Evil Dead 4?

As Bruce Campbell, Raimi and a few other associated people have put it, the movie hasn't happened more or less because it didn't need to because they were all busy, they all had work and were happy working. At this moment time though, basically everyone involved is suddenly free of other commitments. Bruce's TV projects have come to an end, the Raimis aren't working on anything else etc.

WTF is going on? Fede also confirmed he's not doing a sequel to Evil Dead, and that there probably will not be one...

“Look, I am sorry to tell you this but that movie won’t happen. Evil Dead 2 is not going to happen, at least not with us involved. We left that project many months ago because we preferred to put our energies on other things. I don’t know if the producers still have intentions of making it. But what I can tell you is that we are not part of that project.”

Army Of Darkness 2 better happen for sure now! Confrim it Raimi! :argh:

Edit: More potential bad news....BC says the comments on AOD 2 were out of context.

“@realnickelass: Give me some sequel, baby...

False. Out of context remark.

I don't know why they wouldn't do a sequel? The remake was quite good and that ending shot practically screamed sequel-bait.

It's all rumor at this point. Other than Bruce saying he'd be in a sequel it isn't confirmation OF a sequel.
I felt it needed repeating.

It was a success too. I have no idea. **** must have went down. Dude, always seemed enthusiastic.

Now Bruce Campbell says nope, not happening.

"It's all Internet B.S. - there's no reality whatsoever. These random comments slip out of either my mouth or Sam Raimi's mouth, next thing you know, we're making a sequel.

So, unless you have an announcement from Renaisssance Pictures - it's not real. Or unless you have a start date, or a release date.

We do appreciate people's enthusiasm for another 'Army of Darkness,' but they should just wait until it's real."

I can understand the hesitation with an Army of Darkness 2. Where is their audience to a sequel from a film that tanked over 20 years ago with a star who never made it beyond the cult fanbase. Even on a low budget, it's a huge risk. Maybe as a DTV sequel (ala Curse of Chucky).

As for Evil Dead 2, the hesitation there I wonder is because all horror sequels to reboots make much less (Texas Chainsaw: The Beginning, Halloween II) so they just don't see the point in spending on a second that won't make as much as the first. Probably the same reason we haven't seen a Friday the 13th 2 or Nightmare on Elm Street 2 even though the reboots proved successful at the box office.

Bruce Campbell and Sam Raimi are *****, why do they consistently pull this sort of thing?

They're always teasing and teasing or in this case confirming, then denying. Absolute pricks the pair of them.

I think in this case it was taken out of context and mixed in with desire. He said he would do a sequel with Sam Raimi, not that they are. Combine that with Raimi's pronouncement he's working on a script (without studio involvement/desire mentioned, so purely personal at that point) and people got excited over a movie happening that's possible but not definite.

So Campbell says he'll do it, Raimi's working on a script, a movie must be happening, right? That's where things went awry.

Part 4 will be a STARZ show instead, starring Bruce Campbell!

Evil Dead Series is Heading to Starz & Bruce Campell is Back as Ash!

Back in July, there were rumblings that Sam Raimi, Rob Tapert and Bruce Campbell were tinkering with the idea of bringing Evil Dead to the small screen. Were they screwing with the fans? Not at all.

News has hit today that Starz has ordered up 10 episodes of Ash vs. Evil Dead. And get this: Bruce Campbell is reprising his role as Ash!

Ash, the stock boy, aging lothario and chainsaw-handed monster hunter has spent the last 30 years avoiding responsibility, maturity and the terrors of the Evil Dead. When a Deadite plague threatens to destroy all of mankind, Ash is finally forced to face his demons –personal and literal. Destiny, it turns out, has no plans to release the unlikely hero from its “Evil” grip.

“Evil Dead has always been a blast. Bruce, Rob, and I are thrilled to have the opportunity to tell the next chapter in Ash’s lame, but heroic saga. With his chainsaw arm and his ‘boomstick,’ Ash is back to kick some monster butt. And brother, this time there’s a truckload of it,” saidSam Raimi.

Raimi, Tapert and Campbell will executive produce and Raimi will direct the first episode.

Holy ****ing **** is, I think, the appropriate response here.

A fourth Evil Dead has been rumored for some time now – and it certainly built to a deafening pitch when the Evil Dead remake hit last year - but it appears that the small screen was the best route to make that play out.

“I’m really excited to bring this series to the Evil Dead fans worldwide – it’s going to be everything they have been clamoring for: serious deadite ass-kicking and plenty of outrageous humor,” said Bruce Campbell.

Raimi co-scripted the series with his brother Ivan and Chuck‘s Tom Spezialy.

Get excited, folks.

THis is the best thing to happen with the franchise. An actual Evil Dead 4 with a middle aged Bruce Campbell would be a bomb at the BO.

After the last one made 100m? No, I doubt it. The name brought them in. And all the talk was about Campbell coming back or crossing over.

They should do a movie version of Evil Dead: The Musical.

I never got to see it in the theater, but I do own the musical soundtrack.

Everyone is excited but i cant see how it can work. please folk explain what you envision for an evil dead tv series

Ash continuing to fail to get home. Quantum Leap with Deadites.

But surely we expect to lose the gore. will it follow from army of darkness?

Will we? Even on basic cable, hell even on network TV if you consider Hannibal, there is very little you can't do gore wise on TV anymore (But god forbid if you show a boob!). Then consider that this is on a premium cable network. They can do what they like.

Yeeh..but evil dead!

I should ask but the gore level..do we think of evil dead or army of darkness?

Look at the gore in Game OF Thrones, Walking Dead, American Horror Story, Penny Dreadful, and True Blood. We should be more then fine in the gore category. They won't be restricted cause the cable channels want gore and graphic violence.

It won't be an issue.

It's on Starz. They can get away with a lot of stuff there. I'd like to see Jane Levy's Mia pop up at some point. Her performance in the remake was fantastic and seeing her and Ash team up would be really fun to see.

Gore is guaranteed, but it will probably be CGIed for the most part, which may lose some of the charm.
