Sci-Fi Edge of Tomorrow - Part 1

Could get a kick ass Prequel though focusing on a kick ass Emily

They could still do a sequel if they wanted to, the scientist guy who was helping Cage and Rita said there could be thousands of meteorites floating around in space with mimics on them.

It would seem a little redundant though but I am sure they could come up with something.

^I dont think either are particularly needed, but if they get made I would be going to see them at the cinema, thats for sure. I think this movie will do really well on home video because of the WOM so you never know another movie could be something they pursue.

Yeah, if they made another one, I'd surely check it out. But, as it is, the concept and story told was just fine all on its own. Not everything needs to be turned into a franchise. But, it'd be funny if it turned into an Independence Day situation with a sequel coming out so many years later.

It was a great standalone movie that neither needs nor warrants a sequel.

That being said, I'd love to see Cruise and Liman reunite on another sci-fi/action film.

WOuldnt mind Blunt being thrown in that mix too.

No doubt, she was great in the movie. I guess I didn't mention her because I was thinking about how Cruise helped formulate the script a little bit (making a case for more humor in the movie).

I liked this movie, didn't love it. I thought it was fun to watch, but I probably won't get the dvd. I guess I'd go 6.5 or 7/10

I thought this movie was just okay. I doubt I'd watch it again.

I finally watched this movie. For me it's best movie of the year. It's better than X-Men: DOFP, Godzilla, Captain America: TWS or any other blockbuster. I was really suprised how good it was. I must say I really enjoyed the movie. Now I want sequel!

It's really the shame how this movie was doomed by terrible marketing.…

After watching this 3 times at home I think I have to move this up to my number 1 of the year. I'm still going to get the steel book from TARGET. I see Tom Cruise is on the front, I hope they have Emily Blunt on the back.

Holy ****, I finally saw this...

This was awesome, very interesting and badass. Nice twist of Cruise going from 'non Cruise' to very Cruisey.

Blunt was great and the whole plot/premise/etc. never felt heavy because they always switched it up at the perfect time.

Watched this again and Jesus Christ, Emily Blunt is just too awesome. She uses a ****ing giant blade to cute aliens in half! Rita just became the most kickass female character I've ever seen in a film.

Wow.

Talking about her, can anyone either find this poster without the letters (I tried for some time) or edit them out?

I would greatly appreciate it.

See... I found that while I though she was good and that the film over all was great entertainment... Sorry. I just don't get the Blunt love. She was fine. That's it. She didn't blow me away in any way in this. She wasn't bad, by any stretch. But considering the hype she gets... Yeah. Replace her with another actress and I don't see the film getting much better or worse.

The character Rita wouldn't work nearly as well for me if Blunt wasn't in the role. Im sure other actresses would have been serviceable, but even if they had gotten someone like Theron (a damn fine actress) I wouldn't have liked Rita near as much. Blunt's just damn sweet and makes this burnt out husk of a human being endearing to me.

I think that's giving the character more... texture(?) than it deserves. Rita, both as written and performed, is obviously supposed to be a person that has seen and done much before we meet her in the film. She's a soldier whose soul has worn hard.

So what? We've all seen this type of character in films a thousand, thousand times. I don't think anything of Rita was quite as poetic or engaging as you describe it Marv. Again... I'm not saying Blunt was bad, that the character was badly written. Far from it. I enjoyed the film and the part Blunt played was good. But I don't see anything unique, special or otherwise essential that Blunt brings that, like you said, a Theron or a Jolie, or quite a few other lesser known actresses would also bring to a part that wasn't particularly taxing anyone's thespian muscles. That's my take brotherman.

I don't believe there is much to explain. I watched a fantastic film and thought that the way Blunt brought Rita to life in it was flawless. Her act is great and she can sell both the "Full Metal Beach" and the human side without feeling she is playing on or the other, the stunts are amazing, she looks great but above all else she makes the character both brutal and elegant. She is threatening without being a jerk.

Anyway, I've seen people liking actresses for roles they haven't even played. Blunt's warm reception after Edge of Tomorrow seems quite reasonable in my eyes.

See. Right there. That last half of your second sentence... "Flawless" is what I'm talking about. She was okay. Good even. "Flawless" indicates that somehow this actress and the performance she gave was some kind of through the roof powerhouse that had everyone talking about it and garnered her an Oscar nomination or the like. Sorry... In the actual world I just don't see it. To me, it's a grand overstatement. Replace her and it doesn't make any more or any less.

Oh, and SofN please, make your next attempt more subtle. I've never said Gadot was a shoe in to give us a great WW. I've mostly said that she should be given a chance and that what ever she has appeared in during her film career, in no way qualifies or DISqualifies her to play Diana. Please don't deny that's what you were getting at with talk of people supporting actresses they've never seen in parts. It would insult both of our intelligence's to do so.
