I mean how does a boy in a distant fantastical world of dragons and magic have frosted tips and wears his hair like an American high school boy??

An Early Peek at Fox's Eragon

Source: Shur'tugal
October 28, 2005

Fansite Shur'tugal has a first look at a behind-the-scenes featurette on the making of Eragon, the 20th Century Fox adaptation hitting theaters in December of 2006.

The film, directed by Stefen Fangmeier, is based on Christopher Paolini's bestselling fantasy novel about a farm boy who learns he is the last of a breed of benevolent Dragon Riders, whose magical powers are derived from their bond with the beasts.

Eragon stars Ed Speleers, John Malkovich, Jeremy Irons, Djimon Hounsou and Sienna Guillory. Visit the link above to watch the clip.

Well Ive just watched the video and i am looking forward to this:up: ,
the sets look great and the cast all look comfortable in their roles

Ugggh, it doesnt work for me.

Malkovich looks menacing with that bald look and with the bear

Whoa! He looks great, I didn't even recognize him.

I finished Eldest a couple weeks ago. I liked it a lot more than Eragon, I thought the story really picked up. While Eragon focuses on the boy and his dragon, Eldest brings in more key players and develops the various subplots and their relation to each other.

If anyone wants Eldest spoilers, let me know.

I saw the video...don't know what to think of it. Its too early to tell.

I'm worried about the director, who was a visual effects artist. When was the last time where you had a good movie MADE by a visual effects guy? Don't say Spawn. :o They care more for the visual effects than the story...it's just a part of their nature. Come on Fox!

Look at the guy who made Doom; he was a cinematographer for Falling Down...and he made three awful films.

Just because you're in the biz, doesn't mean that you're fit in directing a movie...

True enough, but everyone has to get their start somewhere. Most of our great directors had to start off as visual/cinematographer types on other movies.

Yeah. Seems like Fox could just think that if a movie has good speical effects and action that it will be successful. *Sigh* That's corporate Hollywood for you.

After reading the first book of the Inheritance Trilogy by the young Paolini, Eragon, I figured we could have another Harry Potter on our hands. When 20th Century Fox announced they were ready to go forward with a film, the fans of the books -- including myself -- began to hope for the best. Though the coolest thing to come out of the production so far is the set of teaser posters, 20th Century Fox is preparing to unleash the first teaser trailer upon us.

Eragon Teaser Trailer

In our last report on Eragon I had mentioned that 20th Century Fox may have been looking at X-Men: The Last Stand to attach the teaser trailer of Eragon to. With only a few days left to go until the film's release, we have recently been alerted that the teaser will not be attached to X3 but something just as big; but can we hold out another month?

Before you start crunching the math to find out what film is approximately a month away, know that Superman Returns is the CONFIRMED (here) destination for the Eragon teaser trailer.

Thanx. I am not amazed about teaser release date.

I read this book, and it wasn't bad. I can give it 7 out of 10.

I will make my early opinion about this film, when I see teaser.

The movie could be a lot of fun, hopefully the effects will be up to snuff since the co-star is a dragon.

I think it is LOTR for teeangers, like Narnia was LOTR for children.

i have no clue what this story is about. but heck i'm a fan of fantasy so its not like that's gonna keep me away from this film :O :D

edit : i just saw the 3 min featurette at youtube. cool! i am so there in december

i'll try to get a hold of the novels and be familiar with the story (it is but fair to the writer to created this :))

Damn I'm out of touch with society. I haven't heard anything about this particular adaptation. I've seen the 2nd book entry at GIANT but I'd hate to grab book 2 without reading book 1.

I have read the first book and half of the second book. I happened to like the Ann McCaffery books better. Not to slam the kid for it was an ok read. I worry that it will be made like Dragonheart and D/D. I have yet to see a trailer so i won't know if i will like it.

I however think that if done right Warcraft will draw more of an audiance for i think it will end up being the bigger film when it is made.

The plus is Jeremy Irons , John Malkovic. The minus is that they are using an unknown pretty boy. The real test will be a believible talking dragon.

I think this is gonna suck. I've read half of the book and pictures I've seen from the film doesn't look good. Like Urgals are big tattooed men, not scary looking creatures. Amd what's with Galbatorix being in this? Hope they're some flashbacks. I'm not also convinced about Robert Carlyle as Durza and Ed Speelers as Eragon. Fox fcks fans in ass, again.

They are going to add stuff to the Urgals, at least thats what i've heard.
I've read Eragon, and thought it was pretty good.
I like the casting of the film. Garrett Hedlund as Murtagh is a really good choice.
Joss Stone as Angela threw me off though. But then again, she is a witch, and the author didn't really explain her features all that much.

Where are those pics of Urgals???

And when will we finally get this dumb teaser?
