Evil Dead (2013) - Part 1

I finally watched this a few months back and I was surprised by how poor the film was. Outside of the art in the book, not a lot to like. The finale is one of the most ineffective scenes I can remember. They also made it nearly impossible to care for anyone involved with how they played with the lead characters.

Well, somebody said that quote. Translation skills aren't that bad.

Good to hear Fede is still attached. Also happy to hear AoD2 is still a-go

I don't think they meant necessarily it was literally a problem of translation. Part of the quote is true though, neither the writer or Alvarez has worked on Evil Dead in 2 months, but the quote lacked the context that the reason why no work is being done on that film is that the producers and such are working on Army of Darkness 2 instead.

I got the DVD for $5 on Black Friday, and I enjoyed it quite a bit. I meant to see it when it was in theaters, but I just never found the time. I'm not sure what the overall consensus was, but I liked it alot.

So did I, great performances and I had a blast watching it with friends. We had a recurring joke about how bad we felt for hipster Jesus. Seriously. That guy goes through HELL before they finally flat out kill him.

After the needle in the eye, I would've been like "alright, you can just kill me now, please."

By the time his hand got bashed in with the crowbar I was like "oh god, please just kill this poor bastard!"

^He did go through a lot of **** and I thought he was dead a few times only for him to be there next scene. Loved this movie though.

This movie was a blast in April 2013, and still is a blast today. One of the few GREAT remakes/reboots.

The gore was amazing, and I thought the Dead-Ites were really creepy. Look foward to seeing Mia in hopefully a sequel.

Did anyone think before the movie was going to be released, that the brother was going to be the head survivor by the end of the film based on marketing and trailers?

I finally got around to seeing this. This film was good. The gore/SFX was well done. The one big flaw for me is that this film has no likable characters.

It's so true. I did feel bad for him until I realized that the s*** that happens in the movie is entirely his fault. He had it coming.

:o

And he was just kind of a dick to the other guy for the whole movie.

Yeah, he only redeemed himself after he whacked Mia in the head with the crowbar. I'll give him points for being gung ho about burning that house down, though.

In hipster Jesus defense he just read from a book. Would any of y'all seriously stop reading that book? I'm superstitious, but I'd still check that book out. A non superstitious person wouldn't take those warnings seriously at all.

"I'm drawing a line in the f***ing sand here: Do not. Read. The Latin."

^Agree with that, Evil Dead as a remake was very good, but Cabin In The Woods is one of my favourite horror movies ever.

I liked them more than any other characters in horror in the last 10 years.

They felt human. No sex, drink or drugs in sight, which was fresh.

Mia you couldnt help but like IMO, especially after the **** she went through in the movie and still came out fighting at the end of it all.
