Sci-Fi Edge of Tomorrow - Part 1

First time watching this today (it's on HBO OnDemand) ;can believe how much i enjoyed it!

I will be watching this tomorrow for the first time. It is on HBO on Demand. It is way to late to watch tonight, or else I would be watching it now.

Watched this again last night. Even better on the second viewing. I'm actually glad this wasn't a super box office hit. It did well enough not to be called a flop and that's fine. If it had been a B.O hit, the studio would have green lit a sequel and that would have ruined it imo. Some films need to be stand alone movies..and this is one of them

Glad it's a hit on DVD/BluRay though....

Is it? It sold 1.3 million units. I'm not sure what the benchmark is to be considered a hit. Even the maligned TASM2 sold 2 million.

That's Spider-Man, though. Spidey always sells no matter what. That said, no, I wouldn't classify this as any kind of home video hit. It's not a bomb - I mean it still did better than other modest performers of last year like RoboCop, Riddick, Hercules and Anchorman 2, but it's still well below most of the year's major blockbusters.

The 4 movies you listed range from 800k to 1 million units sold, so 1.3 is a little better but agree not a major hit either.

I was checking out movies like Lucy, 300 Rise of an Empire, Non Stop, the Equalizer and the Maze Runner were comparable or slightly better than EOT.

It honestly deserved more than what it made. Did it even break even with the domestic BO?

It should have made much more, one of the best movies of last year. And it holds up very well on repeat watches.

I loved thr first but there really is no need for a sequel.

Yeah, I was excited about the Jack Reacher sequel, but even though I loved this movie more than JR, a sequel for this one just seems unnecessary.

A genuinely great movie. I actually think this movie is better than Minority Report.

Just give Emily's character her own movie, honestly.

This one should have been her film, in my opinion. Tom Cruise really dragged the whole thing down for me. Or just a different lead actor. Just anyone but Tom Cruise. :o

Loved the first movie, still watch it a fair bit now even a year after release. I agree it doesn't need a sequel but if Cruise, Blunt, Liman and McQuarrie return I would be on board in a heartbeat. The scientist guy did say there could be thousands of Mimic infested meteors floating out in space.

I have no problem with a sequel to this since it seems the idea came before the green light from the studio.

I wouldn't even mind them going to space to wipe out the mimics, make it a Starship Troopers type movie.

Question is will it be called EoT 2 or Live Die Repeat Repeat?

It's a wonderful self contained story. It doesn't NEED a sequel!

I would not mind a Emily starring prequel. Where the most we see Toms character is on TV or something
