Well, I've decided that speeding up the combat didn't fix a damn thing. It's still just as terrible and not at all fun.

I think the combat is fine... I also thought the combat was fine in DAO... I don't get the complaints on the combat, at all.. in EITHER games.

Deep Roads spoiler.. kind of...

STUPID FREAKING DRAGON! I had the ass down to a sliver of health and he knocks out my entire party, magically with two hits. Really? REALLY?!

Also, that stupid roll over add at the top of the page needs to go! :cmad:

uUguhh I can't wait until they patch in auto-attack, I'm sick of pressing A.

Are they going to do that?

I dunno, as a Mage I just set stuff on fire and watch it burn. :)

It was supposed to be in the game but they said it got taken out last minute or something on the assembly line lol, ridonkulous.

Bein a warrior hurts my thumbs. :(

Here are my complaints.

Getting one-shotted will never be fun.

Getting killed because you're "stunned" and can't fight back or even defend yourself will never be fun.

Losing battles because your party members aren't following their orders, tactics, or are
generally not doing what they're supposed to be doing will never be fun.

Being forced to win battles by spamming potions, flasks, or otherwise gaming the system will never be fun.

No matter how fast or how flashy they make the gameplay, none of that is indicative of good game design.

Try playing on casual, I've had none of those problems in 10 hours.

I'm playing on Hard and so far it hasn't been that difficult. I killed both dragons on my first try, Mages still seem pretty powerful - they have a tendency to just drop half my party when they fire off their stronger spells. I'm more scared of Mages than anything else thus far.

Things like buffs/debuffs, making sure your Tanks are keeping enemies busy are absolutely critical to surviving these battles on the higher difficulties and in some cases kiting can be a life saver against things like Dragons and Ogres.

Um... play it on casual??

I've only had one super dooper one shot and it was from a dragon.. I assume his "super strike" or whatever as I had him nearly defeated.

I also don't order around my party. They seem smart enough to do their own thing... always.

Mages and a crapload of Archers with scatter shot, the only 2 things that pissed me off in DAO.

My party normally consists of..

My Hawke - Mage

Fenris - doing the warrior thing.

Varric - Range/Rogue

Isabela - She's obviously a rogue but she fights like a warrior.

Never have problems with any of them.

Oh yeah, in some of the larger battles it's even worse than an old school button masher on your thumb. Killing me...

I haven't decided who among the main cast I favor yet... some of them I like just as much, if not more, than the better Origins characters. Others fall flat.

Well... in regards to Carver..

The wimp ran off and joined the Templar's because I thought it best that he stay home and take care of "mother." Have fun Carver, please don't come back to my party.

Thanks, but I know all about tactics. I've already customized everyone the way I want, but they still don't follow them a lot of the time. I guess my party members are just jerks. :funny:

Anyone know where this Map of Occupied Kirkwall goes? I picked it up on a mission but I don't know who it's supposed to go to. It doesn't have a quest marker over any of the areas on the travel maps...

Never mind. Area hadn't opened up yet. :o

Meh. There's really no need to defend the game. It stands on its own and it's enjoyable to a whole lot of people. Those who've had negative reactions certainly aren't going to be swayed by one of the devs' words on it.

Ugh. I hate Carver.

I like Carver as a foil for Hawke. Its refreshing to be able to get into bitter arguments where you don't have to play nice with your party members. But yeah, he's certainly a prick.

hahhaa I just got done with the deep roads, and Sandal has just cemented himself as my favourite dragon age character. :o

Reading that interview... what dope rated it a 6/10?
