Damn. I don't think I've seen that list. I'm glad to see that JLA beat out NA, at least. JLA's been a disappointment for pretty much it's entire relaunch, but I hate to see a Bendis book succeed.

Marvel just made it more confusing, apparently. There was a bio or something on Mephisto in the back of the latest OMD issue and it states that Mephisto and Satan are the same entity.

That's especially odd given that Marvel made it abundantly clear that Mephisto was not Satan for like 30 years. Unless they count GR's Lucifer as different from Satan. Or maybe they're all aspects of the same dude who uses different faces to **** with different people.

Ugh, Marvel needs to organize its Hells.

If Marvel's going to screw over a character by retconing however many years of history it might as well go for a 2 for 1 while its at it by making said sacrifice redundant ala ghost rider.

Yeah, he's been Ghost Rider's main antagonist from back in Ennis' mini-series a couple years ago.

Ennis used Lucifer. Mephisto presumably wouldn't have satisfied his absolute hatred of Christianity.

I don't know who Lucifer counts as in the Marvel universe. I know Marvel used to stay away from actually naming an extant "God" and "Satan/devil" in their universe--instead they had The One Above All and various rulers of various parts of various Hells. But Lucifer and Satan are the same being in pretty much everything else, so I imagine they should be in Marvel's comics, too.

Isn't one of the big selling points for "Ultimate Spider-Man" the fact that fans who like older spidey can still have those stories...with a younger, unmasked, single Peter while the Peter of the current continuity can evolve and grow...experiencing things like marriage, unmasking, etc? Doesn't this return to the status quo make Ulitmate Spidey irrelevant? Because it seems like the Peter of both of these universes are going to be pretty similar when this is done.
