Considering that Electronic Arts' last big thing for 2018 - Battlefield V - has already launched, the publisher can now focus solely on promoting BioWare's Anthem, the acclaimed studio's answer to the popularity of Ubisoft Missive’s Tom Clancy's The Division and Bungie's Destiny series. This all-new MMORPG is scheduled to release on February 22, 2019 and the fact that Metro: Exodus has been pushed forward will surely give both highly anticipated titles a room to breathe in this crowded month.

Anthem will offer players a chance to control four different exosuits, called Javelins, that are basically RPG character classes. In the latest livestream, Producers Darrin McPherson and Ben Irving showed us more Colossus and Ranger gameplay along with progression and gear in Anthem. The ability to create combo and use attacks to boost cooldowns is a major component in class building in Anthem, and you can equip your Javelin with the gear you want in The Forge, the game’s expanded inventory section.

According to BioWare, most loot drops will be for the Javelin you are currently using, so the fact that the upcoming MMORPG won't feature any trade options shouldn't be that suspiring. Towards the end of the intense livestream, the developers jump into a bit of action to show us some of the player's abilities and gear and explain how they work in the game itself. Be sure to check it out down below:

On a world left unfinished by the gods, a shadowy faction threatens all of humankind. The only thing that stands between these villains and the ancient technology they covet are the Freelancers. Join up to three other players and assemble high-tech, hand-crafted, uniquely powerful exosuits. Explore vast ruins, battle deadly enemies, and claim otherworldly artifacts. With every mission, you and your Javelin exosuits grow in power. Fight the dangers of an ever-changing world. Rise united to defeat evil. Triumph as one.

Anthem will be released for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC (via Origin) on February 22, 2019.

In Anthem, players will delve into a vast world teeming with mysterious technology and forgotten treasures. In this quite beautiful, unfinished, and seemingly abandoned by gods land, only the bold few have the courage to leave civilization behind, explore a landscape of primeval beauty, and confront ancient dangers. To survive in this universe, the player will use four different exosuits, called Javelins.

The recently hosted, nearly 45-minute livestream of Anthem was focused almost exclusively on the Interceptor Javelin, a rogue-style class that uses stealth to kill enemies. According to BioWare, the Interceptor "may not be the mightiest javelin in your arsenal, its agility and evasion are unmatched, and it has more than enough power to bring the fight to anyone foolish enough to underestimate it."

Considering that Electronic Arts' last big thing for 2018 - Battlefield V - has already launched, the publisher can now focus solely on promoting Anthem. Game Director Jonathan Warner joins Lead Producers Mike Gamble and Ben Irving in the aforementioned livestream to delve into Anthem's Strongholds and see more of the Interceptor javelin in action, so be sure to check it out down below:

January 2, 2019 The Anthem demo will give a cross section of missions and the Fort Tarsis stronghold.

Anthem is one of the first big triple-A releases out in 2019 but there’s still a lot of the game that we’ve not seen. Thankfully, there are plans for two free demos to be released ahead of its launch.

We knew the release dates already – January 25 and February 1 – but, speaking on Twitter, lead producer Michael Gamble has revealed a little more about what the previews will include. You’ll dive into Anthem’s demo at level 10, skipping past the very early game content. From there you will have access to the Fort Tarsis singleplayer hub, a set of missions, and “some freeplay”.

It’s that freeplay I’m excited for. When Ben played Anthem at Gamescom he was thrilled by the movement of the Javelin battlesuits. While that will come across in missions,Read more

In BioWare's Anthem, players will delve into a vast world teeming with amazing technology and forgotten treasures. In this beautiful, unfinished, and seemingly abandoned by gods land, only the bold few have the courage to leave civilization behind, explore a dangerous landscape of primeval beauty, and confront mysterious dangers. This all-new MMORPG is scheduled to release on February 22, 2019.

At CES 2019, NVIDIA revealed that Anthem will be adding DLSS on PC. “By merging traditional computer graphics and deep learning, DLSS provides a big leap in performance. We are excited to partner with NVIDIA to bring GeForce RTX technology to Anthem.” said Game Director Jon Warner.

According to NVIDIA, "DLSS leverages a deep neural network to extract multidimensional features of the rendered scene and intelligently combine details from multiple frames to construct a high-quality final image. DLSS uses fewer input samples than traditional techniques such as temporal anti-aliasing (TAA) while avoiding the algorithmic difficulties such techniques face with transparency and other complex scene elements.”

At its core, BioWare's Anthem is an online multiplayer action RPG that will give you an opportunity to control four different Iron Man-like exosuits (called Javelins) and embark on a journey to discover why gods have abandoned the universe, in which only the bold few have the courage to leave the world they know behind, explore a vast landscape of primeval beauty, and finally confront ancient dangers.

The latest Anthem gameplay trailer puts the spotlight on the technologically advanced Storm and while he may be the most fragile Javelin, his enemies should not underestimate him, as the Storm can channel unbelievable amounts of elemental force. The Storm Javelin is also capable of wielding every weapon type except for Heavy Weapons (which can only be used by the massive Colossus Javelin).

In Anthem, you can equip your Javelin with the gear you want in The Forge, the game’s expanded inventory section, in which you will be also able to customize your very own exosuit the way you like, including helmet, arms, chest, legs, paint, and even animations. Considering that Anthem is scheduled to release on February 22, we should learn a whole lot more about this MMORPG in the coming days.

In the meantime, be sure to take a closer look at the Storm Javelin down below:

This year's February will be a true bloodbath, as the month is packed with big-budget titles such as Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown, Crackdown 3, Jump Force, Civilization 6: Gathering Storm, Overkill's The Walking Dead (the console version), God Eater 3, Metro: Exodus, and DiRT Rally 2.0. Anthem will be one of those titles trying to steal the spotlight from each other and top sales charts all over the world.

After the unexpected implosion of the acclaimed Mass Effect series, BioWare is currently busy with the development on Anthem, the studio's answer to Activision's Destiny and Ubisoft's Tom Clancy's The Division. The upcoming online multiplayer action RPG will give you a chance to control Iron Man-like exosuits, called Javelins, and embark on a journey to discover why gods have abandoned the universe.

You can watch over an hour of Anthem gameplay footage down below, as BioWare has recently hosted a special preview event in Sweden, giving the chosen flew a chance to check out the game's latest build, and every fan of Tony Stark should be happy to hear that BioWare has seemingly pulled off flying in advanced exosuits pretty well. Without further ado, take a closer look at the Javelins in action:

Without the Javelin exosuits, surviving in the universe of Anthem would be practically impossible. As one of the bold few who have decided to leave civilization behind and explore the unknown, the player will confront many ancient dangers, including the Dominion, a militaristic, fascist human faction that believes that might makes right and Titans, humanoid enemies found in the world beyond Fort Tarsis.

The player will have a chance to choose between four different Javelins and the latest gameplay trailer for BioWare's Anthem is focused on the Interceptor, the smallest and sleekest of all the suits. Although it's not as powerful as the other three, its agility and evasion are technically unmatched and it has more than enough firepower to bring the fight to anyone foolish enough to underestimate it.

Interestingly enough, the faster you move, the quicker your shield renews, and the addition of its "Assassin's Blades" power allows the Interceptor to become supercharged, making carving through enemies at high speed super easy. Be sure to check out the Interceptor-themed Anthem gameplay trailer down below, as you will be able to test the BioWare ambitious title before its launch during an open beta from February 1–3, on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Origin for PC. There's no denying that Anthem is one massive undertaking as the upcoming title is BioWare's first full-blown MMO since 2011's Star Wars: The Old Republic. Just like that video game, Anthem will feature varied world events, and the project's latest gameplay footage (that you can check out down below) gives us a closer look as some of them, alongside important lore items, huge bosses, and much more.

You will have a chance to see those wonders for yourself soon, as EA has recently detailed what to expect from Anthem's open beta. I'd say I'm cautiously interested in this game. Wish it were more of a traditional Bioware single player game than a Destiny MMO style game. But, I have a feeling this game is going to be what Destiny should have been.

but my interest is mainly in the flying mechanics. In the absence of a proper Superman game, this seems like the closest I'll get to a game where I can just blast off into the sky and fly around.

I wonder how much freedom we will have to be able to just fly around freeroam style?

I’d expect that freeroam flying to be a basic structural part of the game. Otherwise what we’ve been shown to date isn’t much of a representation of the game.

true.

but I just wonder how open the open world is, how much can we explore by flying around, etc.?

are there areas where we can just fly around without worrying about enemies?

stuff like that.

With just a month left until the game's launch, we should expect to see more of BioWare's upcoming RPG Anthem. In fact, just recently a new seven-minute-long video, courtesy of the folks at IGN, we received an up close look at Fort Tarsis.

For those of you unfamiliar with Fort Tarsis' purpose in Anthem, it will act as the central hub of the game, where players will be able to acquire quests, learn lore, and unravel the game’s narrative.

And thanks to the new gameplay footage, which you can check out below, you can become more familiar with Tarsis ahead of the Anthem's release on February 22.

Along with showcasing some interactions with NPCs, the footage also reveals some of the interesting collectibles you can pick up while exploring the fort and briefly showcases locations like a local bar which may prove to be a source of useful information.

I am in the same boat. I did pre-order it as I am not playing anything right now, though I have started to get into Tera and I am thinking about Black Desert. I would really like this to be good, but I don't know. The gameplay of the interceptor just gives me the " uggs" just does not seem how a exo-suit thing should be able to move to me. Guess it is something I can over look. Still pondering cancelling though.

I am totally not invested in the game. It's EA after all. If it ends up being a dud, there's no sleep lost. If after a month or two the game actually has good word of mouth, I might give it a try.

For me it's the fact that it's an MMO. I'm a single-player gamer, so the fact that this game is more invested in community and grinding than story and character turns me off.

The full Anthem interview: how BioWare perfected the art of flight
Anthem’s gameplay producer on the creating a beguiling sci-fi world world with enough room to take off.

Have you ever watched Robert Downey Jr. strap himself into his shining metal exoskeleton, electric guitar throbbing in the background, and thought, “Yeah, I’d quite like do that”? Then look no further than Anthem – BioWare’s mech game that sees you suit up and savour the majesty of flight in a sumptuous sci-fi world, where you uncover the secrets behind a mysterious power, the Anthem of Creation. And no, the anthem in question is not Bohemian Rhapsody. I checked.

Unfortunately for fans of Dragon Age and Mass Effect, Anthem is not the kind of single-player, story-driven experience you might have been expecting from the Canadian studio. While BioWare’s DNA can be detected in Anthem’s intriguing narrative, this is a multiplayer game like Destiny 2 and The Division which is best played with friends.

Here’s how to make your Anthem Javelin look like Iron Man (or Spongebob)
The Anthem VIP demo hasn’t even begun yet, but players are already figuring out how to kit out their Javelins as their favourite superheroes. Several posts have shown up in Reddit sharing RGB codes that players can use to recreate heroes from across the MCU and the Transformers franchise.

The trend seems to have begun thanks to Reddit user NudelXIII, who posted an image of Optimus Prime and the exact RGB codes included in the character’s original colour-scheme. That post was followed up with another, featuring Iron Man’s Hulkbuster armour from Avengers: Age of Ultron and Infinity War, and Spongebob Squarepants.

The trend then caught on,Read more

Anthem Fort Tarsis guide: all the key details about the single-player hub

We’ve had our first proper look at Anthem’s single-player hub - here’s what you need to know
What is Anthem Fort Tarsis? Anthem’s Fort Tarsis area still has a lot of prospective buyers confused with its first-person perspective, rich conversations, and NPCs – it looks nothing like the rest of the game. While the bulk of Anthem sees you and your pals soaring around a gorgeous open world in rocket-powered suits of armours, obliterating enemies with enormous cannons, BioWare are using Fort Tarsis as a single-player hub where you can lose yourself in conversation to NPCs and craft essential gear.

That’s right, once you enter Fort Tarsis you no longer have your mighty Anthem Javelin to protect you, and nor can you hang out with your friends: this is a non-combat space designed solely for single-player storytelling.

So, what do you actually do in Fort Tarsis? A recent IGN First video as well as a BioWare livestream have revealed some of the characters and activities that will keep you busy in the citadel, and even teases some of the ways in which Fort Tarsis will transform as you progress through Anthem’s campaign. Join us as we prepare you for the Anthem release date by running you through everything you need to know about Fort Tarsis, from vendors to key locations.

FORT TARSIS VENDORS
One of the main purposes of Fort Tarsis is for players to have somewhere to repair, re-gear, and turn in any quests, so naturally this hub area is packed with NPCs and vendors. This is not a complete list of vendors,Read more
