oh...oh...oh...

That was everything I never thought I would see, I didn't dare to even hope for something so wonderful... I'm not even going to quibble about my quibbles right now because it was just too wonderful.

Why would there be a sense of urgency? They didn’t know past Thanos was onto their scheme and it wasn’t like they were on a countdown that automatically would have brought them back to the present.

]That's why the Russos have to create that false sense of urgency or suspension if you might call it or stake with the limited pym particles. Either that or it is just a ploy to have everyone divided into the mutiple fan service. Either way, they needed that to make it feel like the movie has some stake. If not, it would have to rely on past scenes to keep the audience engaged for the first 2 hours minus the firsr 15 minutes.

But who am i kidding, they even use antman to play joke to waste one of the particle serum, by then i should have caught on that there should not bw any real shortage.[/SPOILER

Completely agreed about this being an official bookend for the MCU.

That said, though, I am now more interested in Black Panther 2 than I previously was. I really hope that we get some delving into with how the snap affected Wakanda. As far as we know, the royal bloodline was snapped ... So who was running things in Wakanda for five years?! That's fascinating to me, and I think it would be a missed opportunity if it were to be overlooked completely in the sequel.

I'm a 32 year old lady ... And Endgame made me cry MULTIPLE times throughout the entire course of the movie. Not just with the more somber and bittersweet moments ... Some moments made me feel so much joy that they made me cry, too.

Just an amazing ride of a movie.
All kinds of tears flowing for this film!

Where do I begin? Fair warning, I will probably edit this at least a dozen times as the thoughts flow thru me.

The first two acts gave me a nostalgic feel to how Whedon handled character interaction and humanizing the heroes. It feels so great to be let into their world - even if it was during a time of mourning. I found it genuinely very funny, yet lots of feels, and was the most enjoyable aspect of the entire film.

Then Vormir is recycled once more (which is where IG started to fall off for me), the science/rules become vague, and massive battlefield akin to the shoehorning of Wakanda in the previous film. Maybe it's just my sensibilities and maybe it's also due to a pair of directors who's strong suit isn't shooting a big "war" sequence like that. Winter Soldier made me believe the Russo's could handle quality hand-to-hand combat, but ya the attack on the Avengers compound lacked creativity and relied on too much fan wank and cameos.

Don't get me wrong - there were some genuinely great comic book moments mixed in there, but for me a good portion of it played like noise. Maybe I need to re-watch it to better appreciate it. I also wish I had done regular IMAX instead of 3D - as it just wasn't needed for this movie.

Interesting creative choices in this to say the least.
Thor obviously the most glaring. I feel bipolar about it because the gag is initially quite hilarious. I mean c'mon he and Korg trash talking kids they're playing video games against! By the end of the movie though, I felt his physical condition to be very distracting. His wig and beard were also an eyesore.

I thought I'd hate the day I'd see Cap holding Mjolnir, but I oddly cheered it here. His send off was a mixed bag for me. Perhaps it's because it felt disjointed coming off of Iron Man's. Then there's the fact that they basically gloss over his travels to put the stones back (some of which still seems like a giant chore for one man). The Russo's have a bad habit of using that tactic between the two films.

Captain Marvel was basically a cardboard cut-out and her rescue of Tony/Nebula was so completely random, as was her return to the Avengers compound. Don't let me forget the beheading of Thanos in the first act. I absolutely did not see that coming.

Ultimately, this movie gets away with a lot execution problems and its warts overlooked because we've grown to know and in many cases love these characters. Just having them interact on screen together in a film is a gift. When I really think about it - while this one had a ton more character moments, both movies were about the heist of the stones that ended up in a CGI battle. It's just that this one had finality to major MCU tentpoles.

7.5 out of 10 for me right now.

But that doesn't explain how that splintered timeline Old Cap showed up at the end there on the bench..

I think he just aged with Peggy and after she died he jumped back in to this timeline, landing in same exact moment when they sent him back. It's my own interpretation and they should have explained it better in the movie but there is a way to make sense of all of this

I thought Thor's beard and hair were amazing and the fancy braided mode in final battle was awesome lol

Dudes and female equivalent of Dudes, I am going back for a second helping tomorrow with my wife ( all tickets since I saw it on the 24th have been sold out). May change my vote after that. Cheers.

Yup. That's what I think happened although
I believe It was an alternate timeline so that he didn't mess up the main MCU timeline and also why the shield he brought Sam looks different from the one he uses in TFA, TWS, CW and the other Avengers films.

Even if it was the main MCU timeline he went into the past to live with Peggy and then just showed up right after he had been sent into the past ( because he knew Sam and Bucky would be there )maybe he drove there or caught the bus, it doesn't matter because it pretty much closes his loop.

Three hours, no butt squirm, that's perfect in my view. Best Stan Lee cameo to date.
Bring on the next phase!!!!!

Marvel has been dropping hints about Peggy and Steve ultimately being together since Winter Soldier.

They knew each other for a couple of years.
Peggy is with him both in training and in WW2 battle scenes. There is a photo montage showing that In the 1st cap movie.

In WS Cap called her "my best girl" . He always kept her picture with him, both when he was about to plunge into the ice and all during his period as an Avenger. His last conversations before the plunge and 1st thought upon being awakened was of his date with her. But they didn't have a relationship? Huh???

Steve is Peggy's husband. Steve was always Peggy's husband. The children that we see in the photograph with Peggy were theirs. There was no "husband" or any other male in that family picture. That was deliberately done by Marvel.

In their bedside conversation in WS she tells him that sometimes the best you can do is to start over, a statement repeated in the EG trailers. Also, when he turned away to get her a glass of water, upon his he return with the water, she said "Steve you came back. It's been so long.", forgetting, due to her illness that she was not supposed to reveal that period to him because it would change the future, prevent the time loop from being completed with the victory over Thanos. He, and I admit I at that time, chalked it up as a misstatement due to her illness. But it was a memory.

Marvel mentioned her name, showed her photo, or included her as a character in several more movies afterwards. She was even in Ant-Man. They would not have gone to that much trouble to keep the character in the audience memory if they did not have future plans for her.

Age of Ultron is where their intentions became clear. Steve's vision was of Peggy and her saying that it was over, and they could finally have their dance. His next image was of him all alone. Foreshadowing of his two paths.

Age of Ultron was when I predicted to my friends that they were going to end up together. Of course, I kind of lost credibility with them because of the 6 or 7 or whatever pictures that followed without that result! But now I finally get to say "I told you so". And after all these sacrifices he made, Steve totally deserved his happy ending.

Oh by the way, I don't think black widows movie will be a prequel. I think It will be about her in the soul stone universe. Just a thought.

So Steve kissing Sharon Carter in Winter Soldier... she’s Peggy’s great niece. If Steve was always Peggy’s husband, wouldn’t Sharon have known that, being a family member? And here she is kissing the same guy? Looking exactly the same as her great uncle, with the same name?

There was one other aspect of this film that really bothered me the longer I thought about it:

Peter Quill's character really got the short end of the stick throughout these last two movies. They literally had him kicked in the balls in Endgame. Since he is sort of the 'everyman' character of the MCU, wasn't really a fan of his use in this.

i think going to the past is fine, he has not loved anyone since her. As a result, he always comes back to her especially at this point, when the world was split in halves and she is the only thing to help him cope. So obviously when he has the chance, he jumps at it. Just don't really need to defend it to be greater than what it really is.

Is it just me or is this post loaded with spoilers? You're supposed to tag spoilers so that a guy like me that hasn't seen the movie yet, won't be spoiled by reading your post. Thanks a lot

Steve getting together with Peggy happened in another timeline which doesn't effect the main MCU timeline. The movie uses the multiverse version of time travel, where a new timeline is created if you go back in time and alter something. For example the movie made it clear that going back and killing baby Thanos wouldn’t actually change their current reality.

Looks like this is going to quickly descend into a Doctor Who thread. :funny:

The idea that Tony and Steve's positioning in the end should be reversed is absurd and, in my opinion, shows that the writer wasn't paying attention to these characters for the past decade.

But I was responding to comicsforever’s post, which (I think) is saying that
it’s all meant to be in the same, main timeline. It has to be one or either, not both!

Please post details in spoiler tags folks!:D There has been discussion of stuff with Captain America and his story which should really be spoiler tagged
