That's exactly what I think. Well, maybe not [blackout]Abigail[/blackout], but [blackout]Miriam[/blackout], yeah.

[blackout]But hasn't Miriam been dead for several years? Even frozen in a meat cellar, that body would still deteriorate considerably. I doubt it would be recognizable. My guess is Abigail.[/blackout]

But wasn't Jack just taunted with a [blackout]"fresh" piece of Miriam at the end of last season? She's been presumed dead for a couple years, but I have this awful feeling Hannibal may be keeping her down there alive, not frozen.[/blackout]

Ehhmm.. Read this about
Miriam

Excerpts from NBC press releases for episodes 6 & 7:
Episode 6: ....Meanwhile, clues from the tree man help the BAU zero in on a location they believe the Ripper used. There they discover the most shocking revelation of Jack Crawford’s career — Miriam Lass alive

Episode 7: When Jack Crawford’s (Laurence Fishburne) star pupil Miriam Lass (Anna Chlumsky) is found alive, she becomes the FBI’s best hope to identifying the Chesapeake Ripper, but her foggy memory complicates the search. ...

I found Hannibal's actions in Episode 3 a bit confusing. He framed Will to misdirect from himself and now he's trying to save his life, I guess?

If he was trying to help Will with the bailiff murder, why did he shoot him instead of carving him up alive, thus making it different from "Will's" murders?

It's a little hard to follow exactly what Hannibal's trying to do sometimes.

Or am I totally off-base and it really was a completely different killer?

Another thought....was Hannibal taking the stand really trying to help Will....or did he know that the prosecutor would bring up the differences in the murders and deliberately **** up his defense even more?

Unless I'm mistaken, the preview for the next episode says [BLACKOUT]it was another killer.[/BLACKOUT]

The Bailiff might have been the other killer, but the judge has Hannibal's work written all over it, to me.

I know the judge was shot while Hannibal mutilates alive, but that could have been Hannibal copying the copycat just to sow doubts about Will's guilt.

Yep agree.

I also think the
idea about Abigail being the copycat makes a little more sense because the new victims have been shot because she is not strong enough to physically over power them. I know its a crazy idea but it would be awesome. She could be in Hannibal's basement though. ...

I'm going with the latter.

Considering how far he went to frame Will, I doubt Hannibal was coming to his aid. Textually speaking, he never cared for Will's safety---look at Red Dragon.

I love how Mikkelsen moves. He has such a serene stillness (which Hopkins did too, especially in Silence of the Lambs), but at key moments he just bursts into action, without warning. There's something almost otherworldly about him.

Mikkelsen used to be a professional dancer and gymnast. I'd bet that accounts for the physical grace he has.

I believe the latter to be true. That's why we had the scene of Alana explicitly warning them that once they throw out the blackout defense, they can't try it again. The prosecution tore apart the copycat killings WAAAAY too easily for Hannibal not to have expected that to happen. He knew the ploy wouldn't work, and he knew it would kill the best defense Will's team had going. I think that's why he did it.

That's a terrific description of his movements! Some of the best actors really use every part of themselves to compose a character, and Mikkelsen's background--which I did not know about until I read your post--feeds into that grace.

Well damn, I'm surprised they'd give away something so major in the episode press releases. That said...called it! :woot:

I'd just like to say Raul Esparza doesn't get much mention, but I think he does a very good job as Dr. Chilton.

Agreed. He is great as Chilton. He really pulls off that total scumbag, unethical, totally full of himself vibe perfectly

I'd go as far to say that Esparza is the best version of Dr. Chilton so far. Such a great combination of stuck-up, self-important pseudo-intellectual and officious petty bureaucrat.

Knowing Hannibal, he most likely was trying to make it seem like he was coming to his aid whilst knowing that it wouldn't go as far as getting Will out of prison. Hannibal knows that once Will is freed, **** will hit the fan.

I love this show as far as the Will and Hannibal story is concerned, but the crime scenes and cases in this show make my skin crawl! Never thought I'd say that about a NBC show. Some of this stuff is just:

I like her too, but Im gonna call foul if he doesnt kill her. I dont see how he can keep her alive. Its a risk. A risk I dont see a person like Hannibal making. Plus the preview for next weeks episode suggests he eats her and enjoys it very much. I guess that could be misdirection tho.

I wanna know what she saw down there!:argh:

She seems like such a prominent character on the show. Her absence will be missed; especially since Will has an alibi and the last person to talk to her told her that Hannibal was at the hospital. Any good investigator would immediately suspect Hannibal.

I hope he does keep her alive and decides to eat her in pieces i.e an ear, a finger, etc, so that by the time Jack figures things out and he and Hannibal fight (as seen in the season opener) , there's still enough left of her to continue in the upcoming seasons….
