Totally with you on this. I can only watch Dragon Ball in English dub form, and Goku's voice is the main reason. My 12 year old self, which has seen every last bit of Dragon Ball every released, won't allow for anything else.

Agreed 9000%, and I think his quality has only improved as the years have gone by.

I 100% agree again. I am also a big fan of other things, like "World's Strongest". My favorite of the films.

I am not a fan of GT, but I would like Pan to come into canon.

but pan is in canon her debut was not in GT she was in the final episode of Z

Based n the last few movies I don't think this would be the best idea to follow up on this.

One of the biggest faults of the series was the complete focus on GOKU and lack of else.

It'll be the same except we are all older and will turn off. The anime world has gotten much better since Dragonball came off the air. I don't think nostalgia alone will help it survive if it doesn't adapt.

Haven't seen you for a bit Novemeber Rain. I also agree that the stories need to be strong and that the supporting cast should get more focus and not solely Goku.

While I kinda agree on it needed to have a stronger supporting cast and not just be the Goku show, a lot of the most simplistic anime seem to get popular, High School of the Dead anyone?

That show was pretty much boobs and explosions and look how popular it got.

Don't get me started on Bleach which uses the exact same formula of Dragonball Z where they saga somewhat repeat the same formula and Ichigo became stronger than everyone else and I actually likethe show a lot.

I'd like to see the humans be useful. That basically stopped after the Saiyan saga.

I do agree with this, but to be fair, Dragonball has been, since the beginning, Goku's story. He's always been the focal point where side characters sort of come and go in relevancy. Even in Dragonball, characters from early chapters that were important and focal, such as Bulma or Pilaf, became a lot less relevant as that series progressed. It's sort of the staple of the series in a way, so I wouldn't expect it to change with Super.

Lol, the humans weren't useful in the Saiyan saga. They were scrub tier nothings even then.

A new Dragon Ball series? A blue Super Saiyan form? The original creator? After that last badass film?

You play a blue deck with the card game or something?

Sometimes, I wish I lived in a parallel universe where Dragon Ball ended with Gohan defeating Cell. As I've gotten older and rewatched the series, it just made more sense from a narrative standpoint. Overall, from Vol #1, it is Goku's story. But it was always intended to be a passing of the torch. Gohan's strength was foreshadowed since Raditz's arrival to be the strongest because he was an anomaly.

I didn't hate the stuff that came after the Cell Saga (honestly, I think the Other World Tournament is probably the best filler that the series had), but I would've been okay with the Cell Saga being a stopping point.

I agree. I never enjoyed the Buu stuff like I did the rest of the series. It all just sort of felt tacked on to me.

Gohan defeating Cell and the passing of the torch would have been a great ending/stopping point.

I liked the idea of the evil Shenrons from the last GT arc. There needed to be some kind of balance to keep the magic of the dragon balls in check.

Given how Cell's creation reaches back to Dragon Ball, and touches on various villains in prior Dragon Ball Z sagas, he felt like the perfect conclusion to DBZ. I loved the first part of the saga when the Z Fighters couldn't figure out who or what was going around turning thriving cities into ghost towns. Eerie, wonderfully eerie.

I think Teamfourstar did a great way of actually making him creepy and intimidating that the show lacked.

The only thing I didn't like about that is how Dr. Gero was made up for Z. I guess Dr. Flappe wouldn't have made sense there, since he wasn't really a bad guy I guess, but I don't know, that always kind of irritated me. It's like, "I was there for the Red Ribbon Army arc, this ****er wasn't there." Super minor nitpick, I know.

Funny, I thought Gero was back in the DB RR arc. Maybe that was something they added for the dub or I'm misremembering. I haven't watched DB since...whenever it was last airing on Toonami's afternoon block.

I kinda wish Cell had just kept his first form, honestly.

Gero was supposed to be the 'secret mastermind' but collaborated with others. We just happened to never hear, see or even have any hints of his existence until they were all dead for 20+ years.

Although Gero did make the Cyborgs with basically stuff he made in a cave, imagine what he could make with access to Capsule Corps inventory.

Nah, he wasn't. The inventor of the androids (or at least Android 8 and one presumes the models before that) was said to be Dr. Flappe, but he was like a Red Ribbon detractor if my memory serves me. Dr. Gero was purely a Z creation as far as I know, unless maybe he was just mentioned or something in a brief passing in DB.

I am glad that the Cell ark was not the last one because then I would have never gotten to see Vegeta's sacrifice which was an epic moment (even though it was his fault that Buu was there in the first place :funny:).

I didn't hate the Buu saga per say, but it really was like a saga that highlighted the problems with Z x 100. The overly long drawn out nature of the show, the borderline silly "still got one more form, scrubs" plot point that artificially prolonged everything, and the predictable nature of how every battle goes shown multiple times.

I do like Vegetto though. Some of the stuff they introduced in the Buu saga was interesting.

Yeah, it made sense from a narrative standpoint, but I never cared. Too much of a Goku fanboy. :woot:

The Buu saga definitely has its problems. As you said, it is a microcosom of the problems of Z as whole. But it was worth it for me just for Goku vs. Vegeta, Vegetto, Gotenks, Trunks and Goten.

Lets not forget...
