Dr. Lecter Invites you to Dinner. The ''Hannibal'' Thread - Part 4

Watching season 2 a bit. I remember thinking this last year while it was airing but never gave it enough to bring it up but, to those of you that watch it, do you think they kind of downplayed how the character's react to the fact that they were eating people? Like, they basically find without a shadow of a doubt that they've been eating people since Hannibal has come into all of their lives yet, you never once see somebody puke their guts out at the thought of it or anything like that. It's kinda weird. You ate the victims you were trying to seek justice for! How are you barely reacting to this revelation?? Ok, sorry. Hadda get that off my chest. Forgot that it had been bothering me that much, guess I buried it a while ago.

He shoots, he scores! Literally posted that the second the old thread closed haha. That was like a magic trick that only I got to witness.

Well, Will had that great reaction scene whilst incarcerated when he realized what Hannibal was doing. With the other two, I guess it was a case of them not really being in on it until very late in the story, and by that point there wasn't time for it.

Yea, I guess. It's just kind of odd. Nobody hardly even reacts. Chilton kinda does but he's in so much **** that he really didn't have time to react.

Was surprised at how calmly Will handled Mason sitting in his living room, literally cutting his own face off all the while he and Hannibal had a chat.

Oh yea, totally. I mean, you could tell he was pretty taken aback but still, it was crazy how he well he kept his cool their.

I can just imagine them having a flashback episode where everyone is freaking out together then someone pops up with "It was really good though'' then they all just stop, nod in agreement and get back to work. :D

I guess if you hang around Hannibal long enough, you just get numb to the macabre. :p

I haven't watched season 2 since it aired, but I seem to recall there was kind of a freak out scene amongst some of the cast when that tidbit came to light. No? I must be misremembering then.

Evidently there's a promo for this airing during Aquarius tonight. I was watching that regardless, but still... :atp:

Guys, I need some advice. Knowing that this season will be a combination of Hannibal/Hannibal Rising/Red Dragon, should I watch Hannibal (the movie) as a warm up?

I was one of those cases that first saw Red Dragon and then Silence of the Lambs. A friend told me: "You haven't seen Hannibal? Ok, cool, just... leave it like that". Is it really that bad? Should I give it a shot?

It's better than Red Dragon IMO.

Because this is an alternate reality take on things, I don't know that you need to watch Hannibal the movie first, except to enjoy it for itself. Things will be very much changed in the show.

I know this is a "remix" of the books, but I would watch it so that I can catch the references and notice the changes. Speaking of changes, is there any official announcement on why Michael Pitt left the show?

I'd watch it if you like these stories. Gary Oldman is really good.

Just the unofficial it was Pitt's decision. But Pitt is known to be really difficult to work with, so yeah...

They're looking to be so different that I really don't think it'll be much of a difference. I mean, maybe watch the movie after season 3 if you're worried about it

Honestly, the only real warmup you need is the first two seasons of this show. Rewatching those would probably be a better way to get warmed up than watching the films, since the show is completely different from the films anyways (and will continue to be going forward).

Definitely slimshady247, the problem is that I've already done that. I suppose that I'm still hungry and June 4 can't come soon enough. The thing is that I love when they make any reference to previous versions or say dialogue taken straight from the books. I go full Peter Griffin.

Haha, in that case, you might just want to read the books themselves!
