I don't think the show's fate relies solely on how it performs for NBC, thank God. It was bred to be an international production and has sold in plenty of other countries.

Oh my god https://***********/BryanFuller/statuses/323575035073798146

:lmao:

Already he's posting weird fandom ****

That's really creepy.

Though I honestly wouldn't put it past Hannibal to **** Will if he had the chance, just as he would Clarice.

Hannibal is kinda like the Joker with the Batman. He won't kill Will because he is much too fun to toy with, lol. :p He'll play with him as long as he can.

fangirls'll ship anyone they can. they're really into gay sex for some reason.

For what it's worth, I already knew YOU were going to say that!

You don't know everything about me! :argh:

I bet you didn't know that I killed my first man before I was twelve-- it was a woman!-- SHE SWUNG AN AX AT ME!!! :cmad:

*runs away in a rage*

Do you think Hannibal would have sex with Clarice? I'll cop to never having read the books (despite SOL being my all time favorite film), so my knowledge of their relationship is based purely on the films. I never got the impression Hannibal wanted to bone her, it always crossed me as more of a relationship based off respect. That said, I heard the ending of [BLACKOUT]the book Hannibal has Clarice leaving on the plane with Hannibal[/BLACKOUT], so my perception might be way off.

That's not exactly true. The end of Hannibal is ****ing weird. I loved the book and it's great all the way up to the very end.

At the end of the book of Hannibal, he puts her under some kind of mind-controlling drugs and takes her away with him, and they end up as lovers living in Buenos Aires, where he eventually doesn't use the drugs anymore because she's in love with him (or brainwashed into thinking she is).

IIRC, it also implies she joins him in dining on Krendler's brain.

A lot of Clarice fans were not happy about the previously morally stalwart heroine riding off into the sunset with Lecter.

Yea it got weird as hell once the scene with Krendler got going. I dug that part but it just got odd after that stuff. And I'm meaning like the way it's written, it was pretty vague and I remember the whole time I was reading it I was just like "Wtf am I reading?!?"

I think some people glorify Hannibal as a character way too much, and Harris himself played into that by making him more of an anti-hero in "Hannibal" and even more in "Hannibal Rising", and having the "incorruptile" Clarice ride off into the sunset with him.

I mean, he's a great character, but honestly....he's not an anti-hero.

Oh, the eternal debate about the book ending! Shoot me, but I loved it. Weird, but so beautiful.. Anyway, it seems Fuller is really passionate about this project, as he has already planned 7 seasons, if everything pans out for him (which I doubt:whatever:):

Bryan Fuller ‏@BryanFuller 11h
.@7ErgoSum7 3 More Seasons are planned after #RedDragon, taking us through #SilenceOfTheLambs and beyond #Hannibal, the novel.#AskHannibal.

Bryan Fuller ‏@BryanFuller 11h
@Doellnerphoto I would love to bring Clarice and Will together in the final season, but can only do that if @MGM allows us! #AskHannibal

So, if MGM (and NBC) allows him, he is willing even to go AFTER the ending of Hannibal the book! Probably to bring Will back in the scene and have a spectacular finale :woot:

Some other interesting things he said on Twitter:

Brigitte ‏@Brietjuh 12h
@BryanFuller #askhannibal Do you think Thomas Harris watches the show?

Bryan Fuller ‏@BryanFuller 11h
.@Brietjuh I'm told he did and that he liked it! #AskHannibal

(Thomas Harris has a close -business and friendly-relationship with Martha De Laurentiis, the producer of the show, maybe that's how he was told-if true-).

How long before Red Dragon is Hannibal set?

#HANNIBAL is set 5 years before #REDDRAGON but there will be a time jump between Seasons 3 and 4 (RedDragon Season)

And many other things, like that Lecter would get a "romantic interest" in season 2 (so much for Hannibal/Will shippers!:whatever:)

I really REALLY wish Fuller would just stop running his damn mouth so much. If this is set 5 years prior to RD then they are eventually gonna be doing like 20 years worth of time jumps?? I just do not see this show going that direction. I mean, think about if they ever do get to use Clarice (I ****ing hope not!) then what will that mean for Will? This whole show's premise revolves around Will, the main protagonist. So basically Fuller is saying "If we get far enough and MGM let's us, I'm gonna write Will out of the show and bring in Clarice." I REALLY don't want that if I'm being honest. Will is just so much more of an interesting character plus, I don't see the general audience's getting used to a whole new lead character

Eklypze is right, the amount of stuff Fuller is giving away (at least in terms of his plans) is really unusual.

Exactly! It's just weird and I seriously feel like it should all be taken with a grain of salt. It would be weird enough given the context of the show once Hannibal is caught and incarcerated. I mean, what are they gonna do week to week? Have Will come to Hannibal every week for a new killer? I mean, I guess they could stretch Dollarhyde to a season long villain and have Will doing other cases at the same time but I just don't know. I like the formula that's going right now and of course I know that at some point things will have to change the status quo but still. I dunno, maybe I'm thinking about it too much

The individuals - male or female - who spend their time shipping characters (and creating erotica from it)-need help.

Returning to the thread at hand, I find it curious Fuller has been open about his intentions with the program - I am cannot recall a precedent - but, I am not worried, as I trust him. What he has delivered with the show is top-grade and I am hoping the show will last as many seasons as he envisions/requires.

I hope so too it's just odd how much info he's letting get out. I couldn't see any other showrunner letting this much info about a show out

Where are you getting 20 years from? The show takes place in 2013, so if we do a one season = one year, with a one year time jump between seasons three and four, five years makes sense. It's not that confusing of a concept.

Never said it was confusing, it's just ludicrous. Ok, simple math here, 5 years before RD that's where we are now (even though we saw Dollarhyde's first kill) so ok how many years between now and when Lecter is caught? Then, it's 8 years of incarceration until TSOTL and then post-escape it's what? Another 10 years until the events of Hannibal. Ok, I was wrong, more like 22-23 years. And I don't care when the show takes place, this is the amount of time "in-universe" for all this stuff to go down as it should with the proper character ages and time passing it'll be quite difficult to pull

Yeah, I agree. Having a plan is great but being inflexible is a bad sign.

I also really don't want to be spoiled any more about what will happen in the future.

You ever think that they plan to change up the time frame, so it's not 20+ years?
