I fail to understand the reason why Disney's Oz The Great and Powerful made so much money and why it has such high RT score, as I was underwhelmed by the movie, I'm afraid it's going to have same effect on me for this movie.

Saw it a few weeks ago and it will make a ton of money. The reviews won't matter, to be honest.

I think they will matter in the second weekend. Wondering how much the numbers will drop then?

59% Rotten is a high score? That's not a high score.

I think BATB will open to around 235-240 million WW on OW. 145 million domestic+95 million overseas. That's a great start for the movie.

Oz The Great and Powerful is at 59 % now but at the time it was playing in the theaters, the score was high and the movie was rated fresh, in fact Singer's Jack The Giant Slayer was more entertaining movie that was released same year but it got low RT score.

Honestly, I don't remember Oz ever getting better than mixed reviews. Mixed positive, but there were no raves and a lot of meh.

I tend to think this version will sink some too once the "shiny and new" glow wears off and people compare it even more closely to the original.

So after listening through the entire soundtrack, I can truthfully say that I don't like any of the new songs...like at all.

Any chance this breaks BvS March record? Or at least past THG opening?

So finally listening to the soundtrack, my god Evermore :hrt:

It's hilarious how much my theatre friends loathe the new songs and are just raging.

The "new songs" from the stage musical are just better in every way.

Evermore is a pale imitation of If I Can't Love Her. It's like its wussy younger brother.

So apparently Disney pulled Beauty & The Beast from Malaysia after the country's film board tried to edit/censor the film.

Just got back from watching it in cinema.

It was okay, not as good as the animated film.

I didn't planned to watch it, but because they add a gay character and I found out that my country didn't really censor the "gay" part, so I decided to watch it.

Emma Watson doesn't really have the vocals to sing. Her acting is okay but I feel that she is wrong for the role of Belle.

And
the so called gay moment.....it's just subtle. Lafou was attacked by the furnitures during the climax. But Gaston refused to save him. Later on, Lafou switches sides and helps Mrs Potts. In the end, I guess Gaston died from the fall? Lafou dances with a woman but later switches to dancing with a guy but it lasted only a second

Also.....
when the furnitures attack the villagers in the climax, it's implied one of the villagers is gay? Because when the wardrobe gave them a makeover, one of the men is very happy.

For me, it doesn't have to be as good as the the original.
As long it has the general essence of the first film, I will be fine with it.

Yes, there is no way it can top the original or so.
But it doesnt try to do it, the movie is a live action version of the animated movie...nothing more and nothing less.

I like that the Enchantress has a bigger role in this.

But I don't really like that there are too many songs, it makes the movie a bit too long.

Also, I don't really like
in this movie, Belle finds out that the beast is under a spell and used to be a prince.

In the animated film, she never find out that the beast is under a spell and used to be a prince.

Also, the backstory of Belle's mother is kind of unnecessary and drags the movie a bit.

For reals? This sounds like something you would see in an animated film..as stupid as it sounds to say that.

That bit was in the original.

I have to say, I'm just a tad bit excited to see this tonight, especially after revisiting the original on Blu-ray last night. Seeing it at my local Alamo Drafthouse in a large format 4K theater with Dolby Atmos in 2D.
