IW does not really have a compelling story that makes you attach to the journey of the characters to Thanos or the heroes. Thanos is presented as a benevelont tyrant, who kills for a purpose and is willing to murder his family but the development of this arc throughout the movie is weak. For the heroes, Thor has the best story but it is not enough to overcome the overall weakness of the entire structure and flow of the story. Aside from Thor, the other heroes do not also have any kind of character progression relevant to the story. IW is far weaker the last time I watched it.

I also think that IW will stand the passage of time better than AEG will.

Love em' both, but I gotta give it Endgame. Not only did it pack a more emotional wallop, and had a much superior final fight scene, it was the ending to the story. Getting the beginning right is easy, but nailing the ending? well to quote Chuck from Supernatural:

"Any chapped-a** monkey with a keyboard can poop out a beginning, but endings are impossible. You try to tie up every loose end, but you never can. The fans are always gonna b****. There's always gonna be holes. And since it's the ending, it's all supposed to add up to something. I'm telling you, they're a raging pain in the a**."

Infinity War had a bigger emotional impact. Even for those of us who had read The Infinity Gauntlet, it held plenty of surprises. Endgame's plot was partially telegraphed due to the nature of the franchise and the age of instant information. I have to give IW the edge.

Endgame easily for me.

Infinity War has a lot of parts I couldn’t care less about:
-The four generic minions
-All Gamora scenes
-The Peter Dinklage scenes
-Wanda/Vision scenes.

Endgame wins by a lot for me. I prefer character drama over action spectacle, and the acting performances are far superior in this movie.

I really wish they hadn't gone the time travel route, but it had it's share of heartfelt moments.

This is a matter of taste of the viewing audience.

My vote goes to End Game. There are many variables to consider here.

I find IW more entertaining because it just seems to keep moving and going and its feels paced better and each scene just flows into the next with things just happening so you are really engaged for the entirety of the film. The ensemble and character match ups were great to finally see and novelty!

However, I LOVED End Game as I find it more engaging on an emotional level, and for its story, character interactions, and just the tone and feel really makes this a very different Avengers/CBM for me.

End Game is really not like the other Marvel films. There is way more drama and dialogue and because the stakes are so high there is more somberness, sadness and seriousness this time around.

Considering we knew that this movie would deal with the aftermath of the Snap and how the world and our surviving heroes were going to be coping and dealing with that, as well as our 6 main heroes getting closure to their arcs... That may not have been for everyone who was expecting IW 2.0

Case in point? My friends have kids and they all went to a party at a theater where they showed End-Game and the general consensus reaction was that it was boring!

Now of course a movie with "too much talking" and serious character moments is sure to bore any child as they are waiting for the funny and action scenes that were more abundant in IW. But I want to say this also played into the reaction of many adults are not of the fan base lol

Wow I find it very interesting how almost neck and neck the poll results are. For me I still consider IW the better film, but like I said before that could definitely change down the line after a few more repeat viewings of Endgame. It took me 10 re-watches of IW before I could admit to really loving it. That movie just gets better every time IMO, especially with the great pacing it has. I think Endgame being such a slow film is why its taking me more time to adjust to it, but when it gets to that final hour oh boy does it deliver. I still believe that last hour is full of some of the most epic and emotional scenes ever in the MCU, and that is why I love it so much. As fantastic as that finale is though I don't quite know if its enough for me to consider the film being great overall.

I feel like I'll never not watch them both back to back when I own them.

I feel like I will mostly watch them back to back, but if I am reaching for one, it will be Endgame.

Infinity War is significantly better in my eyes. The narrative was excellent and it truly felt like the mega-crossover that the MCU had been building towards. Endgame feels really different, and not in a good way. I actually took issue with a few major parts of Endgame's characterization and storytelling choices - it didn't even feel like a conclusion since they killed off the villain they had been building up since 2012 in the first 20 minutes of the movie, it felt like an epilogue.

Considering how different End Game is to Infinity War I wonder now if them being filmed back to back is true.

Endgame. I like the long run time, the singular goal of all the heroes vs the split teams in IW, and that ending battle was having cheer over and over again. After infinity war, I was definitely entertained and enjoyed it, but I was left anticipating the next chapter. After Endgame, I breathed a huge sigh of relief, the story complete and resolved.

Endgame certainly could not have been as good without Infinity War though. I look forward to getting Endgame on DVD so I can marathon the two as one giant movie.

They are pretty well-balanced out, but for me it’s Infinity War. Narratively, it is a more complete film. I love how fast-paced and breathless the film is from start to finish, making it more cinematic and entertaining in the long run. Plus, the story clicked for me a lot more than EG.

Could also be because I am a huge Thanos fan, and while I don’t hate his character in EG, I prefer the more thought-out, nurtured side we saw in IW.

Infinity war is definitely better and much more even. Every scene is awesome and feels perfect. Very well paced. Much more complete and detailed.

Endgame is very up and down. The ups are amazing and the downs are very meh. The first hour is awesome. The middle with the time travel is fluff and makes fun of itself with a lot of comedy. The third act is phenomenal.

Overall, endgame is great and a satisfying conclusion. Infinity war is just pure awesome from start to finish.

Okay, I've decided. . . Endgame for me. Infinity War is the better movie but the emotions of Endgame and the really high highs of the movie just puts it on top.

Endgame by a stretch for me. IW has the blockbuster spectacle angle covered but I didn’t find much emotionally compelling about it apart from Peter’s goodbye with Tony.

In Endgame there were high stakes and emotionally compelling resolutions everywhere, from Tony to Cap and everyone in between.

IM1, Thor: Ragnarok, Winter Soldier, Civil War, and Endgame are the only movies that sold the stakes well enough to get me emotionally invested, and Endgame did it brilliantly.

IMO Infinity war was a better movie. It had tremendous ground to cover.
Heroes like Thor/Hulk, Guardians, Iron man, Spider-man, Wanda/Vision, Captain America/Widow, Panther/Winter Soldier, Doctor Strange/Wong were scattered in different parts of the world/universe, it had to unite them, get Thor another weapon, give enough time to so many different heroes all the while being a Thanos movie first and foremost and telling the story of the stones, and it did it brilliantly well. IMO Infinity was had more rewatchability being a shorter and more compact story with more set pieces

Endgame was better in terms of fan service and game a deserving end to the heroes but if a neutral person with little knowledge of MCU watches both the movies. he will probably enjoy infinity war more

If we take out the back story of Thanos we got in IW and look at Endgame Thanos independently, he is just another generic villain
