Dragon Age 2 Incoming. - Part 1

soo......do you think they will release an "Ultimate Edition" of DA2 down the road?

Legacy page has been updated, basicly it confirms the Dwarven Carta (as seen on the trailer) are hired to assinate Hawke and it shows us concept art of the Hurlocks which is really cool as you can see the beards.

Felicia Day on Dragon Age: Redemption

- Felicia Day wrote this.
- Actor Doug Jones plays as an Sareebas, a Qunari Mage. Alot of make up and so forth.
- Felicia did her homework and wanted to make a well fleshed out Qunari, not a one dimensional character or a mere antagonist who saw others as heretics.
- Lots of magic, blood magic!
- They did their best to make the moves and spells look the same as in the game.
- Alot of action promised.
- No release date, but it's this year.

Dragon Age: Dawn of the Seeker announced finally:

Behind the scenes teaser

One of the story boards has the text "Cass' brother" so i guess the protagonist truly is Cassandra.

She has hair?

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo! Come back, bull-dyke haircut!

* Nevermind, just Googled DotS, and found out it was the anime. i thought it was DA3. I feel Stupid*

so Cassandra gets her own anime??

but, oh no, she's dual wielding two swords!! She HAS to be a rogue!!

I really hated the weapon style-class restriction imposed in DA2.

I sincerely hope that goes away in DA3.

It worked. All it really prevented was DW Warriors, which weren't all that effective in DAO anyway.

still......I feel the less restrictions the better.......

I wonder when we will hear about DA3...........

Why do you feel the less restrictions the better?

because I would like to create MY characters the way I want to.

If I want to create a warrior who DWs two swords, I should have the option to do that.

If I want to create a spellsword/battle type mage who wields a sword and casts magic, I should be able to do that.

especially when those mechanics were available in the prior game. or, when they seem contradicted by other media, like that Cassandra anime. Using the mechanics of DA2, Cassandra would HAVE to be a Rogue, because only Rogues can DW. Is Cassandra a rogue? we don't know, but if she's a warrior, then she shouldn't be able to DW, according to DA2.

and, if such restrictions are not present in other media like the anime, that's going to make us fans question why we, as players, are restricted by those mechanics in the game.

I look at upcoming RPG games like Skyrim. From what I've read and seen about those games, it seems you have a great deal of freedom in determining how YOUR character evolves. There's not "set class." If you want to wield a sword in one hand and cast magic in the other, you can do that in Skyrim.

Now, I know that Skyrim is made by a different studio, and Bioware does things differently with their games.

but, I just hope with DA3, Bioware listens to the complaints about DA2.

I understand how you feel, i love the idea of a dual wielding warrior, but ultimately i digged the way all warrior attacks we're "aoe" and you could tank with a 2-hander like a pro, so yeah ultimately i do think they did more good than bad, and now arguebly you could use the lore againts the Mage thing because it was the ancient elven battle mages who knew this style, this is lost elven history you can unlock in the Worgen base, but you don't learn this stuff in Kirkwall nor from the Dalish because presumebly they didn't know about it.

Both Loghain and Duncan develope from Rogues to Warriros more or less in the books, Duncan was a mere thief, but in DAO he has good battle armor and whatnot. Loghain like other Fereldens was nothing more than a poacher who was trying to survive, but he became the King's General who wielded a sword and a shield, so i don't think the anime should limit Cassandra's weapon choice, but they should keep the style alive.

This game isn't Skyrim. Skyrim isn't even a RPG, but an Action-Adventure Sandbox with RPG elements. But oh, I'm getting technical with detail again. People tend to hate that.

You can make YOUR character. You just have to make YOUR character within the confines of the game world. BioWare's want for their game world is obviously different from Bethesda's want for their game world is different from the world of Dungeons & Dragons is different from the world of Shining Force. In Shining Force my hero had to always use a big sword and only centaurs could be knights. Why couldn't my guy ride on one of the centaurs and be a double-knight with lance and sword? Shining Force sucks! :whatever:

In Mass Effect 2, the only way I can get Assault Rifle training for my non-Soldier is to play through half the game and suddenly have access to the training. This sucks! My Engineer should be able to use ARs right off the bat because that's how I want to play it!

Sounds stupid, right? (Don't worry, that was rhetorical. The answer is yes.)

It's a conscious design, I hope you understand. It's how they want their game to work. They didn't like how there was no real differences between Rogue and Warrior in the first game. The change addresses this.

Warriors used Archery in DAO, so that answers for Loghain. Poaches needn't be Rogues, for starters, and he was young enough at the time that it doesn't necessarily even have to be a matter of class. Now, if Rowan or Maric had showed up in the game as Mages, I'd be right there complaining.

Duncan was a thief, and he was still obviously a Rogue come the events of Origins. The armor isn't thick knight's plate, or even a typical suit of chainmail. It has robe-like qualities to its appearance, indicating something lightweight and with freedom, with something like a breastplate and, I think, mail sleeves. But it's been a long time since I've played Origins, and I can't picture him quite as vividly as I'd like to.

So was mine. But not to the degree of DW Rogues or two-handed Warriors, just like Archery Warriors weren't anything to write home about in comparison to Archery Rogues.

So far, Legacy = pretty neat and good.

Too bad I'll have to wait until tonight to finish it.

Just finished Legacy. Much better.

Some solid level and game design and a plot with a clear sense of direction and momentum pretty much elevate it over the entirety of DA2, it starts off a bit slow but picks up steam as it trucks along. Also as I have never rolled a Warrior in DA2 having Carver and his Templar abilities made fighting enemy mages much easier. Its not totally perfect [blackout] the final choice is a bit too close to the end of Awakening for my tastes though they manage to put a nice spin on it with the Warden's involvement [/blackout] but definitely a step in the right direction.

The Genlock Alpha was a lot of fun to fight and they create some tough scenarios with good enemy unit composition and I liked the idea of enchanting a weapon, might be something to try in the future with an entire game.

are there any pics of the unique weapons that each class of Hawke gets in Legacy?

I wouldn't go so far as to say it's better than the entirety of DA2. They're two completely different things. Legacy does just about everything right, though, for the realm of DLC, and it's superior to the majority of ME2 and DAO DLC.

Played through with a post-game save, so technically after the end of the game even though it's treated as happening chronologically before the end of the game. Characters in the DLC in this case treat Hawke as Champion, and I took Carver along as a Grey Warden. I'm not sure how that works, since there's no access to him until the finale of Act 3, unless doing the DLC during Act 2 or 3 does allow you access to the sibling. I'll find this out eventually.

I took Carver, Varric, and Anders. Anders was this Hawke's love interest, so he has lines that stem from that, and also has lines that stem from his being a Warden. Carver had Warden lines as well, and Varric gets a ton of talk-time because, well, he's Varric. I'm assuming these three characters have the most lines of dialogue, or Bethany if she's around and Carver isn't. Not sure if the siblings talk less if they're Templar/Circle Mage instead of Grey Warden, and not sure how much other characters talk.
