Dragon Age 2 Incoming. - Part 1

No, Rivalry makes sense. If you go with his Friendship path, you're agreeing with him all the way - so that would be a betrayal. Assuming Rivalry, you've been telling him he's wrong, so this is his seeing the light.

I had been playing through the game with Fenris, Aveline, and Varric with my melee rogue, but apparently I bugged the Fenris romance by having a one-time fling with Isabela, so I scrapped that game.

Isabela isn't anymore a defensive character than a rogue Hawke, to be honest. Hawke actually winds up with a few more offensive moves via specializations, but won't ever have the group-backstab that Isabela has. Pretty simple, max Isabela's Swashbuckler tree and she can probably evade-tank anything that doesn't auto-hit and take out entire groups of enemies with the group-backstab ability.

Isabela was my Blood Mage's MVP and then some, easily.

I may go anti-mage (besides Bethany) with my Warrior Hawke. I won't HATE them but I'll agree with some needing to be made Tranquil, ect.

Ok, so I logged back into my Mage Hawke and I notice I have new "premium content" at my estate. One is called "Evra's Might" and the other "Evra's Trophy Belt."

Is there a reason I am just now seeing these? Were they always there?

You earned them in the Facebook game but they didn't allow those receivable until March 25th.

Oh... interesting. Well... I can't seem to access the "special delivery" cases... Odd.

I was reading through some Bioware forum posts and I was reminded that Anders probably had one of the most brutal lines to Merril

When Merril is on her quest to fix the mirror and you have to kill the Dalish Keeper because of the demon inside of her, Anders turns to Merril and says "That is the noblest thing I have ever seen anyone do. The world is poorer with her out of it... and you still in it."

I didn't even like Merril and I was like Daaaaamn Anders!

He's got that kind of creepy moment with her in party banter where he goes on and on about becoming an abomination... and then makes sure to point out that he's doing it to scare her.

One that I found chuckle worthy was after I killed the first Vatarrel with Merrill, Fenris and Isabela...

Merrill: He looked at me like I was a monster!
Fenris: That's because you ARE a monster
Isabela: Not helping
Fenris: Good

So, I tried to just rent this game, and man was that a mistake. I was determined to play it to the end (as male warrior Hawke), and needless to say, I racked up some late fees.

Ha.

I beat the High Dragon once again last night with my Archer Rogue. A bit harder than when I beat it with my Mage.

I started a new mage. I was going to restart the rogue I had to delete, but I didn't want to play the same character. So Mage, but I switched from going for the Fenris romance to the Anders romance. Instead of a no-Mage party, I now have a two-Mage party, plus Varric and currently Carver.

Everything dies so gloriously.

how does the PS3 version of this game hold up, graphic wise and framerate wise, to the 360 version?

I remember that the PS3 version of DAO had some framerate issues........

does the fact that the PS3 version only goes up to 720p (while the 360 version says it supports up to 1080p ) make any difference when playing on a 1080p HDtv?

thanks.

I had an all mage party with Aveline tanking until Merril and Anders started getting on my nerves. :o If it wasn't for the fact that I was a mage, I would've sided with the Templars because of them.

I was curious though, do you lose Merril if you

let her finish fixing the mirror?

The 360 version supports 1080p? Really?

I haven't noticed any framerate issues on the PS3... at all really.

Argh! I don't know how people are finding it difficult to romance Merril because she loves my Hawke again this time around. I wasn't being mean to her but I was trying to romance Isabelle this time around because I wanted to side with the Templars in this play through..

That and I figured it would be better for my main Hawke (a Mage, romanced Merril) to be living in the forests and on the run anyway...

Copy and pasting bushes is a far cry from using the same dungeons over and over :)

I'm sorry, I must have missed your post. I haven't played Dragon Age 2 to an extent so I can't really argue on that, I was mainly taking about enviromental textures which I presumed you were talking about. Are you saying the actual dungeons themself in structure are the exact same? If so, fair enough.

It's interesting Bioware seems to be getting quite abit of flack for copy pasting enviroments, while Crysis 2 is getting praised, when it has outright copy pasted textures from the prevous game at about half the resolution.

I was a total dick to Merril and yet I wound up accidentally sleeping with her. Isabella has been harder so far, they really haven't given me to many options to charm her.

So it's 100% a game bug? Not intended.

well, I was just going by what the boxes say on the back. The 360 version says it supports resolutions up to 1080p on the back. The PS3 version, I believe, says it supports resolutions up to 720p.

Seems up in the air. I don't think any writers or devs have weighed in on it. I know one writer stated that if you pursue the Merrill or Anders romances - ie. the "real" romances a la Leliana and Alistair in DAO - they were supercede and end the Isabela and Fenris romances. But I haven't seen anything that suggests sleeping with Isabela - who's an easy lay like Morrigan or Zevran, let's be honest - should kill any romances.

I didn't think you needed to sleep with Isabela to keep her around.

It certainly helps, and i just keep getting rivalry points if i drag her along and i'm not really interested in having her in the party, really thats what usually crings my gear in DAO/DA2. I'm "forced" to keep party members such as Anders because i can't spec Merrill as a healer, luckily both games have given 2 tank options, 1 for DAO if you didn't get the Shale DLC.
