DVD/Box Set Discussion

How's the atmosphere on the Heroes board? I love that show.

kinda silly actually. they try to assign codenames and wonder why the characters dont wear costumes.

Just got my Ultimate Superman set in the mail from Amazon, and there is another major blunder, with my set at least. I got TWO Disc 3's!! Instead of Disc 5 (Superman II the Lester Cut), I got a duplicate disc of Disc 3 (the STM special features disc). Anybody else have the same problem?!

For the Portuguese fans like me just wanted to let you know that season 5 was released here in Portugal last week, so you can now buy it for 49.99 euros.

I know a lot of people has screwed up discs for Superman III with no content on them. Apparently there's a number you can call and give them your info. Chuck gave it out on the Kryptonfan podcast this week.

Yeah I knew about the screwed up discs. For those who don't know, Disc One (the 1978 cut of STM) is missing its original audio track and Disc Eight (SIII) is not the deluxe version as advertised (w/ remastered video, bonus features and commentary) but the exact same bare-bones disc that was released in 2000.

The piece de resistance for me, however, was the fact that WHV screwed up again and included duplicate discs in my set. So instead of getting the deluxe edition of Superman II (Disc Five), my set had two copies of Disc Three (the STM bonus features disc).

What a cluster**** Warners has been with the Superman franchise!

I bought a set of SV season 4 DVDs online. Opened it. Watched disk 1. Put disk 1 back; started flipping - the set only had disks 1, 2, and 6! Managed to get an exchange at a local branch of the store they came from rather than sending them back to the seller to have him exchange them, but it was pretty weird. Our best guess is that the machine at the factory ran out of disks 3-5 while it was packing the plastic case - either that, or someone pre-shrinkwrap swiped the middle three disks.

Anyone else have this happen to them?

yeah I'd hate to be the guy in charge of quality control at that packaging facility for those box sets. I have a feeling he's been on Careerbuilder.com a LOT the past few days. :)

Justice commentary track on Season 6 DVD!!!!

WonderCon 07: Smallville Season Six Gets DC Commentary
Writers of the show aren't the only ones participating.
by Richard George

March 2, 2007 - Typically when a TV show is released on DVD, the studios involved will gather the creative talent behind the episode or season for commentary. It's a standard practice and most viewers are used to it by now. Smallville has been no exception to this rule - until now.

While not mentioning anything about the involvement of the show's staff, DC writer Judd Winick revealed during a panel today that he had been called in by Warner Bros for special commentaries on the sixth season of Smallville. Slated to join him are Kevin Smith, Brad Meltzer and Denny O'Neil. All three have been influential DC writers. Smith and Meltzer have done critically-acclaimed runs on Green Arrow, and O'Neil is a legendary DC writer.

The sixth season of the Smallville show features the gathering of a Justice League prototype. Previous seasons have featured young versions of Flash and Green Lantern. Green Arrow was introduced in the current season and the episode called "Justice" assembled all of these characters. Stay tuned to IGN for the latest on Smallville, Superman and DVD releases.

Kevin Smith commentary on Justice? Uh. Muh. Gawd!!! Life is good!
I'm gonna be jonesing to hear this all summer long!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wonder why Warners is making such a big deal about this? *cough*

Where in the article does it say it's for Justice? I know it is more logical that it probably is for Justice, but it can also be for the episode Arrow.

Why would the WB be excited about that

Can you blame Warners for trying to get word of that movie out there in script stage. :o
Not at all. I think it's great.

Well, it doesn't say specifically, but they did discuss the Justice episode for its multi-hero plot. Given the backgrounds of those who will be offering their comments, not to mention the recent news of a Justice League feature film that is currently in the writing stage, I'd say it's a safe bet.

Why would the WB be excited about that
Exactly. Arrow was a great ep, but it wasn't AS great as Justice, IMHO.

Does it say Green Lantern in that article?

No. Should it?

It does:

IGN probably got confused with all the green, and forgot Aquaman lol. :D

LMAO! You know, I read that paragraph like three times and didn't see it. I kept seeing "Green Arrow."

Meh. Green Lantern... Green Arrow... six to one, half a dozen... It's all green...

So, since we're talking about the season 6 DVD, I'll say right now that I think the spine of the case will be yellow this time around. Just watch it happen. :D

^ That would be cool. Lets just hope they use NEW promo photos this time.

You mean Clark in that rather "gay Nightwing collar" style jacket? :woot: :oldrazz:
LOL! The leather jacket shot? Nah. It's not very representative of this season - though I DO like those promos <drool>. I was thinking more like the "Sopranos" style promo they had. Might be interesting to have it wrap around the box this time.

All depends on how many heads they want on the cover though, and who they want to emphasize.

Watch a fan war erupt if they use one of the GA pics with Lois. (See bottom left.)

I think I'd pee my pants.

Remember the fallout after the S4 DVD cover was announced? :D

There was fuss over the S4 DVD covers? I must've missed it.

Oh I forgot about those Daily Planet promos, they're great and would be a good choice, especially the one with him Lois and Ollie. :)

You can't really blame them for not using those new promo shots for the Season 5 DVD Box Set, the few they had didn't represent the characters at all, nor the season:

I mean, Brainiac in pink? You didn't want that on the cover did you? :p

It would have been hilarious seeing Clark in the ring with the Green Arrow suit on in Combat :woot: But they give him the Leather Jacket

actually as a comics fan I'm much more excited to hear what Meltzer and O'Neill have to say, loved Meltzer's work on GA though Smith's was good too, and O'Neill is just a GOD.
I think that may be commentary for Arrow not Justice, or maybe Smith and Meltzer will do Arrow and O'Neill will do Justice?

Let's hope Smith isn't censored...
