Emma Watson in Beauty and the Beast - Part 1

It helps that Cinderella and The Jungle Book were both considered by most people to be quite good, or at least better than many were expecting anyway. So the hope is that this movie (and I'd argue that BATB is far more beloved than either of those other two) will follow suit.

Also those two movies made some tweaks to the story here and there to keep things interesting, so perhaps this movie will as well.

Personally, I think that it will be easier for Dan Stevens to disappear into the role of the Beast.
Then it would be for Emma to disappear in to the role of Belle.
Dan has the makeup helping him out.

Dan Stevens also isn't an A-lister. Not yet, at least. I'm sure if it was someone like Ryan Gosling playing the Beast it would be a little harder for him to disappear into the role, CGI or no.

I couldn't care less if she "disappears into the role." Yeah, you know who she is, that's true for most big-name actors. It's just how the business goes, you reach a certain level and you become recognizable.

That doesn't mean that they shouldn't get cast in certain roles, or that they cannot give good performances regardless.

I agree that the design for the Beast is lacking. He's not beastly enough. He looks too human.

I'm looking forward to this mostly for Evans and Gad. Glad to see they're having a good time. Gad seems to be having a blast.

The rendering quality of Beast is still bothersome to me. I'm sure I'll still enjoy this film, but that's an unfortunate stain considering how large of a role it is.

This effect would've been dated 5 years ago, and bringing 2016's Jungle Book into the picture makes it a disparate comparison altogether.
