this is what i mean by "shackles of network television", as well, and there are many examples as to why an hbo show can feel way more organic than a show on nbc. On a pay-cable network, this show wouldn't have to throw in those stupid, "dramatic" place markers for commercial breaks (literally 4 or 5 per episode). And does hannibal need more blood/cursing/nudity? No, but who knows if the story would call for it at any point in the series run. It'd be nice to have the option.
And sawyer is right, this show has been extremely graphic. However, most of the time, i catch myself thinking "wow, i can't believe they got away with that on an nbc show" in reference to some extremely graphic shot, but on hbo, it would feel "just right" and those thoughts wouldn't cross my mind. It's just out of place on nbc in almost every way. It's a cinematic show that follows parks & recreation. I commend nbc for taking a chance on it, but man, they screwed up what could have been an even better, more popular show.
