People shouldn't expect it to drop the police procedural aspect. That part is definitely not going away. Its the only way a show like this could get a greenlight on a network. Considering the ratings, I would even expect the psycho-drama and trippiness to leave the show before the police procedural aspects

Creepiest episode so far for me. The girl under the bed looked like something out of the Evil Dead.

When Hannibal handed her the scissors I half expected him to ask her if she likes huey lewis and the news

Eddie Izzard has said he might run for London Mayor.

Mentally, the girl was suffering from Cotard's Syndrome, Bryan Fuller tweeted this link last night, where a person basically thinks they are dead and rotting away.

I do not know what was up with her skin, though.

Maybe it was psychological. Her own belief caused the skin disease to happen.

wait people hate the procedural part of the show...did they not see Red Dragon or Silence of the Lambs...hell even Manhunter was so procedural they took William Peterson, who played Will Graham, and made CSI with him.

It's not the investigation or whatever that's a problem. It's the "new killer every week, solved by the end of the episode" Law and Order style of procedural storytelling that is so amazingly played out on TV today.

Once this show focuses more on Hannibal and less on the serial killers he "helped" the FBI catch, it will be a lot more interesting.

I wouldn't necessarily call silence of the lambs procedural. Usually that is referring to episodic case of the week tv series

Only thing I would change is let a killer get away with it for an episode or two. It's too convenient they are so good.

This might just be me, but if your skin is rotting, your eyes are all crazy, and you look like a corpse, then you should be allowed to consider yourself dead without being told you have a mental illness.

EDIT : "could be a staphylococcal infection.... that, or leprosy . " - beverly

and the mother probably said something relating to it when will and jack were interviewing her. haven't gotten to that scene yet.

EDIT (again ) : hannibal also mentions cotard's syndrome, so whoever said that was right. lol

It's hard to keep track of Hannibal's motives sometimes. He seems at times to truly care for Will, but he's also toying with him like a cat with a mouse in its mouth.

i think he cares about him in the sense that he is his favorite "project " of sorts. he wants to make sure will is entirely dependant on him.

also, the "killer of the week " this time around was definitely the most interesting by far in my opinion .

the darker and more disturbing this show gets, the better i say. i'm enjoying every twisted, surreal , haunting minute of it .

This is probably the best episode of the season for me. Incredibly atmospheric and they really did a great job with Will's loss of time and disorientation. The scenes of Will sleeping with that weird rapid feverish breathing was uncomfortable to watch. The first time Will meets with Georgia was freaky even more so when he pulls off her skin. Gross.

Seeing how far Hannibal will go to manipulate Will was chilling to see. Im still unsure of what his ultimate goal is if there even is one outside of his curiosity with Will's pure empathy. Maybe he wants to turn him into a serial killer? Watching the indifference on Hannibal's face when he's breaking Dr. Sutcliffe's jaw was amazingly horrible. Mad's facial features really sell it for me.

the last shot of Hannibal of what he was doing was very creepy. Like i said earlier, i thought Hannibal kills rude people or people that could endanger him. That doctor did nothing? So, was it just for unnecessary plot twist?

idunno, something about the doctor made me think early on that hannibal was gonna kill him anyway. i can't quite put my finger on it. hannibal's definition of "rude " can go a long way. franklin simply unnoticingly placing a used napkin on the table in a very emotional state even bothered him. and plus he could've also either been wanting to make will believe that he himself killed the doctor, or making sure the doctor doesn't tell will about his condition.

but yea, watching him killing the doctor was indeed very creepy. the raincoat, the calmness of the action , like " oh, don't mind me, i'm just cutting someone's ****ing face open , no big deal " , his face as he caught georgia's scent realizing she was there, everything just SCREAMED hannibal lecter in an extremely creepy way.

I thatnm that Hannibal thought that the notion that doctor would manipulate and lie to Will out of respect for himself, Hannibal, was improper even though it was what he wanted... to kill him.

Hannibal doesn't exactly always follow his own "rules". Lt. Boyle in The Silence of the Lambs was polite. Didn't stop him being butchered.

I think during dinner, Hannibal got the impression that Sutcliffe would tell Will the truth about his infection before Hannibal was ready to do so if ever.
