Escape from New York (Remake)

If you "HAD" to recast Plisskin...do you like the choice of Gerard Butler???

  • Yes I like him...not sure if he's my top choice but...I like it! :)

  • No he's not right for the role at all. :(

  • Not bad but...I'm not sure yet...need to give it more time.

He is kind of a glam-boy. Sorry but he is. Ghost Rider was Oscar worthy for it's fire effects for sure. As far as acting, directing, or screenplay...uhhhh no.

Oh please, there is not a bigger pretty boy than your pick, Mr GQ.

It seems those believe Holloway is perfect for the role because he's has a scruffy face.

Geez your selective reading knows no bounds, people have been talking about how his acting style lends perfectly for the role of snake, your the one thats been obsessing that he looks too feminine. He looks, and acts the part.

Hunter, it's also silly to think that only an actor who's played a selfish anti-hero before is worthy. Maybe Holloway can pull it off but he looks "soft" to me. A little too girly. My only problem with Matthew is his voice might be too whiney.

Yeah maybe but he looks like someone who could kick ass instead of a hair dresser filling up the net with glam shots in a windstorm. :yay:

I admit Holloway has a similar face to Kurt Russell, and with his scruffy face in almost every pic it's even more similar to Kurts portrayal of Snake. His build though is like a girl with small muscles.

Call me Snake!

Ad, firstly those that want Holloway want him b/c of how he plays a very Snake like character brilliantly on LOST, you know this unless you aren't reading our posts. Also actors play and are suited to certain types of roles, hence why no one believe Matthew can do a good Snake, it's not in him.
Thank you

When a guy has been working for 20 years and has spent all his time playing the same role that is how we gauge, just like everyone know Willis is ideal for the GOW movie b/c he can play a believable grizzled badass, come on man.

No he really doesn't, he looks like he spends time oiling up to impress women and playing beach volleyball,he doesn't look like a fighter at all
Your Holloway comments are childish , watch LOST before you make this any worse AD.

I have seen Lost...I just stop watching it after the first season. Aside from similarities mentioned above...I don't see it. I'm probably alone on this so I'll stop. Oh well.

^ That was my whole damn point Dorky if you can read. It seems those believe Holloway is perfect for the role because he's has a scruffy face. Jeez. And the stupid argument that only those who have played a selfish anti-hero are capable of playing a selfish anti-hero again. It's called visual sarcasm.

no....it's called you being immature and resorting to juvenile antics. just because you can't intelligently defend your argument doesn't mean you have to act like a ****** and start posting stupid, irrelevant posts. i also like how you threw in "if you can read" when you're the one that can't seem to grasp that we want Holloway for MORE than JUST his looks even though we've said it multiple times. you're basically ignoring the GOOD reasons why we want Holloway and focusing only on what you think are bad reasons. i don't know if anyone else thinks this way but right now i see you as a joke. you suggested Matt McConaughey, then suggest the director for Night Watch for this flick, THEN you post pictures of masculine-looking men that happen to be gay as an argument to how stubble doesn't make a man look macho. in fact, i don't even know why i'm arguing with you because i honestly shouldn't be taking your posts seriously. your posts in this thread, of late, consist of immature and thoughtless suggestions and accusations. if you can't handle these discussions without acting like my bratty nephew when your opinion is challenged then i suggest you just drop the discussion all-together like you did with Matt McConaughey...

...until you can post more maturely and less like a prick teen then i'm done responding to you, especially considering that 80% of the stuff we post seems to go over your head.

No it was sarasm with pics Dorky. I think Josh comes across as very feminine despite his hairy face. Then you said this in response:

So then I posted the pics. That's how I see him we disagree.

My problem with Holloway is its going to be Rob Zombies Halloween all over again, Rob Zombie made a great horror movie, but it literally was just the original Halloween but not nearly as well made...if you get Holloway to play Snake all its going to do is remind us that Kurt Russel was better

you get some one like Matt Damon, Owen, Marky Mark, Dicaprio or what have you just let a great actor do his thing and make their own Snake, then you might be able to get away with a fresh take, thats just my opinion

It's type-casting with Holloway and share your opinion though only like Wahlberg out of that list.

Snake has visual cues much like Bond, you can't simply cast a crew cut guy with no resemblance at all. and Wahlberg and Damon have both played that type of character anyway, so.

And Ad, it's not type casting, it's casting the right type. much as Ive illustrated OVER and OVER with Willis, and hell you suggested Jackman, i mean Christ, Snake is based partly off Wolverine.

How tall is Josh? I could deal with his build for the role if he was a large person but if he's 5ft 5" forget it.

Yeah but the bonds are all different, they all bring something different to the table that makes everyone great

Connery is the hand of god
(Lazenby+)Roger Moore is more light hearted, and brings a more playful take on the character
Dalton's character in the 2 movies he is in seems to be a bit darker (especialy in liscense to kill) is bent on revenge etc
Bronson is bad ass lover boy, the dude got more ass in 4 movies than the other bonds did in 10
Craig is more of your action star bond

But if they would have gone for a straight Connery remake for the next bond how sweet would that have been? Everyone would just look at it as not Connery, but really especially Bond fans note the change in style and tone from every bond actor, and movie....and I think the same should happen with EFNY

Craig and Dalton both riffed off Connery a lot, What i am saying is that Josh is the right type, not that he will play it exactly the same, but he will bring some familiarity to the role instead of being a completely different character.

I just don't want whoever is cast as Snake to copy Kurt and try to imintate his mannerisms. It'd be like in 20 years someone trying to remake Ace Ventura and copying Jim Carrey.

I, to think they should go with a different vision...Holloway looks and acts exactly like Russell not that that is a bad thing Hunter.

The bond franchise is a perfect example because so many actors have portrayed the same character. The character of bond has fundamental characteristics Suave, daring, and arrogant for example each actor had to fullfill that part of the character then add their own touch to the character.

This is the same thing with a new Snake, the character is fundamentally selfish, tough, and brash. Holloway can fullfill those perfectly. Russel brought a slight arrogance and his own personnality to the role.

I can see halloway bringing more of a darker snake, with a bit more depth. And like hunter said a bit of familiarity because of some of the same mannerism of Russel.

Notice how looks were not compared in either cases?

I think if they wanted they could make Damon, Dicaprio and co 'look' like snake, and they are much much better actors than Holloway....you can make a lot of people look right, but he needs to be Snake, and not Kurt Russels Snake

I could actually see Diesel doing Snake Plisskin but it'd be a totally different look of course. He's got the attitude you're looking for.

I don't know if I even wanna cast for attitude...just do what Nolan did for Joker...Heath Ledger??? who thought he would be a good Joker....but its all about how the actor, and director think he can play it best

He might NOT be a good Joker. We'll see. You don't have to cast for attitude but the actor better be able to portray the attitude of Snake or something similar. The guy's against the system...a rebel like they said above. He's not James Bond.
