Sci-Fi Edge of Tomorrow - Part 1

It's going to be downloadable off of Amazon next week. Then on DVD in a month.

In Russia a better design.

So it's officially crossed $100 million. Even if it's a domestic disappointment, having a three and a half multiplier on your opening weekend is nothing to scoff at.

I wish this movie had done better. It was so damn good.

Ya know, while I acknowledge that its performance was a disappointment and I'm sure they have yet to recoup their investment on this, a $365M worldwide gross is hardly an embarrassment. A far cry from "let's make a sequel" money, sure, but with the opening it had, it could have been much, much worse.

The good news is that this is a movie that really doesn't need a sequel.

Looking forward to buying this movie tonight. I'm glad I switched from blu-ray to digital. I like being able to get movies earlier and cheaper.

Yeah i really dig how digital releases are getting earlier and earlier. Only thing with digital is the quality doesnt quite match the blu rays due to the stream buffering I imagine.

With me, it depends on the film. IF I really like the film, I'll buy a physical copy.

To be honest...I can't even notice the difference. I had a 1080p 55inch tv and watch films on HDX 1080p...I also have plenty of blu-rays but I just can't tell the difference visually.

Really? I can tell the difference myself. I got True Detective on Blu-ray, then watched it at a relatives via Vudu, and it didn't look like **** or anything, but there definitely looked less sharp than when I watched it at my house through the Blu-ray player.

Got this on demand. Loved it in theaters and still love it. So good.

Domestic: $100,201,998 27.1%
+ Foreign: $269,000,000 72.9%
= Worldwide: $369,201,998

These grosses have exceeded many people's expectations. I recall people saying that this was only going to make at most 250 million WORLDWIDE.

Saw this for the first time last night.

Pre ordered the blu ray this morning. :word:

I like Live Die Repeat much better as a title than Edge of Tomorrow. The latter just seems so bland to me.

I love the ending. Still all right. As if there wasn't.

This film definitely deserved a much bigger box office. It was utterly amazing.

I wonder what the reason was for the slightly disappointing domestic haul?

Some would say aversion to sci-fi, but GotG did quite well and could be considered sci-fi. Is it Cruise fatigue? Something else?

If you figure it out make sure to tell me. I loved this film.

I would say primarily Cruise fatigue.

People still havent gotten over hating Cruise. I remember I knew 2 people who didnt want to see a TOm Cruise movie because they hate him for their own silly reasons.

THe only huge hit he had was Ghost Protocol. Jack Reacher made a decent amount of change too. I didnt like it that much though.

Also maybe the marketing. I thought the commercials were fine, but I remember when the first tracking numbers were coming out and they werent stellar some people were saying that the commercials were bad.

I thought that the commercials were great, even objectively . I havent heard many people having something bad to say about the movie. It didnt have a bad release date, so the only logical thing I think is Cruise fatigue.

I think Cruise has kind of become the butt a joke (or jokes) to a lot of people.

I think it could've made a bit more had WB kept that March release. This past spring was anemic in terms of big breakout hits, Divergent and 300: Rise of an Empire aside.

Not to take away from those movies but:
Rise of an Empire was a continuation of an extremely popular film. Even if the movie came out so many years after the sequel, I knew it at least would be a decent success.
and
Divergent has a huge following from the book.

If EoT was released this March I think the result wouldve been similar. I really wanna see how this does on home video and onDemand or when it eventually gets on Netflix, I feel that this will gain at least a decent sized following
