Dragon Age 2 Incoming. - Part 1

Would anyone else be a bit disappointed if they didn't follow up on the mage/Chantry war in the next game? I mean, they created a hell of an opening for it in DA 2: magical terrorism, a major hero siding with one side or the other, three major figures (Meredith, Orsino, and the Grand Cleric) dying. I'd be pretty disappointed if they just had it be settled off-screen by some treaty between DA 2 and DA 3. I want to get a new hero with a new perspective who's now stuck living in this world where religion and magic are waging a world war against each other.

I would actually like to see it continued in any and all DLC... maybe even a full expansion pack on it.

Well...
It's going to be tough on them to include everything they've been foreshadowing... I mean, we've got the Mage/Chantry war getting ready to kick off (with the Templars mixed in too, since they've apparently rebelled?), there's admitted trouble between Ferelden and Orlais... oh, and Flemeth is up to something. And if we're going back to looming plotlines, there's also whatever the hell Morrigan's up to.

It'll be intriguing to see which direction they decide to go with a third installment (which would almost certainly be the last possible DA on this generation of consoles).

There's a lot of story left to tell. And that's not even considering the storylines concerning the inevitable new characters and a few seemingly integral returning ones.

Plus, we've obviously got something big brewing behind the scenes, since Hawke (and the Warden, if your Warden survived the Archdemon) have gone off the grid simultaneously ("No coincidence").

Suffice to say, I'm very excited about the series' future. While I think the Mass Effect series has a few legs up on DA (in part due to the simple amount of resources and man hours poured into it)... I really just care about Thedas and its characters far more than I do about Shepard and his crew.

That's actually not a bad idea, being that planning a DA3 would be a lot easier if they got at least a few plotlines out of the way going into it.

That said...
I feel like any DLC is more likely to be about Hawke. Such as him fleeing Kirkwall, possibly a few of the "circumstances" that led his crew to break up... and probably something surrounding his own disappearance (like Witch Hunt did for DA:O)

I haven't finished the game yet, but quite honestly this is miles above Dragon Age: Origins and I really liked that game. I had my doubts about the changes, but once I got my hands on the demo I fell in love with the game and rushed out to buy it.

Also, I don't think there's a character I can complain about. Which is unique for a Bioware game, usually there's one character I avoid like the plague. I genuinely like all of the characters that are presented here. Except for Isabella, that ****e.
I just got through the part where she runs off with the Qunari artifact and screws me over.
She was alright before that though. :o
Honestly, I was a little worried about how the new feel would be... and it did take a bit of gamplay before I'd adjusted. I'd play the game for a while and then leave it be... wasn't until the end of the first act that the new combat system and setting had grown on me... after that, was hooked and played the game on a regular basis until completion.

Just takes time. The story wasn't as immediately engaging as DA:O's was, either, so it took awhile for it to reel me in.

I really want to take down a full blown blight.

How awesome would it be to have a blight break out amidst the mage/chantry war.

it would be so. awesome. :(

Well the Wardens that cameoed in DA2 WERE up to something of super importance...

Wasn't ending a blight kind of the whole point of the first game?

I remember Laidlaw saying something to the effect of that he and Gaider had joked about the Blight 2 being led by 3 Archdemon's taped together.

Well, yeah, we've been there done that. But the DA world is pretty large and has a ton going on. It's safe to say that Darkspawn will be a part of every title in some way, shape or form. Whether it's a Blight or something else entirely... they'll be back.

Question: Is there any lore for Dwarves in Tevinter Imperium?

Hmm assumption time: Dwarves would be like the Qunari there, in essence that they're feared and respected. Magisters hire them to kill other mages but they also ensure these slightly-immune to magic Dwarves could kill them aswell, so yeah i can imagen a big Carta business there alongside enchanters making weapons like the Blades of Mercy and other stuff, but i'd imagen everyone in Tevinter being a giant *****é or a weakling slave.

I actually felt abit akward when Anders hitted on me and i got my eyes on Fenris, then i read Gaider felt they needed to have atleast 1 character hitting on the player instead of Hawke doing the first move, pretty cool.

This is going to be weird to say, but....I actually felt pretty compelled to have my mage have a gay relationship with Fenris. I accidentally wound up sleeping with Merril and I told her it was a one time thing haha. I felt like a gay pimp.

I'm pretty sure I've seen Fenris drop some pick up lines, too.

Isabela just goes with the innuendo, and Merrill's... Merrill. Overall I thought it was a relatively realistic balance.

Just some fodder for thought...

Did anyone else have a conversation with Sandal where he rambles on about a "white haired woman" (who fits Flemeth's description) that occasionally comes to see him at night? Creepy.

There there's this mini side conversation...

I don't know if they'll ever build the series up to be anything of that level, but boy could that be an epic plot...

Also love how crystal clear Sandal is until Bodahn basically slaps him down... "Enchantment!"... "That's more like it!"

Fenris' pick up line was more of a compliment that you got response with either taking it as a bromance or romance, thats how i viewerd it as atleast.

Fenris is an interesting cat... By the end of my playthrough there was party banter suggesting he'd been hooking up with Isabela (I went with Merrill).
