feel of it all. The cinematography in the dream sequences. I keep feeling like Will is going to stumble into a Damien Hirst painting or something

I love that Hannibal's plan all along was to frame Will... That he's been planting those lures every time he 'checks' in on the dogs. Just brilliant storytelling, and setup...

Awesome finale Hannibal at the end was so damn proud of himself seeing Will in that cell. That bastard actually cracked a smile seeing him there and his smiles are so rare you could count them on one hand. I'm wondering now if Hannibal's doctor is a killer herself and was some kind of mentor to him professionally and in others

But why did he frame Will? Outta curiosity? I get all the games and everything but actually going out of his way to frame Will seems weird to me just a bit. I do love that the lurer came back into play after seeing him making that one in episode 4

This is Network TV's answer to Breaking Bad. The cinematography is amazing, the acting is terrific, and it's simply the best thing on Network TV.

Other than Breaking Bad I've got nothing left to watch now that Game of Thrones and Hannibal have finished.:csad:

Answer is simple. Framing Will keeps the police away from Hannibal. As we saw, Will was getting closer and closer to figuring out who the "copycat" was, someone with knowledge of the investigations. Hannibal is a monster, for sure, but he'll also do anything to survive and "thrive", in terms of protecting himself and doing his best to remain free to do as he pleases. He sees opportunities to serve himself and takes them, just like how he managed to escape in Silence of the Lambs.

And another answer to that question of why Hanmibal framed Will...because he can.

I hope that's not the case. I wouldn't mind if she was in on his criminal behavior, or even a cannibal herself who has similar "tastes" to Hannibal, but I'd hate the idea of a mentor or anyone truly influences Hannibal's decisions/motives.

That's what I thought at first, but then "the pattern" she was referring to was Hannibal forming connections to patients with potenial for violence. So, it's possible, but I don't think it's iron-clad just yet.

I dunno, I really got a sense that Hannibal cared about Will in his own way. Like now everything he did was done to this end. I thought he was grooming Will to become a killer or something. Not something so simple as framing him. It almost felt like they did everything just to give us that epic image of Hannibal being on the outside of the glass when we know he'll be in there soon enough

I really wonder how Will is gonna get out of this, let alone take down Hannibal.

How long do we have to wait until Season 2?

Fantastic finale, very happy a second season will air in 2014.

Other than Breaking Bad I've got nothing left to watch now that Game of Thrones and Hannibal have finished.:csad:

The Bridge on FX debuts soon...

It may have been both. Maybe Hannibal wanted to see if he could turn Will into an empathetic killer, but he had his escape plan in play in case Will decided to "break good".

The Killing has been great and it's only three episodes in. Under the Dome starts Monday. The Bridge is also coming up shortly and that could be good. I plan on checking out the Ray Donovan show that is following Dexter in a couple weeks. Lots of good things to tide us over, :)

IGN's Post-Finale Interview With Bryan Fuller

Holy ****ing ****, that thing is creepy.
Whoa! :wow: It didnt even come to mind that Hannibal could be considered a Wendigo! That makes the creature Will sees in his encephalitic hallucination even more apt and badass.

Just in case no one knows, a Wendigo is a supernatural creature that is created when a man consumes the flesh of men.

Embarrassing as I watch Supernatural and have seen Ravenous...

I wouldn't have thought to call it that until I saw Fuller refer to it as that on his Twitter.

Hannibal sent Gideon after Alana and then Will after Gideon. No matter the outcome, Hannibal would have come out ahead: either Will kills Gideon (as happened in the episode), removing the annoyance of a plagiarist without Hannibal having to get his hands dirty and making Will even less stable by forcing him to commit murder again; or Gideon kills Alana and makes Will guilt-ridden at failing to save her (and, again, even less stable), also removing one of his most valuable ties to make him even more isolated with no one to turn to but Hannibal.
After reading that on TvTropes I'm convinced that Hannibal plans everything out like that. No matter what happens he comes out on top.

When I heard the first note at the end of the episode... "Yeeeeesss"

Typical. Only find this thread AFTER the finale. But what a terrific show and even better finale.

Ok so, I get a bit more now exactly why he framed him. That interview was great, Fuller is the ****ing man. I'm just interested now that we know for a certainty that Will still is suspicious of Hannibal. I had figured Will would end up calming down after his encephalitis subsided and end up thinking he just wasn't thinking straight or something. Good to know he will stay suspicious. What dude from IGN should have asked was something along the lines of "So we know that the main storyarc of this season was the fall out with Abigail Hobbs after Hannibal and Will entered her life but can you give us a good idea of what story may be taking the forefront for season 2?"

I live in the U.K, so I won't be able watch The Bridge until it starts over here.
