He had some nice heartfelt words for this situation, did you guys read it? Very classy

Good god....this movie has turned into a black hole.
Good riddance to Edgar Wright. Dude marginalized Hank Pym & Company all to hell to the point that the script, as delivered, is an INO that's done all kinds of damage to the comic-book canon of the MCU's most successful franchise, The Avengers. Maybe now Feige can write Hank Pym and Janet Van Dyne back into the place they deserve inside Avenger mythology, the place that Edgar Wright took away from them.
My main concern with the movie now is how the cast receives the news. Will some, or all, of them walk if Wright isn't at the helm? Will they balk at his replacement? ....Assuming there *is* one? I mean, who else is chomping at the bit to do a movie about *Ant-Man?*
And if this means that Marvel is forced to pull the plug on the Ant-Man movie altogether, I won't shed a tear. I'd rather see them sweep Hank Pym under the rug and out of the MCU entirely than try to revise the character and his story to the point that he's unrecognizable.
Hank Pym and Janet Van Dyne are core, *founding* Avengers. Always have been, and always will be. Their stories were *uniquely* tied to the origin of Ultron. Edgar Wright screwed all that up royally. It's high time that Marvel Studios reclaims those characters and makes them the Avengers they need to be, instead of wasting any *more* time and money into marginalizing them into peripheral standalones in a one-shot that Edgar Wright never intended to thread into the MCU in the first place.
This is the best news I've heard about "Ant-Man" in 8 years.
Oooohhhhhh......okay, tough guy. Didn't mean to strike a nerve with an anti-Disney remark. You've got the inside track supposedly.
I'm not saying marvel is 100% innocent here, but given how Shane Black, the Russo Brothers, James Gunn, and Joss Whedon all have had successful working relationships with marvel it's clear that it is more than possible for a talented unique film maker to play within the boundaries set by the studio, and that these people know what they're getting into when they sign on to make a marvel film.
What does INO mean? I agree with your post
This is from Faraci, who is saying the same thing as El Maybe and The Playlist:
"Yesterday Edgar Wright left Ant-Man when Marvel took him and Joe Cornish off the script and handed it to Eric Pearson, who had written the Marvel One Shots. Latino Review has the story here, and it's an ugly one of Marvel backing off their filmmaker at the last moment. The new script is apparently a disaster, and rumor has it that the problem is coming from higher up than Kevin Feige - Disney execs are sticking their fingers into the Marvel pie, I'm hearing."
And a little bit about Thor 2, while we're at it:
"
This follows on the heels of Marvel taking Thor: The Dark World away from Alan Taylor in post and having another director come on and shoot additional material. Marvel's always been autocratic - this is the house that Feige built, and he's been leading it with an iron fist - but things have been getting uglier over there for some time, especially now that Disney is getting involved. Why would the studio **** with the division that's making money and having a huge cultural impact right when they're at their best? Because of dumb egos. Hollywood is dumb, run by dumb, venal people, and the executives who aren't creative resent the people who are, and want to get their stink on the movies. And you have to understand that Disney doesn't care about the movies - they want the Marvel IP so they can sell diapers and shirts and bedsheets. The movies are just commercials for the IP."
How? Disney has like six production companies and no one goes into film making to make bad films, a company as successful as Disney isn't in the business of "Cash Grabs". Of course some of the movies aren't going to be good.
Honestly I'm glad Edgar Wright left, look at the box office totals for Shaun of the Dead, Scott Pilgrim, or World's End. He's just too bizarre for mainstream audiences, he said in 2010 he didn't want his film to be anything more than a stand alone piece, his vision conflicts with the greater picture. Antman would have come off as a wannabe cult classic, parody, and probably wouldn't perform well with mainstream audiences.
Matthew Vaughn signed on for First Class Ten Months before the film's release and that turned out to be fantastic. I have plenty of faith in the studios (Marvel and Disney) and their choices. After the Sony Amazing Spider-Man 2 debacle, it's clear that audiences want quality and don't just eat up superheroes for name value alone.
Behind us? CA:TWS just put up over $700million and critically acclaimed. We've got GOTG exciting everyone and A:AOU coming up.
Easy on the grave digging. Honestly Wright was the most eccentric of anyone coming thru the Marvel doors.

Y'all should try it sometimes. It's fun. Make a drinking game every time someone mentions "studio interference". And voila! You're plastered! It means In Name Only, you will see stuff like FFINO and CINO round here. CINO is the Halle Berry Catwoman, a film that literally was a Catwoman film in name only, every other part of the character had been dumped.
The term is stupid and overabused by fanboys.
If Gunn did take it, that would be an extremely quick jump from one movie to another with barely a break in between. He's only just finishing on GOTG. But it's his choice if he wants to take it. It's not like Marvel is holding a gun to his head.![]()
Also, some wise words from James Gunn on the situation.
Just asked Gunn on Facebook and he said 'no'. Someone else asked him the same question and he said "it would be like getting with your best friend's exgirlfriend 15 minutes after they break up."
Man, some stupid-ass posts in this thread. I swear if Joss Whedon were to walk off Age of Ultron and cut ties with Marvel tomorrow, the Marvel teat-nibblers would be tripping over themselves to be first to post, "Good riddance!" "Marvel are better off without him!" "I never liked him anyway, always thought he was a hack!"
In your opinion...just sayingLooking at The Winter Soldier and the events in that film, the ramifications for future films... you don't think Feige had a whole load of input on that?
TWS turned out to be Marvels best film.
I think we can all agree it's in the top 3 with TA and IM3In your opinion...just saying
