tell that movieweb they have to be up to date way faster then i have....it was new to me so i thought to share, guess im to slow for you people...

eh. I hope it's not bautisa or whatever the hell his name is

I'm probably going to get my head cut off for this, but I kind of short of maybe wouldn't mind seeing Bautista as Drax. Sure his not that good of an actor but come on guys Momoa isn't some Oscar winning actor himself, and as many have pointed out Drax isn't exactly Shakespeare. Also i would say that Bautista would be more of a box-office draw than Momoa would be. So if Marvel really want him for the role i say bring it because they haven't disappointed us with casting before.

im not a fan of this choice either ...but when they can make chris hemsworth look good as thor in a standalone movie
(i know he is a better actor then bautista but not a super actor as well)
then they can manage bautista being just one of the main characters...
saying a few lines and mostly there will be action scenes with him involved.

Idk about that, he's been in a good amount of films now and he hasn't given an average performance yet

I really, REALLY hope Bautista isnt cast as Drax. Drax may not say much but when he does its meaningful and thoughtful, you need an actor to portray that, not a wrestler.

I dont think you guys are being quite fair.

Let's sit here and think. Let's pretend this is all true. We're living in a world where all the GOTG news that LR has provided is true. Just pretend, for a second.

Momoa asks for too much money and his sleuth agents try to get the fans riled up, making Marvel see his fan backing. They pass.
Coincidentally, at the same time that El Mayimbe announces that these two are in competition, Dave Bautista has returned to social media and has started posting shirtless pictures of himself to show off his body (Sorta, like "I am big. I am tough. Like Drax") and calls in a favor to get his name out there with a Riddick still.

Now, let's pretend that Momoa is, indeed, out of the running. Dave Bautista HAD to impress somehow. How? Why? We don't know, but they wouldn't even CONSIDER him if he did not impress in screentests. Now, I agree with AVEITWITHJAMON, Drax only says meaningful and thoughtful things, but Bautista isn't a simple "wrestler". He has serious aspirations of becoming a good actor. There are a few rare WWE promos that were fantastic by Batista.

I hope you are right, cause I disagrree with about all of this...hope Im wrong

Whomever they get for Drax, they need a guy who's good at humorous quips and despite a brawler, a slight vulnerability that makes his character endearing.

I can't say if Batista is a good actor or not (don't remember seeing him in anything) some wrestlers are decent actors...but they could be looking at it from the point of advertising. From what I hear, anytime a WWE wrestler makes a movie, it gets tons of advertizing at the wrestling shows.

WWE promos and acting in a movie were you have capture a character you are portraying is different though. I seriously dont want to see any wrestler as Drax, The Rock being the one exception cause he has a lot of acting experience, but they wont cast him and we know.

We need an actor to portray Drax, think about the moment were he first meets Moondragon and realises its his daughter who he previously thought was dead? No wrestler could do that scene any justice, only an actor can.

Batista having aspirations of being a good actor doesn't make him a good actor.

This isn't simracingdesign, so I can't "thank users for posts", but If I could, I would this one..

I have aspirations to become an Olympic Sprinter and the (now second) white man to run 100m under 10 seconds. Does that mean I have what it takes to be an olympic sprinter? no! I can't do that, I can compete with some college sprinters, but I can't become an olympic sprinter. I am good among my peers, that doesn't mean i have what it takes to be a pro.

Baustisa may be good among his peers of wrestlres, and even some cheap scifi actors, but there is a high tier of...actors, which he simply isn't on.

I wouldn't mind John Bernthal as Drax and maybe go Sean Bean for Thanos.

Lets stop saying batista cant act BC he is a wrestler, lets be honest if he was a bartender, bus driver, or actor he still couldn’t act. The fact that he is a wrestler has nothing to do with his acting ability.

But who ever marvel cast you can bet it’s bc they can act.

I will say this..i trust the Marvel brass implicitly when it comes to casting. They have really done a terrific job in that regard. Thus If Bautista actually ends up with an offer, i will assume he somehow blew Feige and his cronies away when he auditioned and i won't write him off.

I'm sure you can get Batista for a few select character roles, but IMHO not for Drax.
