Because, of course, a few internet reports are completely iron-clad proof that he had the job in the bag to begin with... :o

The Hollywood Reporter said that Momoa never had an offer to begin with, though he did screen test. THR has a lot more credibility than LR, so I'm inclined to believe their reporter was right all along.

I, for one, am shocked. I mean Momoa really had them by the balls, considering there is literally no one else on the planet capable of playing the role of Drax.
:oldrazz:

I guess it's back to searching for actors who are 6'4" or taller on IMDb and scoping out the WWE's roster for Marvel's casting department. :o

We don't want Drax with a lisp, though

You think you don't but how can you be so sure?

Mamoa and his agency are idiots.

I just don't understand what they were trying to do. Mamoa needed a project like 'Guardians'. Not only will he have a steady job for the next decade with the potential sequels, he'll get the chance to be in 'Avengers 2'. That, and this role might lead to other big projects. Look at Chris Hemsworth and co, and their blossoming careers.

Whats Kevin Grevioux up to these days?
Perhaps he should screentest.

If Mayimbe is right, it could be just be brinksmanship at play.

Momoa would've been a very decent Drax, actually. Will be interesting to see how this plays out.

I strongly doubt Marvel is playing a waiting game with Momoa. Again: bald-headed muscular action stars are a dime a dozen. Momoa doesn't offer anything to the role that a thousand other Hollywood muscle-heads can't.

After all, Drax ain't Shakespeare. :oldrazz:

joe manganiello for drax then

That's how I feel. They are like my special secret favorite team, and these characters making it to the big screen seemed like a 1 in a million shot.

Yep, never though we would be seeing GOTG on the big screen, let alone this early in procedings. Again as well it just opens up so many cosmic characters a storylines that would simply be amazing on the big screen.

According to 'elmayimbe', Marvel is back to screentesting actors for Drax. Momoa's going to ass around and price himself out of a job.

Momoa is an idiot is has priced himself out of this, this has franchise potential for years to come, and not only could he have been involved with The Avengers, but possibly things like Annihilation, Infinity Gauntlet and much, much more.

I just hope Guardians takes off and we get a full fledged Annihilation movie one day.

Right before the Momoa news, someone (wish I remembered who) suggested Manu Bennet. If he's available, he's my favorite suggestion so far.

The only actor (to the best of my knowledge) to play hardball with Marvel and get everything he wanted was Chris Evans.

Good luck, Momoa.

I knew Chris Evans was hesitant, but I didn't know they ended up throwing money at him. Although I guess I shouldnt have been so naive
