Error Code (aka The Great PSN Easter Outage of 2011)

Well most of the time, when there is any kind of network breach, the administrators will want to gather as much fact as they can gather before announcing the intrusion to the public. In my experience, that's usually they way it goes down.

They didn't know the full extent of the intrusion on the 20th and when they found it was significant, they told us about it on the 22nd. Your original post seemed like you were saying they knew info was taken for 6 days, which isn't true.

There was no warning to customers and they still should have notified people immediately after discovering it.

Yeah, but ex college frat boys should not be journalists.... ever. lol. :p

You guys seriously underestimate the level of professionalism at the current E3. You may have had a point for years past, but since the streamlining, there's a lot less of that type around (Plus, I think back in the day, you had to have certain clearance to get into the conferences). It will be a big surprise to hear any booing at Sony's conference, or any conference. And if by chance there is, I'll be even more surprised if whoever does the booing doesn't get some heat afterward from other journalists and sites.

This is bullcrap! :cmad: Netflix has decided to stop working! I was just watching it earlier today on my PS3, heck my brother was just watching it an hour ago! It's been working fine, but now it's telling me a "successful connection to the PSN is required." Netflix working has been the only thing holding my patience! :cmad:

I try signing in again and again to get it to go away like it's been doing but it won't do it this time and Netflix just stops loading the stream. "I can't do that Dave."

Maybe it isn't. Netflix works fine on my laptop, but I get tired of setting at the table. I'm watching it on my bro's PS3 right now because he's is still working.... for now. I'll try mine again tomorrow.

You have to try a couple of times to get Netflix to work, and you have to ignore its demands for you to connect to PSN. You will win eventually though.

I will say it again. Netflix doesn't work for everyone. Everytime that I try and connect, it tries to connect to PSN and of course I cancel it. The movie/show tries to load, but stops about a 1/4 of the way and says that it's having trouble contacting PSN. I will get my camera and take a picture of my TV and show you guys this evening.

I believe you dude. I have heard from others that have the same issue.

But they didn't, instead they tried to cover their butts by saying they had "routine maintenance" to do as if this isn't 2011 and what actually was going down wouldn't get out.

Yeah, it's hard to take Sony 100% at face value when they claimed the DDOS attacks were in fact Sony taking PSN down for "sporadic maintenance"

Regardless, it'll be interesting if it's ever proven that Sony concentrated the majority of their security on the console side of things, which resulted in this huge security failure.

It would explain why they fought tooth and nail once it was cracked. Especially when they proved they could close the loophole almost immediately, despite the keys being out in the open.

It'd also explain why they started over from scratch. On one hand it's inexcusable for them to not have a backup plan for such an eventuality, on the other, they're not charging for it, so you get what you pay for (PSN+, etc excluded).

It's not only consumers that Sony needs to make amends to. It's high time Sony stops charging publishers for putting demos on their marketplace. Hopefully that's one change that's made when it comes back online.

Well that's your problem right there. Don't cancel. Just sign in. It will go to the down for mantinence message, but eventually, it'll boot up anyway.

I said it has been working fine until now. It would say the psn is down for maintence two times and then I was home free. This is the first time it has said that I need to be connected to the PSN in order to use Netflix. Even netflix had their own little pop up this time saying "unable to connect to psn". I tried the thing like 10 times and closed and restarted netflix several. It stopped working. My bro's PS3 still works after two login attempts though.

This is what is now happening to me. :csad:

I've tried it both ways and it does it every time.

The bold....That's what it has always done for me. I've never been able to access it.

This probably sounds stupid, but I actually went out and bought BLOPS for my XBOX and bought both map packs. The only downside to doing that, is I had to start all over.

Still works for me. Maybe it's your internet.
I've got a couple friends who it doesn't work for them either. Some of my friends can still get in as well, it seems it's a random issue for some.

I went and put in a request for Resistance: Fall of Man at Goozex bc of this outage. I never played it and been meaning to before R3 comes out later this year
