^AGREE 100 % cheadle is not rhodes at all he is a better actor but howard was perfectly cast as rhodes

i think howard came across more likeable and had far better chemistry with rdj than cheadle has

 Howard just seemed more natural in the role, and blended with RDJ better. People say Howard had better writing, half the time they didnt have a script on IM1, and Howard still came accross better, that to me shows he was a perfect fit.

Anyway, back to GOTG, I hope Momoa is confirmed soon, then we can move onto Gamora next and any more characters cast after that will be a bonus. Cant wait to see if there will be any surprise characters involved.

Didn't Gunn already confirm Cosmo?

No, he tweeted a picture of a dog space suit and mentioned Cosmo as a joke and interneters with no sense of humor began claiming he confirmed Cosmo

I must've missed this tweet. Been seeing people on ontd getting their panties in a bunch over the talking racoon and space dog getting a movie before black panther and ms. marvel and was kinda confused.

The talking Raccoon is a better character than Ms. Marvel.

As for Black Panther, I just don't think Marvel liked the script they had for him or Doctor Strange.

They wanted a movie that introduced Thanos. Everything else could/can wait

It just happens to also have an amazing talking raccoon character :awesome:

Well...I think there's some veracity to my claim that the scripts to Doctor Strange and BP weren't all that. Early reports indicated that the Guardians script was fantastic. On the flipside, the Doctor Strange script was penned by the Conan guys...it's probably unsalvageable.

I gotta say, one of my least favorite complaints I see online is that "X movie is bulls**t because Y should've gotten a movie first!" I understand people want to see their favorite characters on the screen, but if there's a good story to be told, do whatcha gotta do. Call me crazy, but if someone has an amazing Squirrel Girl movie in the works, yet no immediate plans for Spider-Man, Spidey can wait a year.

Then they go on about how some of the most fiscally & creatively successful studio heads need to "get their priorities in order," as if they know better, lol

The amount of ******** "WAAHHH my character didn't get a movie!" comments stemming from GoTG getting green lit has been mind-blowing.

It would be a lot like

"WTF!!! WB is DOING JONAH HEX BEFORE FLASH!?!?!?!"

To be honest, I am anticipating a GOTG movie more than any other CB movie at the minute. Mainly because I never in a million years thought we would get one, and also because this movie could just open so many possibilities in terms of Marvel Cosmic movies.

I mean, some day we may see Annihilation adapted for the big screen just from GOTG, that would simply be amazing.

That's how I feel. They are like my special secret favorite team, and these characters making it to the big screen seemed like a 1 in a million shot.

I'll be honest, when I heard that GotG was going to be Marvel's next big thing I had mixed feelings. On the one hand, I always loved the team of cosmic misfits and had dreamed of them being in a movie as a kid. On the other hand, the team of cosmic misfits that I loved so much were the original Guardians of the Galaxy, so this is a bittersweet thing for me. The current team is great, don't get me wrong, but the original Guardians were a truly groundbreaking group. It featured the first -- and maybe only -- cosmically transgender character in Starhawk, a psychotically psychic astronaut with Captain America's shield and a bunch of mismatched alien adventurers.

Some of the original Guardians were so much more exotic and interesting than any other heroes around that it was probably ridiculous to think they could ever be mainstreamed. Would Marvel use Starhawk/Aleta when they won't even touch Adam Warlock? Could we expect them to handle mad Vance Astro when Rich Rider/Nova is off the table? They aren't even featuring Mantis, though I guess the green homogeneity of Drax and Gamora is enough for one team.

honestly, the biggest thing for this movie for me is Thanos

You have no idea if Warlock or Nova will be in GoTG. None of us do. For all we know, they could be in the movie as a surprise.

Not gonna lie, I would have rather seen a Black Panther movie. Now that Guardians is coming out though, I'm more excited for it than I was. It just sucks that we won't get to see T'Challa with his own movie and eventually with the Avengers until Phase 3.

I think a big problem Marvel was having with Black Panther and Doctor Strange is keeping them "brand" so to speak. Guardians is already a poster child MCU property. It has the humor built in, and has that sort of fun, snappy tone already in place.

Feige tends to value pushing properties that are unlike anything they've already done. Of the big 4 that were pushed for Phase 2 (GoTG, Black Panther, Doctor Strange, and Ant-Man) Guardians is easily the most unique, and was an opportunity to not have to walk through a bunch of obligatory superhero origins tropes that will no doubt find their way into BP, Doctor Strange and Ant-Man.

According to 'elmayimbe', Marvel is back to screentesting actors for Drax. Momoa's going to ass around and price himself out of a job.
