Yeah thank god I was in all day for that PSN update, eh? :)

The DLC is really fantastic. Puzzles and set pieces that could have been ripped straight from the original game, and they even get Rob Caryle back for the cutscenes. The next piece promises to be even better though.

And yeah, definitely run through ol' U2 again. I bet you can still find new ledges to climb and ways to tackle fights.

Times like these though it makes me glad that I never keep my Credit Card info on any Online Network full time. I have no problem deleting it & re adding it in just in case something like this happens

is it possilbe to delete the credit card info online?
Under normal circumstances you can, but when you click on the "Sign In" link you get.....

Besides, here's the way that I see it; It's a lot easier to crash the system than to pick info out of it. I can't hotwire a car and steal it, but I could do a lot of damage to the car. If it was easy to steal info like that from Sony and Microsoft, someone would have done it already.

PSN Update + Posted by Patrick Seybold // Sr. Director, Corporate Communications & Social Media

I know you are waiting for additional information on when PlayStation Network and Qriocity services will be online. Unfortunately, I don’t have an update or timeframe to share at this point in time.
As we previously noted, this is a time intensive process and we’re working to get them back online quickly. We’ll keep you updated with information as it becomes available. We once again thank you for your patience.

Don't know IF has been posted But.....http://cdn2-b.examiner.com/sites/def...058e8f132b.JPG

F'n *****es!,They really expected Sony not do to any Legal action against these people??,there basically looking for hacking to be legalized and why should it!?

It's like something an evil robot would say during a cut-scene for a final boss fight or villains in a comic book!!,I bet this will be going on for a weeks or even beyond that!

I'm just happy that Netflix is still running despite all of this.
How did you get it to work? Everytime I try and to access Netflix, it prompts me to login to PSN. So I hit login and of course it says that it's not available. I keep trying and keep getting the same thing. Am I missing something here?

It does to me as well, but after 2 or 3 attempts to go through PSN, Netflix comes up. There's no real trick I'm using. I've read similar for others. Maybe it's ISP or location specific.

It's been working like that since it went down for me. It prompts me to login, and I attempt to, and then the black screen saying "PSN Maintenance" comes up and Netflix continues to load. It then prompts me again to login, and I attempt to again, and same black screen pops up. I hit ok, and Netflix continues to load, and then I'm at the Netflix Instant screen. And I just watch like normal after that, even though I'm not logged into my PSN account.

Netflix still running for me is what's keeping me from freaking out over this whole situation.

Netflix works for me still... It has me to login to psn twice then it will just go to netflix.

So when the PSN does come back online im sure we will have a big update to download.

According to the quote above by poster on Reddit named chesh420, who seems to be a moderator at PSX-Scene.com, the reason for the now five-day shutdown of the Playstation Network is due to an exploit of custom firmware known as Rebug. It essentially gives users the ability to turn a retail console into more or less a dev or debug console (like the ones we have to play PS3 titles before they are released).

Apparently, modders found out that Rebug can be used to allow modded PS3s to hook up to the PlayStation Network through a proxy server and some URL manipulation, as well as send fake credit card information to the network since Sony inherently trusts the dev-specific PSN to be safe. Of course, what happened then is rampant piracy, which Sony always freaks out about and has thus begun to rebuild all of its servers to prevent this runaround.

chesh420 bases this speculation on the fact that Rebug was released March 31, that hacking guides were posted on April 7, that PSN went down April 20, and that a recent patch for the dev PS3s has been released.

Notorious group Anonymous claims that they are not behind this attack.

I'll still doubt Sony's ability to keep PSN safe and secure, though. If it means it'll be that...yeah, right on.

But Sony seems to constantly be behind the ball on these things.

In what way? I've had a Playstation and been on the Network going on two years and not being much of a gamer until recently, this is the first major security issue that I've noticed.

Just saw this.

After five days of the PlayStation Network being down, Sony has admitted that it's uncertain if the personal information of PSN users has been compromised, but a new report suggests that the risks are fairly low.

According to Ars Technica, who spoke to a hacker familiar with the matter, the PSN uses the SSL system for its PSN security - the same system that verifies and secures the transfer of sensitive information between servers for web browsers and major online retailers.

The main risk of credit card theft exists for those who have chosen to install custom (hacked) firmware onto their PS3 for the benefit of homebrew or shadier activities, according to the report.

These firmwares could apparently easily contain elements to subvert this security without the installer ever knowing. Until they get ripped off, that is.

A custom firmware could contain provisions that redirect information your PS3 intends to send to PSN to a third-party server, where your info could be decrypted and stolen before being forwarded to PSN. Your transactions go unaffected as a shady figure nips off with your personal information.

The risks of this happening, however, 'are not substantial' to those who are innocently running official Sony firmware, apparently.

The message is clear - don't install custom firmware. The very people compiling these hacked operating systems could be the ones making off with your credit card numbers.

What rumors? Where did you see/hear that at? I hope it's true as well. I am having MP withdrawals. :woot:

This has all made me realize that I don't spend that much time on PSN as most seem to. Maybe I need to pick it up a bit.
