E3 2011: Microsoft Edition

That list sounds really horrible.

Nothing would make it better tho. Outside of Uncharted 3 and Gears 3, the only games worth playing are all Multi Platform. Elder Scrolls, Arkham City, Mass Effect 3, Assassins Creed, Battlefield. None of those are exclusives.

As for the list itself, thats not really that bad considering you knew they were going Kinect heavy. Dance Central is easily the best motion controlled dancing/party game on any console. Forza is the superior racing sim on consoles. Tons of people have been waiting on a motion controlled Star Wars game.

Did any of you really not expect them to focus on Kinect? Its the fastest selling consumer electronics device in history, of course they are going to beat the hell out of that drum. Sony would of done the same thing had the Move not of tanked comparatively.

People get waaaayyyyy too caught up with the individual press conferences. I cant remember an E3 where one company got me more excited than the others. Listening to Sony/Nintendo and Microsoft all d**k measure just becomes really irritating. I just want to see the games that im going to be playing come winter, which more often than not, are all multiplat titles.

Lame that the Halo remake is for Kinect. Disappointing

I just read through the article and seems they threw Halo 1 in the article as a "also at E3" type blurb. Not saying it is going to be for Kinect.

At E3 Microsoft is also expected to announce a Halo 1 remake, rumoured to be built using the Halo: Reach engine by TimeShift maker Sabre Interactive and due out November 2011.

Forza World, I think, is the same situation.

Twisted Metal, Resistance 3, the Last Guardian, Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One, and they will be announcing new titles that haven't been confirmed yet as well.

Gran Turismo > Forza. Dance Central will be headed to the PS3 eventually.

There's nothing wrong with focusing on Kinect, but Microsoft should have gone the route that Sony is with the PlayStation Move, and give some stuff for both Kinect and regular games. Games like SOCOM 4, Resident Evil 5, No More Heroes: Heroes' Paradise, and Killzone 3 give you the option to use traditional controls or motion controls. I love motion control games, but Microsoft is really cutting out the core gamer here.

Kinect would be so much cooler if they actually put some good games out for it. Because even though the Kinect sells really well, if games that are not Dance Central don't sell well, publishers are just going to give up on it just like they did with the Wii.

Outside of maybe the Last Guardian, those titles are just as bland as the ones MS will be talking about and not NEARLY as exciting as the multiplatform lineup both companies have.

No, not even close. GT doesnt come close to the detail that is found in Forza. When GT can get accurate Ai reaction and tire deformation right, let me know(it would also explain why the Meta score for Forza is almost a full 10 points higher than GT). Dance Central would never be as good on PS3 as it is on Kinect. Dancing while holding a remote is stupid. Period. And no, the PSeye is not accurate enough to give u the level of feedback found in the Kinect, if it was, they wouldnt of made u use the controller in the recent Michael Jackson: The Experience.

But isnt that what they are doing? Arent they talking about having a bunch of "core" games.

You bring up what PS3 did with Move, but i dont see how they could possibly integrate Kinect with those titles you mentioned. I think thats one of the pitfalls of the device. I dont see how it can be used to improve those types of games, typically played with a pad. Head tracking is a far as i can see the device going when it comes to standard titles. I mean really, i dont see any other use for it outside of that with titles made primarily for game pads.

I don't want to THINK about Dance Central on the PS3 with "Move Support."

Seriously, Zumba on the PS3 sucks balls... all you have to do is shake the stupid thing and they yell "good job! GREAT! PEEERFECT!" My wife says it's like a work out DVD that she's shaking a flash light at.

Zumba on Kinect however tracks you... I don't see how DC would ever translate well on the Move.

Forza is also about a million times better than GT. The only people that like GT better than Forza are PlayStation ONLY owners. I agree with Pat on the titles listed for the PS3... I'm interested in TLG and Twisted Metal of course but Resistance is about as bland as bland can get... they took the WWII era, an era I love and made it insanely boring.

R&C has run it's course as well...

I honestly don't give a crap about first party titles as much anyway. Nintendo still has 'em all beat in that department as far as I'm concerned. 3rd party is where it's at...

Agreed. Unless it has Uncharted, Metal Gear or Gears of War in the title, i really dont care about many "exclusives". Iv got a collection of over 50 games on the PS3/360 and maybe 6 or so of them are exclusives.

Yeah, there's a small few I care about... the one's you mentioned mostly. I doubt any future MG games (5 or otherwise) stay exclusive since Kojima himself said he knows MG fans may only have 360's now.

No MG fan is going to have a 360. The same way that Final Fantasy fans don't have 360s. Or hardcore Call of Duty fans don't have PS3s.

Um... I'm a hardcore MGS fan and I only had a 360 for quite sometime.

So... Yeah...

Kojima/Konami are not dumb. MGS will no longer be an exclusive. Maybe 1-3 in an HD collection but that's where it will stop. Anymore prequels, sequels or side stories will be multiplatform.

It´s YOUR opinion.
I´m not saying that you are wrong, but not everyone thinks like that.
Exclusives are extremely important, they sell consoles.

I´m all for the fact that they should support Kinect, it´s theirs, but to go all out and leave the "normal" controller aside is moronic.
It should be 40% Kinect games, 60% "controller" games, their main audience, the ones that made the brand are not the ones that buy Kinect.
Even if Kinect was the best thing under the sun, they should never go 95%, it´s a moronic decision.
To go all "Wii" in the last years of the generation is stupid, and it might even hirt them in the long run.
Many of the ones that jumped to the 360 the moment it was released, not not do it again.

Well, i never played nor plan to, so, i can´t be accurated in if it´s good or nor, but Just Dance is the best selling dancing game in any console...and all you do is "shake the stupid thing".
So, yeah, Dance Central might be his ass on the PS3 sooner or later.

Don´t bet on it. it´s just a rumor, but the "word on the street" is that Kojima is making a new PS3 exclusive.
Kojima loves Sony and Konami will not even think of going against that (Japanese publishers/developers don´t think the same way that western one do), rumor say that the only reason MGS Rising is going to the 360 is because Microsoft paid them to.
You can say that Final Fantasy and Resident Evil went to the 360, and that´s true, but Kojima is a God to many (not to me, but still), and no one will even think of going against him.
Kojima does whatever he want.

Oh yea, no doubt theyre important, but we are passed that at this point in the gen cycle. There are no more "console sellers" this gen. No one is waiting on Sony or MS to "release that one game that will push me to one side or the other". The system sellers are out the door(Metal Gear, God of War, Halo, Gears etc), theres no need to focus on that at this point. Now maybe in a few years time when we start gearing up for the next gen, MS and Sony will need to push their "exclusives". Theres no telling what either company will do with exclusives this next gen, but right now, theres no need to focus on that area of the business. This gen is on its way out.

There are no more system sellers this gen, i agree 100%, but, does this mean companies should just fold their arms and wait for next gen?
Tell that to Sony, tell that to Nintendo....
Sony still hasn´t stop releasing big exclusives, Nintendo just last year released a new Kirby and new Donkey Kong, this year there will a new Legend of Zelda (?)...now look at MS.....it´s a really sad line up since 2007.
Halo, Forza and Fable over and over again.
And before going about Gears, Alan Wake and Left 4 Dead...i´m talking about 1st parties.
I have nothing against Halo, Forza or Fable, but when that´s all you release every two years, it´s a bit pathetic.
Now...it´s all about Kinect, it´s like they just released a new console that only plays motion control.

It´s a bully way of going things, it´s putting your fanbase backed into a corner and forcing them to buy the peripheral.
It´s pure money over substance/quality.
Not saying that all Kinect games lack substance and quality, but the moment you force developers by making only Kinect games, it´s impossible to have good games all over, you are limiting the creativity involved in making a video game.

I can´t stress this enough, Microsoft Game Studios is an awful publisher, one of the worst out there, only above Atari (not by much) and Koei.

I'm not just posting that because it's amusing, I legitimately have no clue if that was supposed to be a serious post or not.

No I'm serious. Hardcore fans of certain series like Metal Gear Solid, Final Fantasy, and Call of Duty are going to have the console that they're best suited for.

Take Call of Duty for example, the 360 is the best console to have for that series due to the online multiplayer community Call of Duty has, the PS3 versions being plagued with online hacks, the 360 having every major Call of Duty game on the system, and having timed exclusivity for Call of Duty DLC. Hardcore fans of Call of Duty are going to be 360 owners. I'm a fan of Call of Duty, but if I were a hardcore fan....I'd own a 360.

Or Metal Gear Solid, hardcore Metal Gear Solid fans, the ones who play every single Metal Gear game, are going to have PS3s because the PlayStation brand are the only systems that have every single in-continuity Metal Gear game. If you have a backwards compatible PS3, you can play the first two Metal Gear games and all the console Metal Gear Solid games. You can't do that with a 360 because Metal Gear Solid 2 is not backwards compatible on the 360 and no other Metal Gear games are on the Xbox platforms. Even if Metal Gear Solid 5 appears on the 360 (which is a good thing because it will bring more fans into the series), the hardcore Metal Gear fans are going to be PlayStation owners.

It'd be pretty awesome if they announced the sequel to Splinter Cell: Conviction. I loved that game but it was too short.

The game is in production, so i wouldnt completely rule out an E3 showing.

It's probably in the works, but I don't see it being announced anytime soon. Ubisoft has a new cashcow with AC anyway.

Its been confirmed to be in the works, Jade Raymond, of AC fame is heading up the team thats working on it. Its being made in their new studio.

They really should get back to old gameplay style. All other Splinter Cell's are awesome but Conviction isn't that good. They should try to mix these to gameplay styles. I want more sneaking. Graphics should be a lot better. In Double Agent graphics looked better than in Conviction.

^^ I actually really liked Conviction. However, I would go back to the old SPlinter Cell style as well. Conviction was great for what it was, IMO, but it's not a gameplay change that I'd want to be permanent. Playing as Sam Fisher was always a treat because of the old gameplay.

I actually liked Conviction the best... and I am a HUGE SC fan.

I have to be honest, something like that was the first thing I thought of when Microsoft announced Project Natal.
