It is 100% exactly the same. Unaltered prop.

If they could alter it, they would have recolored the crimson \S/ to match the new red cloth cape they are using.

I'm wondering if they are just borrowing it from Warners.

The one in the box looked the same to me...the scene with it at the end of the episode looked different for some reason.

My Review on Lazarus:

Good one.

Your analysis of Clark was spot on.

I always hated how TPTB turned him into a *****e after S3 or so. I found it really difficult to root for the hero in the seasons that preceded it.

I do agree there's potential for change now, I just hope its believable and not light-switched.

Yeah its the lighting, and on top of that the suit in the box looked aged if anyone caught that, it looked like they took the one right off the display, the collar looked ripped or curled like a old shirt collar or something, i really dont wanna see that as something they'd use do to money problems, heck if i was one of the writers or producers of that show id throw in some of my own money to see a superman suit get done right end of story

Lighting.

Which I'm glad about, because the colors were really my only issue with the SR suit. I didn't mind the smaller \S/. I could get over the tiny \S/'s all over the emblem. I can accept the belt. The colors were where all my issues lied.

Yes the crew needed something on hand for the scene.

It's a completely unaltered Superman Returns suit. Singer used a lenses filter/ lighting to make it darker than it is.

I wonder when that scene with Clark looking in the box was filmed because at comic-con he said he had never seen the suit before until he saw it in the trailer. I'm assuming he filmed the scene with nothing in the box, and then they filmed all of the scenes with the suit afterwards.

That's pretty cool to see Bomer in the Superman outfit, considering he was a candidate during the Ratner/McG era. I wouldn't mind him as Superman for the reboot.

Anybody else annoyed at the unexplained return of the Fortress? Last we saw it, the Fortress was a dark, somber, lifeless place. Zod destroyed the power console. All of a sudden, now, Jor-El, the console, and the Fortress are back in full-force, effing with Clark's life again. When, how did it happen to fix itself?

I guess they assumed "Hey its the last season we don't have to explain everything. Lets just put the Fortress back online so we can get this baby rolling." That's the response i get from their actions.

Nitpicking again? I could nitpick even more but in this case it makes sense, Clark is used to Jor-El saving/helping him.

Yeah, you're totally right. Because I have a differencing opinion then you I'm nitpicking.

Yes I understand that this is a show based on crazy made up fictional people from outer-space. It doesn't make it any less funny to have a guy fall 30 stories land on concrete w/ a huge dagger in his chest, awake and think that his computer programmed father magically took said dagger out of his chest for him.

lol, after typing all that I find the scene even more funny. This is a guy who for the past 3 seasons has lurked in the shadows desperately trying to conceal his identity. Why wouldn't he get up and check to see if anyone noticed that he just fell from a freaking skyscraper and just stood up?

well i hope they just dont do a cgi suit for tom. I would think if its just for a good portion of the last episode or last two episodes tom wouldnt mind at all since its the end and he wouldnt need to wear it ever again after that. Plus his views on a costume has changed over the yrs. At the start he was against it but now more open to it. Also yea what ever they do use the sr suit on tom or use it as a base template with their costume folks who are great, and make a new suit. Tom will need to have it tailored to his body.

Aren't the preparations for a cgi suit the same as a regular suit? It's still something that's skin tight, so if Tom is open to that, why wouldn't he be open to just wear the suit. Unless, of course, they don't have one that fits him, but if that were to be the only thing keeping him from wearing the actual suit, SR suit or not, then I think someone needs to fix that right away.

If I played Clark Kent for ten years and didn't get to wear a Superman suit at any time, I would kill a B!T(H.

rewatching the lex/lois scene i really think the actor playing old lex clone really sounded like michael when he said "I evoled".

A few things I liked about the episode,
Dr. Fate telling Chloe she was not the chosen one.
Clark's visit from his dad. Definitively not his imagination in anyway shape and form.
Clark's Dad is visiting like an angel/ghost.
After all, he said things that Clark would not know. That's the big thing. An imaginary form wouldn't know that Johnathan was dying of his own anger, going to kill Lionel, and so enraged, that it stopped his heart.

Honestly, how could anyone think that was Clark's imagination. :( Also, Imaginations do not vanish like that. Only ghost or angels.
If Smallville goes the imagination route, they'll put Clark on the same level as a serial Killer, Dexter, and that would be very bad. Superman doesn't have hallucinations.
That one comic doesn't count.

I was very glad Johnathan told him that it was not Clark's fault that he died.
That's true. It took them 5 years to explain it, but now everyone knows.

Again, his imagining it is impossible.

Oliver's humor in the face of danger was nice too.
Especially the little green aliens joke. Which is what it was.

So, apparently, he was kidnapped by the Suicide Squad.
Boy, Oliver is going to be all kinds of angry when he finds that they have Chloe.

Hope he has some of those mini-nuke arrows left. Because he would be that angry.
Remember, Season 6? the episode with Wes?
When the show aired, there were comic style panels showing the Oliver Queen storyline. Showed off the nuclear arrows. :)

I'm sure there were other moments I liked.

Also, I'm really surprised that some people didn't realize Oliver's little Green aliens was a joke.
My mom and I watch the show and we both laughed when he said that.

And why is everyone still arguing over the suit. Of course he will wear it by the end.
Hell, he'll wear it long before the end.
Have to have something for the winter break you know. :)

Well, I guess they could have flying.
But still, he'll wear the suit long before the last little bit.
Really, the idea that they wouldn't make a big deal over him wearing the suit and all that is laughable! :)
Of course he'll wear it and all that before the end.
Just like he'll be called Superman. Not Overactive-imagination man. :)

Also, They did a rather great showing of Darkseid. Now once we have him in solid form, he'll be even more awesome. They truly learned their lesson from Doomsday here.

I thought the Darkseid shot looked kind of odd, so I decided to have a little fun in Photoshop. :)

That's pretty good gtracey. Welcome to the Hype. I really wasn't bothered by Darkseid's look in the premiere. I figured that he wasn't fully materialized on Earth yet or something and what we were seeing was his evil essence coming forth.

People are saying the suit won't fit Tom as it was tailored specifically for Brandon Routh and the 2 bodyshapes (whilst similar in height) are different.

How did it look a snug fit on Bomer then? He's much smaller than both Routh and Welling at 5"11.

I imagine the suit is a fairly skintight, stretchy material anyway and it will fit Tom fine, it will simply mould to his bodyshape.

I did this manip a few minutes ago & thought I'd post it here, I know it's not Tom as it was not meant to be a Welling manip but realised after I did it that I gave it the same cape that's seen in Smallville's version of the Superman returns suit. So thought I might as well post it here. I hope the costume ends up looking more like this.

I didn't think of that, actually.
See, from what I know about Darkseid, this misty form is probably because something knocked his power down several levels, and he's stuck in the dimensional barrier between Apokalpis, and Earth.

Waiting and growing in strength, until he can materialize as you said.
Perhaps he tried to fight Nekron? "DIE!"
(Nekron is the aspect of God's Death, or rather the ability to kill people by looking at them and saying die. Or touching them. He also created the Black Lanterns.)

Cause, uh, in the comics, Darkseid could show up on Earth any time he wanted to or just about. I mean, he worked at McDonalds one time, I don't think they have any on Apokalpis. :)
I mean, when he wasn't dealing with stuff on his home planet, he would go to Earth a lot.
And yes, I can't spell that name to save my life.

Also, Darkseid is a God, and one thing he suffers from is his power is given mostly by his followers. Kill all his followers dead and he'd rapidly lose his strength/invulnerability to the point where I could kill him. :)

The Our Worlds at War saga was interesting, because Wonder Woman needed his help, and his powers were so weakened, that she had to get more people to pray to him. :) To power him up again.

you make some very good points, but i think that until they actually come out and say he was a ghost, then i think it is open to interpretation. we'll see.

I hope they don't use the same "cape flapping in the wind" scene again for Clark's future. I'd like something new.

Word.

I laughed when Clark said "I DESTROYED A BUILDING!" Property damage. A very un-Supermanly trait.

Oh wait..

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B2BvSqqmidM

Metropolis is brought to a pile of rubble every week on STAS etc. :D

When you think about, while Clark was probably the most motivated and proactive as a superhero lst season, we saw allusions to a self-righteous/dark side to him that could be seen as dangerous:

-Branding his symbol all over Metropolis the first half of the season

-Confessing to Zod "Sometimes, don't you think I want to be a murderer like you?" (Persuasion)

-The dark suit representing him distancing himself from humanity, yet he still wore it after coming back.

-Destorying Zos' towers (Yes, it wasbadass but why didn't Clark stop them from being built in the first place?) (Persuasion)

These weren't evil things, but it did show Clark was a tad aggressive in his heroic duty and in Lazarus, Clark was pretty much glotting about defeating Lex, saving Lois and saving Metropolis without seeing the bigger picture. Sure Jor-el is still an A.D. (Artifical D@uchebag) for taking the suit and destroying Clark's confidence, but ultimately, we know Clark isn't gonna go back to mopping in his barn, he's gonna find a way to prove Jor-El wrong and that he is in fact the greatest hero of them all.:yay:

The \S/ does look like the same color as the new cape on the other 2 scenes/gifs you've overlooked;

The blue looks darker as well..

Hard to tell but seeing as the capes been altered/changed, my guess is this isn't the exact suit Superman Returns used/Routh wore.. more just the same design.

i'm really enjoying the aspect that we really don't know if the real lex luthor is alive or dead. i think they're banking on michael rosenbaum coming back for the final episode and that the lex luthor in the van that died two years ago was just another clone. that lex was all hooked up to things and he was probably an imperfect clone with all the memories. i still say that the clones now are imperfect versions of him. this old lex referred to him as the "creator" but not the original. if rosenbaum doesn't come back, then the kid lex luthor is going to be the new lex.
