Animation Dragonball HQ - Part 1

Ah, so the plot goes:

First 25 minutes: Saiyan history
Second 20 minutes: pre-fight set up.
Last Hour: the full fight.

The fights and the colors are absolutely insane. Nagamine's directing is nuts but Karasawa Kazuya and Mitsuka Masato's storyboarding is also really strong.

Kinda late to the party here but is Dragon Ball Super done?

For now. No idea when the anime will return, but there is already talk about the next arc in the manga.

Space adventure focused on Buu

Dragon Ball Super as an animated series ended in March 2018 with Episode #131. In December 2018 a movie sequel was released, directed by Nagamine Tatsuya (Series Director of Episodes #77-131 alongside Nakamura Ryouta) with new character designs by Shintani Naohiro (Yamamuro Tadayoshi was the character designer of the TV series and had held the role for all movies since 1993). This weekend is the annual JUMP Festa convention. Dragon Ball will have a panel there. In all likelihood they're going to announce the return of Dragon Ball Super. It's been massively popular and with production on the movie having ended in late September, well ahead of release and Nakamura Ryouta having been missing in action since storyboarding and directing One Piece Episode #850 in August we're likely looking at Dragon Ball Super or a new series in general returning in April 2019 after Gegege no Kitarou completes it's fourth quarter.

I've seen the movie, by the way. The battles with Broli are a combine thirty-five minutes of nearly non-stop action and top-notch animation. Nagamine and Shintani got so many incredibly good animators to do lengthy segments in the film and it really blew my mind. I honestly didn't think it would be possible to top Boruto Episode #65 as 2018's best fight but holy **** did this do the trick. I do wish Nagamine wouldn't rely on CG like he does but the directing for those scenes were at least really good, too.

The Dragon Ball Waifu chart has grown exponentially in the last few years.

No longer are we just limited too Chi Chi, Bulma, 18 and Videl

I'm glad that we have some women again that actually fight and don't just get turned into baby factories. At least 18 still occasionally threw a punch in Z and didn't really lose too much of her badass factor, and she got some great moments in Super. But Chi-Chi and Videl didn't do much anymore once they got knocked up.

But all the new female fighters are actually from other Universes, so I wonder what the chances are of ever seeing them again.

We'll see the U6 saiyan girls again im sure. I'd like to see Ribrianne and Co because they're hilarious. Also Cocotte from the PT could appear too down the line

Chapter 43 of the Manga is out ....and holy **** i actually enjoyed it

Also dragon ball heroes episode 6 is out. With it being elsworlds story it's still fun. Just wish they'd show a bit more too it

Oh, right. I forgot there was going to be an epilogue. Like in the series, Trunks laying waste to 17 and 18 is, for me, probably the most cathartic moment, or at least one of my favorites. Especially considering how much better he'd become. But I did like Trunks using Vegeta's "B**** I'm adorable" line, too.

Anyway, a nice Christmas surprise from TeamFourStar.

I appreciate the call back to Perfect Cell's death, appropriately abridged.

I do hope that they don't take their frustrations with Super out on the Buu saga.

having watched their recent Top 12 fight for this year's DBcember...I feel that that in many ways TFS (Kaiser and Lani) have come to terms with Super, and while critical of things they don't hate it

Is anybody still playing Xenoverse 2? I recently bought the latest DLC and jumped back into the game. It's just fun to finally be able to have all my OCs on the stage and to take on Jiren, Kefla and Goku, while listening to Ultimate Battle. :D

And I love that I am able to perform Dual-Ultimates with my OCs. It's amazing to see how far the game has come.

Just got my review screener of Broly. Excited to dive in.

I won't post a link so that nobody gets in trouble but a certain old school animator (he was the animation supervisor of Dragon Ball Z Episode #64) accidentally let slip that he was working on the next Dragon Ball. He hasn't worked on the franchise since Movie #11 (the first Broli movie). Satou Masaki has been posting a lost of Dragon Ball fan art on Twitter for the past year so it's exciting to see him return to the franchise. He was basically Maeda Minoru's right hand man during Maeda's 1986-1993 run as the animation character designer. A few weeks ago Satou mentioned that he was working with Shintani Naohiro on something so we all thought that maybe he was working on Movie #20 but it looks like it'll be the next series after all. This is super exciting considering Satou was a part of the Maeda era which Shintani has taken so much inspiration. If Satou becomes a regular animation supervisor it'll be very interesting to see. Satou only supervised the aforementioned episode and acted as an assistant animation supervisor for Movie #7 (Slug) but after Episode #164 and Movie #11 Satou went on to be the animation character designer of Slam Dunk. Still, very exciting news.

With GeGeGe no Kitarou scheduled to run through at least July I imagine Dragon Ball Super will either return in April (with GeGeGe no Kitarou moving to 8:30AM) or it will premier in October. I'd prefer October for the sake of the production schedule but April is probably the better bet since Series Director Nakamura Ryouta went MIA in August. GeGeGe no Kitarou was announced in January and debuted in April (with Series Director Ogawa Kouji being asked to be the series director in September 2017 during the Digimon Universe: Applimon wrap party) so it's not impossible!! I'm very excited that Toei Animation has finally gotten their scheduling straightened out a little.

Have my ticket for opening day. I work so I can't go to the morning showings, hoping to see it twice before it leaves theaters.

When is the English Dub of the Tournament of Power Saga hitting instant video? Amazon Prime has up to Season 6.

Not gonna be for a long while as the dub is only at episode 91.
With how things are going the next part of Super will probably start airing before the dub of the first part ends.

I gotta say, while I've enjoyed the new characters introduced in Super thus far, I've been disappointed by how short these arcs are. Who is the next big bad in the manga?

The Universe Survival arc , Or the tournament of power is actually as long as some of the old arcs with like 50+ episodes lol.
The current big bad in the manga is an ancient warlock named Moro that feeds on life energy.
