It's been working like that since it went down for me. It prompts me to login, and I attempt to, and then the black screen saying "PSN Maintenance" comes up and Netflix continues to load. It then prompts me again to login, and I attempt to again, and same black screen pops up. I hit ok, and Netflix continues to load, and then I'm at the Netflix Instant screen. And I just watch like normal after that, even though I'm not logged into my PSN account.

Netflix still running for me is what's keeping me from freaking out over this whole situation.

I tried using Hulu a few days ago and got to the black PSN login screen and it wouldn't let me cancel, I had to shut off the system to get back to the XMB. I didn't try continuously logging in though, maybe Hulu still works as well.

I use netflix on my ps3. Its just a matter of repeatedly trying to sign in, until it gives up and launches netflix. Only takes two or three tries for me. I haven't had any issues with it (thank god....I use netflix way more than online mp).

I thought 12 am was the next day ? At least where I live it is & on a side note I turned on my PS3 & I did not get no error code. I just get an error saying that its down for maintenance. So I guess thats progress

It starts at 12am, but they have 24 hours to get back online for it to count today. If the rumor is true that is.

I would expect Sony to try and calm people down by, atleast, hinting at it being back up "soon" or maybe even providing a timeframe. It'd be weird to see it come back up without some heads up from Sony. Although, it could be one way of approaching this entire ordeal as if it wasn't "a big deal" or creating false hope too, I guess.

In what way? I've had a Playstation and been on the Network going on two years and not being much of a gamer until recently, this is the first major security issue that I've noticed.

I don't have exact instances, except the constant news stories about how hackers are constantly able to find workarounds and backdoors to the system. I do believe there's been attacks on they're website from Anonymous before.Hacking has been a headache for Sony for quite some time. I've heard it explained much better, and in better detail too, about how they've managed to crack Sony's formula that was a major "WTF" moment for what they CAN do from that point forward (the code formula was cracked like 2 months ago, or something like that, I think).

The ApoclyPS3 is also still fresh in my mind, even though that was something else entirely. There just seems to be alot of drama with PS3...and not so much on a hardware level, but on the infrastructure.

Don't get me wrong, please. Even though I doubt Sony's ability to "protect" doesn't mean I'm hating. I, personally, have a hard time complaining because in the end...it's free. I'm able to watch Netflix, use BD Live, download demos, and play online for free. If it were LIVE, where I'd drop $60 for a year...I'd be way more pissed off. Way more.

12 AM is the next day. I was just throwing out a time to say that even if it were 10 PM, it would still be "tomorrow". They actually started that "down for maintenance" message, this past Saturday I believe.

Oh god I hope not. What if all data including trophies, accounts, etc... were lost. I hope they have everything backed up and secure bc that would be a mess if it was completely wiped out

Aren't the trophies stored on the PS3 and their servers? Account info being erased would be a huge nightmare.

Yes they are but my big fear is that they are erased from Sony's end. That wouldnt be too bad as long as we can resync them when they get the PSN back up, but what if they say whatever they did to rebuild the PSN prevents that from happening? Obviously worse case scenario which I really hope is not the case. Woudl suck either way for anyone that gets a YLOD between last week and now

that would be a huge loss to sony, and would suck hard, though it would give me a reason to play ghostbusters again, bloody glitched trophies
